Poll Comments
Before and during our campaign, we ran several polls to understand your preferences and shape the development of The Exorcist’s Codex. Your feedback was essential! Here Are the Poll Results:
VTT integration can be costly, so we needed your input to determine our investment. Results varied, but around 80% indicated that VTT support was useful, appreciated, or essential. Therefore, we'll include basic VTT assets near our launch in September/October. A full integration was a stretch goal we didn't reach, but we're committed to providing meaningful support.
About 75% preferred longer campaigns. This matches perfectly with our vision for the game, as The Exorcist’s Codex is designed for deep character development and narrative complexity over extended play.
We offer three main scenario types—Exorcisms, Exploration, and Exposure—each subdivided into scenarios varying in length and scope. A balanced campaign typically combines these to create a cohesive narrative. For instance, you might start with a medium Exorcism scenario, follow up with an Exploration scenario to uncover leads, continue with an Exposure scenario, and conclude with a longer, climactic Exorcism scenario.
Details on building scenarios, managing campaign structure, and three ready-to-play scenarios per type are included in the GM’s Guide.
Most of you preferred groups of 3–5 players, aligning well with our recommended size. With 12 distinct professions, each bringing unique strengths and weaknesses, groups of this size provide a balanced range of skills and abilities essential for confronting demonic threats. Additionally, your characters can call upon specialized aid from various Orders to supplement your group’s capabilities, should you feel the need for extra support.
Many backers indicated significant RPG experience, which fits our design intent. While The Exorcist’s Codex is complete and accessible to newcomers, its mature themes, intricate plots, and detailed exorcism mechanics may initially appeal more strongly to experienced gamers. Of course, we warmly welcome new players eager for an immersive experience!
Production Update
Production is progressing smoothly and on schedule! Both the Core Rulebook and GM’s Guide are fully written and currently undergoing final quality checks—proofreading, typos, glossary consistency—with our test groups.
Within a week, we’ll initiate test prints to ensure the highest quality standards. We look forward to sharing images and further updates on mass production and delivery soon. Delivery remains on track for September/October.
We’re currently deep in production for The Exorcist’s Codex. But while the world of The Exorcist’s Codex is haunted by demons, the real world is being haunted by… tariffs.
As you all know, the U.S. government recently announced massive tariff increases on products from China — currently as high as 125%. This decision affects many indie publishers like us who rely on high-quality, affordable printing overseas.
We’re monitoring the situation closely and exploring all our options, as it could affect both our fulfilment costs and timeline. We may need to relocate production, change fulfilment partners, or reroute shipping entirely. At this point, we don’t know how it will play out — and depending on where we end up shipping from, this could affect taxes, VAT, or import duties based on your country of residence.
That said, we want to be absolutely clear: we’ll never ask you to pay more for your pledge, even if our production costs increase substantially. You’ve paid what you pledged — and that’s final.
But now…Let’s talk about what you unlocked!
Thanks to your support, the following upgrades and content are now part of The Exorcist’s Codex:
If you were a pre-launch follower: you’ll receive The Demonologist’s Journal Vol. 1 for free!
You unlocked a premium hardcover upgrade for all hardcover books — thicker cover boards, matte laminated paper, printed endpapers, and higher quality interior paper, all for free!
You unlocked character sheets and tokens for VTT gaming — for free!
You unlocked an additional scenario — for free!
You unlocked five pre-generated characters — for free!
You made all of this possible. And no tariff demon can take that away from us!
We’ll be back soon with more content from the production — and possibly a ritual or two to ward off international trade conflicts.
The campaign is now complete, and all our focus turns to finalizing the books. Here's what comes next:
Payment processing continues until April 8. Note: Shipping will be charged later, closer to the fulfillment stage!
Backers who pledged over $150 can continue using the “Pay Over Time” option until July 25.
After that, production and fulfillment preparation will continue through the summer, with shipping estimated to begin in September.
PS: Please don’t expect the survey to arrive right away—it will be sent out at a later stage, closer to the start of fulfillment.
When it comes to The Exorcist’s Codex, this campaign was just the beginning! With the Core Rulebook and GM’s Guide now fully funded and set for delivery later this year, we're already looking ahead to future expansions, sourcebooks, and appendices. And of course—you, our amazing backers, will be the first to hear what’s coming next!
We’ve got a lot to share in upcoming updates: What you unlocked during the campaign, Poll results, Sneak peeks into The Demonic Symphony, a closer look at the system, Production Updates and more!
