The Madness of Metronax is a low-level adventure for Dungeon Crawl Classics and 5e that increases ties between Castle Whiterock and nearby Cillamar. And it has magical giant ants!
The (not final) cover of The Madness of Metronax for DCC
Metronax the wizard was an up-and-coming adventurer, well respected in Cillamar and a frequenter of the Inn of the Slumbering Drake. But a combination of hubris and magical mayhem turned him into...something else. Now, with his physical and mental forms twisted beyond recognition, he plans his revenge on all those he believes betrayed him, even if that means he must bring Cillamar itself crumbling down!
In order to stop him, a brave group of adventurers will have to navigate the strange tunnels of a giant ant colony where things are even more bizarre than they could have predicted. Once there, they may:
Do battle with an eclectic collection of magical giant ants!
Navigate perilous traps!
Meet the disembodied head of an immortal dwarf!
Help reunite some lost shroomans!
Confront Metronax himself in a battle for the ages!
Retrieve treasures lost to Metronax's machinations!
The (not final) cover of The Madness of Metronax for Fifth Edition
The Madness of Metronax contains:
A low-level adventure for Dungeon Crawl Classics (2nd level) and D&D 5e (3rd level)
Multiple plot-hooks (and a literal tunnel) connecting it to Castle Whiterock and Cillamar.
13 original statblocks
1 new spell for Dungeon Crawl Classics: Sabledu's Frozen Gale!
Meet the Thistle Man in Silam No. 1: The Spike of Dosku!
My name is jordy and I publish my TTRPG work as Wizards With Laser Rifles. It's a huge honor to be included in Goodman Games' Megadungeon Month! Dungeon Crawl Classics was the first TTRPG that truly got me excited and made me want to Make Stuff—and now I am!
As a simple add-on for this campaign, I'm offering a discount on digital and physical versions of Silam, my ongoing series of zines for DCC. Each one builds out the setting with new gameable content and a full adventure. I'm really proud of them and if you enjoy DCC I think you'll get plenty out of them, whether you want to run Silam as a campaign or harvest it for parts!
Evade an Origami Butterfly Swarm in Silam No. 2: The Trials of Riao!
Between the three zines (more coming in the future!) you get:
A history and map of the setting
3 new classes (original races!)
5 deities with custom tables and attributes for your clerics
3 adventures—A funnel and two Level 1s
A new spell--A magical punch that makes your foes disappear from memory!
Original monsters—every statblock is original and useable at your table
7 magical items
More stuff—this list is getting really long!
Future issues will continue to build and include more dungeons—at current estimate, Silam will run for seven total issues. If you'd like to see more, you can check out the DriveThruRPG pages for Silam No. 1, Silam No. 2 and Silam No. 3.
Watch what streets you stumble down in Silam No. 3: The Galleries of Varsu!
For this project, I'm excited to have three stretch goals that are all activated in different ways!
Stickers! I've wanted to do a sticker for the Wizards With Laser Rifles logo for a long time and who doesn't want a Metronax The Ant Wizard sticker? If we can break the goal by $250, everybody physical backer gets a WWLR sticker and if we break the goal by $500, Metronax becomes a sticker as well!
If you back The Madness of Metronax and Mutant Spawn of the Toadmother, you'll receive a free sticker sheet collaboratively made by myself and Andy Edmonds! (But you should be backing Mutant Spawn anyway because it's going to rock!)
We're contributing to the Lost Level of Castle Whiterock stretch goal! If you back Castle WhiterockandThe Madness of Metronax, you will receive an envelope and map for a lost level of that megadungeon from Goodman Games and a one-page room description from me! Every indie DCC publisher you back gets you another room, provided by that publisher (So back as many as you can!). Any rooms not covered are there for you to detail! This will include stats for Dungeon Crawl Classics and Fifth Edition.
Wizards With Laser Rifles will be contributing room 1-6–A lost dwarven campsite where something greedy stirs...
Backing gets you Room 1-6 of the Castle Whiterock Lost Level and backing Mutant Spawn of the Toadmother gets you a free sticker sheet!
The current plan is to print through Mixam—they've printed my last 3 projects, with multiple printings, and the quality has always been stellar. They're U.S. based.
Shipping is not included in the pledge value. Shipping will be assessed via pledge manager closer to the fulfillment stage. Everything will be shipping from Chicago, IL, where Wizards With Laser Rifles is based. I will be favoring the most cost-effective shipping methods for every location but international shipping is volatile and difficult to predict.
PDF Fulfillment will be done through DriveThruRPG.
