How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.

To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.

All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.

Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.

Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.

When will I be charged for my pledge?

Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.

What happens after the campaign is over?

The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.

The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.

Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.

Project FAQ

⭐ I have a problem! How can I contact you?

If you have any issues with your survey or other urgent concerns: please contact Backerkit support: https://www.backerkit.com/contact. Backerkit support will forward your message to my email. Do not message me on my shops, social media, or comment on the campaign page - if you do that I may miss your message or lose track of it (feel free to comment for any non-urgent issues of course).

Can I include items from your shops with my order?

For ease of fulfillment I am not offering shop item bundling for this campaign.

My situation changed and I need a refund.

If the campaign funding period is still in progress, you can cancel your pledge. If the campaign has ended, you have 14 days from the campaign end date to request a full refund. After this time no refunds will be given - this includes if you make duplicate orders, accidentally order addons, or make other mistakes with your survey! Please check your survey carefully. The only exception is if I am unable to ship to you, and this refund will be minus any Backerkit fees and taxes.

Can I change my survey selections?

Yes, surveys will be unlocked right before the pins ship to backers, so you can make any last-minute changes. If you change your selections at this time, and there are an insufficient number of pins to cover your selections, you may receive a B-grade pin, be asked to select a different pin, or have your pledge delayed by several months while more pins are made.

When will you charge cards for pledges and addons?

You can expect charges when the campaign ends, and right before pins ship to backers for shipping and addons. Please also expect a charge for shipping shortly before pledges are shipped.

Will backers get a coupon for extras?

Yes, backers will get a coupon for campaign extras in my shop. However I cannot guarantee leftovers will be available of all items, to guarantee getting an item it's best to pledge during the campaign.

How do I qualify for cross collab incentive with Cryptid Crushes?

Will I be charged for preorder items that don't reach their funding goal?

No, any preorder items that do not reach their funding goal will be removed and you will not be charged for them.

I missed the campaign and preorder store, can I still get the items?

Yes, any leftovers will be made available in my shop after campaign fulfillment is complete, but no guarantees there will be leftovers of everything.

What can I do if I provided the wrong address?

If it's before addresses are locked, you can change it by accessing your survey. If it's after addresses have been locked, please reach out to USPS directly - no replacements or refunds will be given if you input the wrong address.

Will you add any more pledge tiers?

No. If you want to add more pins to your pledge you can add them via the Addons menu - make sure to get the discounted addon if you pledge for four or more pins.

What are the "preorder pins"?

You can check the first update for a few sketches. I haven't finalized all these designs but to summarize they will be fanart pins plus a few original designs that did not fit with the campaign theme: including the rest of my Astrological and Zodiac putti, and Pride Angels variants. If there's sufficient interest I'll plan to add some of the designs to the campaign as stretch goals.
