Project Update: Mechritter: New Stickers reveal, 3 hours left to get early bird discounts!

Hi Mausritter Month people!

Hope your day is going well! My day is going great.

Launching this project with Kayla and Gustavo has been so gratifying. We'd hoped to be 50% funded by the end of day one, and we reached there with many hours to spare, which is brilliant news. We're also about to reach our 100th backer, which is a big milestone! We're on track to fund this week, which is brilliant, but of course, we'd love to get over the line earlier.

There are still a couple of hours to go before we have to remove the early bird/first 24 hours discounts from the Kickstarter. If you were planning to back this project, definitely do it now! We will be removing the option to pledge at an early bird level by the end of the day!

I wanted to show off some of the sticker illustrations for Mechritter in more detail. My favourite is the Park Trash one because I love the little water bottle helmet.

I also looove this never-before-seen Chinese restaurant set; what little objects can you spot?

Actually. Which one is your favourite? From left to right: Office Supplies, Chinese Restaurant, and Park Trash.

I put up a poll, so head over there and vote!

How's the campaign going?

I'd be lying if I said I don't feel a tiny bit bad about being the last unfunded project of Mausritter month. However, we are well on target to fund and hit a bunch of stretch goals in the process. The truth is that our "ask" is bigger than many other projects because:

  • Firstly, this is a big project! Lots of art, lots of pages, a setting, factions, adventures, and new mechanics, alongside several sticker sets. That's a big job to produce and so our ask financially is accordingly big.
  • Following on from that, I strongly believe in paying everyone that works on the project well. This is a collaboration between four highly talented writers and artists and we needed to build in a reasonable amount of pay for hours worked. We chose to ask for what we needed rather than going for funding quickly then overfunding to pay people.
  • Also, we aren't a part of the big Pledge Manager/discounted group shipping. This is by design; we wanted to offer a lot of different pieces, such as the sticker sets. That means we weren't able to join, but also because our project is quite heavy, it would have raised the cost of shipping for everyone. By doing it seperately, we can still do our best to keep costs down, but we aren't raising the shipping costs of everyone's zines or forcing ourselves to limit the word count artificially. We do have our own ways to reduce shipping costs through using fulfillment partners and printing close to where we are producing the game in the UK.
  • Finally, we are gonna fund, likely in the first week which is exceptionally quick. So I'm not concerned at all. But neither should you guys be! It helps us greatly if you choose to support our project, especially in the first 48 hours.

In the next update I'll ask Kayla to write something about one of the factions in the book. If there's any you'd like to hear about, please comment on the update!

Reece wants you to back xoxo

One other thing!

If you like OSR stuff, please support the other Mausritter Month projects. However, in addition to that, some good friends of myself and Kayla gave us the opportunity to come on their stream to promote Mechritter, and they're also in the last 24 hours of their project, Danse Macabre, which is a great historical/horror/OSR game set in medieval Constantinople and its environs. I've linked to it here in case anyone is curious! We had a blast playing it on their stream this weekend.
