✨My name is Kat and I am the illustrator and creator of Witch Way Familiars — a heartfelt project born from my original artwork and a deep love for comfort creatures. My passion for bringing my cozy, whimsical characters to life stems a lot from the experiences and struggles I've personally had in the past. As an adult with anxiety and PTSD, my plushies provide me a sense of safety and relaxation during times of stress and uncertainty - which is why my dragons especially are designed with emotional support in mind.
✨When it comes to being a business owner, there is nothing more important to me than connection though the community that I love so much. I have learned over the past several years through my plushies that thousands of adults who struggle with chronic health conditions rely on the comfort of their stuffed animals to maintain functionality within their lives. It proves that love can heal what life tries to break down, and soft snuggles on bad pain days really do make a difference when overcoming daily adversities. Just having a friend nearby, even an inanimate one, that can be relied on to offer a hug, or a listening ear is not only helpful, but vital at times.
✨This is exactly what I hope to provide to the plushie community - not only fluffy friends with built-in emotional support features in mind, but hope in the form of something tangible, soft, and steadfast.

✨Through launching this campaign, my goal is to cover the upfront costs of manufacturing through the pledges I receive. The costs include, but are not limited to, plush production, choosing quality materials, safety testing, shipping logistics, and more. ✨Plushies that have yet to have a sample made will be around the same dimensions as the above. Product photos will be shown throughout the creation process and campaign.✨
✨TRACKING NUMBERS: You will be emailed a tracking number once your order is ready to be shipped. It will be to the email that you provided for your pledge.
✨ADDITIONALFEES: If you live outside of the U.S. then you are responsible for any additional fees that need to be paid, such as duties and/or taxes. I, nor Backerkit, collect these fees.
✨DELIVERIES SENT TO WRONG ADDRESSES: I (Witch Way Familiars) am not responsible for any lost, stolen, or mis-delivered packages. So, please double check that your shipping info is correct when it is asked for in the survey’s that are sent out at the end of the campaign.
✨SHIPPING TIMELINE: The shipping timeline is only an ESTIMATE. Shipping delays are possible and may occur during the production process.
✨CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS: Once your payment has been processed, refunds and cancellations will not be accepted. Crowdfunding campaigns are not the same as ordering products from a shop. All items are made in bulk and therefore funds generated are immediately sent to my chosen manufacturer for production to begin (once the funds are deposited). If you do not fill out your survey within three months after the campaign ends, then your pledge will be considered a donation.
✨PLEDGE POLICY: Once your pledge is collected after the campaign has ended, it will be believed that you have accepted the above terms/risks of providing your pledge to this campaign and understand its implications wholly after reading it.
✨Estimated Shipping Fees: (These are estimated through the USPS)
✨SAFETY AND QUALITY TESTING: My manufacturer utilizes ASTM+CPSIA, which means that all products will be tested to meet toy safety standards.
✨DEFECTS: Creating plushies during bulk production is conducted primarily by human hands. As a result, defects can and do occur. However, I will be quality checking all products before they are shipped out.
✨PLUSHIE COLORS: Colors and styles that are represented will be the same as the products sent out. The only slight variation may be if/when plushie illustrations that haven’t been made into plushies yet have been unlocked. However, if these designs do become unlocked and samples are therefore made, everyone will be updated in the community/updates sections.
✨POSSIBLE DELAYS: With any large-scale project, shipping delays are common. But I will make sure to communicate if/when they happen and the reasoning behind them. Patience and kindness are always appreciated ❤️
I’m Kat, and I’m the owner, designer, and artist of Witch Way Familiars. After years of being a lover of plushies, I finally decided to take the plunge into designing and creating my own magical creatures. Having a background as an art major really helped me to determine what styles, materials, and details I felt like should be included in my plushies.
So, what inspires me as a plushie designer? That’s an easy one! My daughter ❤️ Her imagination and mine seem to speak a language all our own. I ask her what types of creatures she’d like to have me create and then I get to work straight away! We both have an adoration for all things magical and fantasy-based, so as you can imagine, there is never a lack of creativity in my home.
A note on my background - I am a witchy momma from a rainbow household that lives on a small island in MA. 🌈 Nature is my second biggest passion and helps me to escape reality when I need a moment to breathe. I also am a chronic health warrior that overcomes my POTS, EDS, Endometriosis, anxiety, and Sacroilitis by creating art even when I’m stuck in bed.
My personal goal with my familiars is to be able to utilize them to remind others that no matter the obstacles presented in life that they can always be tackled with a little hope, perseverance, kindness and love. There’s nothing you cannot achieve if you set your mind to it ❤️ And having a little, magical creature by your side who can help you through it all makes even the dark days a little brighter ☀️
