Project Update: Shipping news

Hey everyone,

Shipping for RUN has been continuing worldwide. It has been difficult to keep everything synced up with all the warehouses, so we have been hard at work resolving those issues. We've seen your comments and we're sorry if a lack of communication made people worried. Hopefully this update helps everyone understand where we're at with shipping.

Newsletter - My marketing person was excited to let everyone know that RUN is at the warehouses and so a newsletter was sent out, but we hadn't adjusted the price/shipping correctly, but it's fixed now. Also note that any new orders go out after the backers. Sorry about any distress from this.

US - Orders have been steadily shipping over the last two weeks and we are down to the last 15% of backers. Most of those will go out monday, and the rest in the following days,

EU - Orders have all shipped, but they only sent 1 bonus map instead of 2 initially, but we sent the second soon after.

UK - Shipping wraps this Wed. A backer reported seeing it a store, not sure which one - let me know if you find it. The UK warehouse said they haven't shipped to any retailers yet.

Canada - the copies are crossing the border, waiting for word that it has arrived at the CA warehouse.

Worldwide - Shipping started this week, but depending on the country it may take a while to arrive.

Let me know if you have any issues at [email protected] and we'll do our best to take care of you. We're grateful for your support, and we're so excited for you to play RUN.

Project Update: Shipping update!

Hello Backers,

Here is a quick shipping update: All games have left the factory and are
on their way to the various distribution centers.

This table shows the latest estimated arrival times we've received from
our manufacturer:

Destination Way ETA
-----------------------------------
Germany By Train 30-Aug
The UK By Sea 13-Sep
AUS By Sea 7-Sep
The USA By Sea 11-Sep
China/RoW Truck 13-Aug

Please note that even if all goes well with the transport, the games
still have to go through customs and be forwarded to the distribution
centers, which can take up to 2 weeks. From there they will be shipped
to you, which can take up to another 2 weeks (more for RoW). So right
now we're still hoping for a September/October delivery.

Address changes

If you need to update your address, you can do so by Sept 1 from within
your backerkit account. If you experience any problems, please contact
Tim directly at [email protected].

Visit us at SPIEL in Essen

We will be at SPIEL in Essen (booth 3-C123), so please come by and say
hello. We wanted to make sure that most of you backers get your copies
before or at least around the date of the show, so we were very hesitant
to announce RUN for SPIEL. We'll be demoing the game, and we'll have a
few copies for sale, but unfortunately (for logistical reasons) we can't
offer you the option to pick up your copy there. However, we're pretty
confident that your games will arrive at the same time, and this will
save you the hassle of carrying them home.

That's it for now - we'll get back to you as soon as we have more news
about shipping.

Thank you very much!

Project Update: Production nearly complete!

Hello Backers,

we have some good news regarding the status of RUN: production is almost
finished!

We're sorry that everything took longer than anticipated. In the end it
came down to two reasons: 1 - RUN is a complex product with many
different parts, and we took great care to make sure all the details met
our high expectations. 2 - As it turns out, May to July is probably the
busiest season for board game manufacturers, because almost everyone
wants to have their games ready in time for SPIEL in Essen... Especially
the injection molded parts like the action and gadget tokens had really
long lead times.

However, we've tried to use the waiting time to improve components
wherever we could, and we're really happy with how everything turned
out! Here are some production photos we've received from our
manufacturer (some parts still unfinished):

Our manufacturer plans to ship out the games to the distribution hubs in
the first week of August.

This is how the games will get to you:

USA and Canada: The games will be shipped to our US warehouse for
distribution.
Australia: The games will be shipped to and distributed by our
Australian partner Meeple.com.au.
UK: The games are shipped to Aleto and distributed from there.
EU: The games are shipped to Fullfillment Europe in Germany and
distributed from there.
Rest of the world: Games will be shipped from our hub in China (VFI).

We can give you a better estimate once the games are in transit, but
right now it looks like most of you will receive your games in September
or October. This is later than we had hoped, but we hope that the high
quality of the components and attention for detail we've put into the
game will make up for the delay.

We're sorry you have to wait a little longer - we can't wait to get RUN
into your hands!

Thank you for your patience and support,
Moritz and Tim

Project Update: Pre-production samples arrived

Hello Backers,

Sorry for the lack of updates - after sending the files to the printer, we had to work out a few kinks and then waited quite a while for the pre-production samples to arrive.

Well, they're finally here and they look amazing! Check out these photos:

Please note: The runner/helicopter as well as the action and gadget tokens are only 3D printed samples and the tokens are not yet in their actual colors. The manufacturer is still working on the molds and will send us the mass production samples as soon as possible.

We've worked hard to make the game as good as it can be and to give you a great experience when you play it. That's why we upgraded the components wherever we could:

  • The punchboard is now 3.5mm with a linen finish.
  • The action and evidence boards have been upgraded to double-layer boards, all with a linen finish.
  • We've added a "secret research" envelope with more gadgets for the Runner to explore once they reach rank 4.
  • We've included a slipcase that securely holds both double layer boards together with the action and gadget tokens inside. This gives you a nice way to store the tokens and will speed up the setup process tremendously.

While we're waiting for the injection molded samples for the plastic pieces, we'll be doing some more playtesting with the final prototype. We'll also go over everything with a fine-tooth comb to check for errors or spelling mistakes and update the print files if necessary.

We'll start the mass production process as soon as we receive and approve the injection molded samples, and we'll update you once mass production is complete and we're closer to shipping.

We're sorry for the delays. Although RUN comes in a rather small box, it's got tons of components (the prototype box weighed around 2 lbs!) where a lot of things can go wrong. We're committed to delivering a premium game, and really like how it's turning out. After playing a few games with the pre-production copy, we can already say that the game looks, feels, and plays great, and we can't wait to get it into your hands!

Thanks for sticking with us,

Moritz and Tim
