In this Update: Insights from our Campaign Polls + Production Progress Update!
Poll Comments
Before and during our campaign, we ran several polls to understand your preferences and shape the development of The Exorcist’s Codex. Your feedback was essential! Here Are the Poll Results:
VTT integration can be costly, so we needed your input to determine our investment. Results varied, but around 80% indicated that VTT support was useful, appreciated, or essential. Therefore, we'll include basic VTT assets near our launch in September/October. A full integration was a stretch goal we didn't reach, but we're committed to providing meaningful support.
About 75% preferred longer campaigns. This matches perfectly with our vision for the game, as The Exorcist’s Codex is designed for deep character development and narrative complexity over extended play.
We offer three main scenario types—Exorcisms, Exploration, and Exposure—each subdivided into scenarios varying in length and scope. A balanced campaign typically combines these to create a cohesive narrative. For instance, you might start with a medium Exorcism scenario, follow up with an Exploration scenario to uncover leads, continue with an Exposure scenario, and conclude with a longer, climactic Exorcism scenario.
Details on building scenarios, managing campaign structure, and three ready-to-play scenarios per type are included in the GM’s Guide.
Most of you preferred groups of 3–5 players, aligning well with our recommended size. With 12 distinct professions, each bringing unique strengths and weaknesses, groups of this size provide a balanced range of skills and abilities essential for confronting demonic threats. Additionally, your characters can call upon specialized aid from various Orders to supplement your group’s capabilities, should you feel the need for extra support.
Many backers indicated significant RPG experience, which fits our design intent. While The Exorcist’s Codex is complete and accessible to newcomers, its mature themes, intricate plots, and detailed exorcism mechanics may initially appeal more strongly to experienced gamers. Of course, we warmly welcome new players eager for an immersive experience!
