The Quarryton Calamity is a Zero or 1st level horror adventure for Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG or Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition.
This dark adventure is designed to be run as an intro to the larger Castle Whiterock campaign, and is set in its universe. However, this adventure can be easily transported to any fantasy setting.
The adventurers will be called by the Sorrowbarrow twins, a pair who rule the town of Greyvale. The nearby town of Quarryton has gone dark, and they are concerned for their cousin (who happens to possess a priceless family artifact). They offer a king's ransom to the party that ventures to Quarryton to uncover its fate.
A 1-3 Session adventure designed as the beginning of a larger campaign.
Can be run as a Zero-Level funnel or a regular level one adventure. A chilling introduction to the world of Castle Whiterock.
Six new body horror monsters that can reappear in future campaigns!
Compatible with Dungeon Crawl Classics, D&D 5E (2014), and D&D 5.5E (2024).

Whiterock Castle Collab
Back this project at any level to receive a horrifying addition to the Weird Works "Lost Level" encounter! We'll be writing and delivering room 1-3, a tunnel where your party will encounter dark corridors infected by unique worm-human hybrids formed from the dark horrors originating from this adventure's calamity.
Whiterock Castle Lost Level Map
Quarryton Calamity will be an approximately 30-page, staple-bound book. Filled with illustrations by master fantasy artist Kurt Komoda (and perhaps some additional guest illustrators). The layout will be conducted by Ennie Award-winning designer Bee Ho.
9" x 6" (zine-size) softcover staple-bound book.
30+ black and white, horror-filled pages
The adventure has been tested against many brave groups of adventurers, and will be run several more times before fulfillment.
The Quarryton Calamity can be run as a funnel adventure. This means each player will control four commoners, hoping at least one survives the dark horrors of the mines below. If they do have at least one survivor, then they have their level one adventurer, ready to delve into the dangers of Castle Whiterock!
Zero-level rules are built into Dungeon Crawl Classics, and the system has become a con favorite, and works perfectly with this adventure.
Weird Works also publishes the Zero Level Rulebook for 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons. These rules allow you to roll up four commoners in about 20 minutes. Roll the stats down the line, roll hit points, and roll an occupation based on your character's highest ability score. If any commoners survive the adventure, there are also rules for leveling the character up to one.
Weird Works also makes self-inking RPG stamps that will be perfect for your Whiterock Castle adventures! Back them as part of this campaign, and you'll get a steep discount off their regular price!
Death Stamp Set
The death stamps are fantastic for zero level adventures to mark the deaths of the commoners as they face down the horrors of the Quarryton mines.
Adventure Stamp Set
We also have several other stamps which are fantastic for players to journal their adventure beyond the Quarryton Calamity, and into the dark depths of the multiple levels of the Castle Whiterock megadungeon.
Create an adventure journal by passing your stamps around the table after signficant milestones!
