Project Update: ๐ŸŽ“You Did It! We're Backed and About To Send Rewards! ๐ŸŽ“

Thank each and every one of you for helping bring Greenspires to life!

You shared, you viewed, you spread the word and gave feedback. And most importantly, you backed!

Because of you and your awesome actions, the realm you see above, the philosophy-focused adventure region of Greenspires, home of The Witch's Wyrd, is about to tell its first chapter at your gaming tables and VTTs.

Here's how that tale will unfold:
  1. This weekend: Archie and I put the finishing touches on the modules - and a surprise bonus piece of content, his Slides from the course he taught, updated for the current incarnation of The Witch's Wyrd, which will be available to all via the Witch Pleas Publishing website, linked in the digital content you'll receive.
  2. Early next week: We send out the PDFs of Old John Stuart's Mill, for D&D 5e and Dungeon Crawl Classics, via DriveThruRPG.
  3. By end of July: The presses start rolling on Old John Stuart's Mill print editions! We'll also reach out about organizing the seminar with Archie for the hard-core cadre interested in having a discussion with him on how to bring gaming to education, and vice versa!
  4. In August: The Roll20 versions of Old John Stuart's Mill for D&D 5e and Dungeon Crawl Classics will be complete. We'll also send out a survey to gather your input on how to craft the next module in The Witch's Wyrd series, entitled The Ruins of Resurrection, an exhilarating exploration of the nature of self.
  5. By September: The books and posters are printed and we send out surveys to gather your shipping information and payments. The books and posters then ship!

All throughout, we'll keep you posted and keep pouring out our gratitude. You've made the inaugural module of The Witch's Wyrd, Old John Stuart's Mill, into a true phenomenon. We want to reward that passion by continuing to expand on its outstanding content over the months and years to come.

For now, thank you for making it happen!

Project Update: ๐Ÿ“šOnly 24 Hours to Go and New Maps to Show ๐Ÿ“š

Behold! Above is Alexander Moore's awesome area map for Old John Stuart's Mill.

It's a day away from being done, according to the ever-industrious Alexander. And for the followers who just clicked in and want me to get to the point, here's what's also 24 hours away for Old John Stuart's Mill:

  • Only 24 hours left to get a PDF copy, for D&D 5e or DCC, within a week
  • Only 24 hours left to get the Roll20 version, for DCC or D&D, within a month
  • Only 24 hours left to get a spot on a seminar by GenCon speaker and U. of Calgary philosophy instructor, Archie Fields III, on how he wove gaming into education and how you can do it too
  • Only 24 hours to get the print editions at a discount - along with other add ons - shipping within a quarter
  • And only 24 hours to get exclusive Kickstarter add ons, like Stefan Poag's map of our new philosophy-focused town within the lands of Lohre, Greenspires!

So check out Old John Stuart's Millfor those exclusive BackerKit offers today, before it's too late!

And for those who scrolled this low,
check out the map by Stefan Poag with lettering for each new location in The Witch's Wyrd, shown below!

Over half of them are in modules yet to come, which means the adventure has just begun.

Join the philosophy-focused party now! And endless thanks to all who have supported, spread the world and assisted this one-of-a-kind journey.

Project Update: ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธWe Have a Map, More Art and Only Two Days to Go!

We could hardly wait to share the map of Greenspires with you, which arrived from the pen of Stefan Poag!

Though shown below in its unmarked form, the maps distributed with the digital version and on the poster will have place locations. But for you, our backers, an exclusive early look at the unblemished and untrodden fields of Greenspire village and its surrounding environs, from which the saga of The Witch's Wyrd will grow!

Thank you
for nurturing the seeds of this philosophy-focused adventure series. We're also elated to share with you a pair of character portraits, illustrated by Berly Brumble. Berly has been a brilliant part of The Witch's Wyrd's entire evolution, and we're honored and elated to feature her characters in the work.

Speaking of elated, we're counting the minutes until Old John Stuart's Mill ends its crowdfunding campaign. There's only 51 hours to go before it begins its final stretch to an Inbox and mailbox near you!

These next steps will include:
  • Over the next week, distribution of the PDF versions
  • Over the next month, distribution of the Roll20 versions
  • Over the next quarter, printing and shipping of the print version

We'll keep you updated every step of the way, with our profound thanks. We are so grateful for your outstanding support, as each and every one of you played a part in turning this philosophy-focused TTRPG into a true phenomenon!

Project Update: Interior Art, Monthly Monsters and 5e Actual Play with Actual Philosophers!

Behold the bone-chilling conclusion of Old John Stuart's Mill, backers, rendered by the ever-awesome Stefan Poag!

In these final weeks of the crowdfunding campaign you've supported, interior art is arriving and we're elated to share it with you. Along with Stefan's scene of horror, we received another interior piece, this dread-inducing image from the amazing Alexander Moore:

It's all coming together, backers, all thanks to you. As we approach the final two weeks of the campaign, we're doing all we can to spread the world about the philosophy-focused gaming phenomenon that is Old John Stuart's Mill and to show our appreciation to you.

That includes the freeware we send you! We refer to our Monthly Monster Hunt for July, Fafnir: The Dragon Who Was Gollum. It's usually sent out on the 1st of every month, but for July, we've pushed back our usual monthly email to July 6. Why?

Because we've got so many cool things on the way to share that are happening over just the next few days! They include:
  • Release of Hunters of the Goblin Grove, Pirates of the Goblin River and Pilgrims of the Goblin Road on Roll20 as fully playable modules, including maps, automated NPCs and a bevy of handouts.
  • An actual play recording of our philosophy-focused DCC funnel/1st-Level D&D 5e adventure, Old John Stuart's Mill, featuring actual philosophers! Run by author and University of Calgary instructor, Archie Fields III, and played by philosophy scholars, publishers and the head of U. of Calgary's philosophy department, this is a recording that is not to be missed by fans of education in gaming!

With so much just about to happen, we want to make sure everyone is on the mailing list and doesn't miss out. So if you've yet to sign up, go to Witch Pleas Publishing's website and sign up for your free games and these fabulous updates, under the heading Free Games and Lohre Galore - or grab your free copy of Conquest, the story-rich, rules-light wargame for fantasy TTRPGs.

We hope you have a fabulous holiday in the meantime, and will keep you updated on the exciting final weeks of the campaign you supported. And, as ever, we thank you all for your support, inspiration and enthusiasm!
