Project Update: Other Awesome Stuff!

Hey everybody, a quick update just to say that there are some very cool things you should be checking out if you haven't yet!

First: The fantastic Andy Edmonds' Mutant Spawn of the Toadmother is doing amazing and you'd be a fool (a dang fool!) not to get in on it! I was privileged enough to be one of the very first playtesters and I think about it every night before I go to sleep. And again when I wake up with (very cool) nightmares. PLUS, if you back Andy's campaign (since you're already backing mine) you can get a sticker sheet with art from both of our modules! Monstrous toads and magical giant ants to decorate your water bottles and laptops and car bumpers with–what more could anybody ask for? According to BackerKit, we've got a 70% cross-over going here so I implore the 30% left to go check out this very fun/creepy/cool adventure!

Second: There's a huge DriveThruRPG DCC sale going on that includes all the third-party creators you love! So go there and load up a digital cartload! There's so much stuff–it's a fantastic time to be a DCC fan! Sale ends May 1st.

Third: Finally, Goodman Games is giving us third-party folks the wonderful opportunity to speak to their YouTube audience! I think all of the Castle Whiterock projects are super cool and you can see a selection of them in this video! My project will be featured in an upcoming video alongside others–I'm not going to spam y'all with updates, but it's worth your time to subscribe to Goodman Games' YouTube channel where you can get all kinds of updates on what they're up to with Castle Whiterock and beyond!

Project Update: Sabeldu's Frozen Gale!

Wow–we've broken 5k in funds! This campaign has really gone far beyond my expectations and it's been so cool to see so many folks jumping in! Thanks to everybody for backing and an extra thanks to folks for sharing the campaign! As we enter the middle phase of the campaign, progress tends to slow–if you feel inspired, a post to social media, Reddit, your favorite Discords, or just a text message to a gaming buddy can really help keep momentum for the campaign! (But please only post it somewhere where that's cool, I would hate for anybody to be accused of spamming, that's a bummer).

For fun, I wanted to go ahead and show off something featured in the adventure–a new spell for DCC! When writing The Madness of Metronax, I wanted to base the various magical giant ant abilities off of various popular wizard spells. Looking through the DCC and Fifth Edition spell lists, I came up with a good list of what I thought would make interesting powers, but I also noticed that DCC didn't have a relatively-low-level ice-based spell. So I made one–which the PCs can find a scroll for in the DCC version of the module! The spell doesn't require the Whiterock setting so you can include it in any DCC game you run in the future as an additional Level 1 spell. You could include it from the beginning of a Whiterock campaign or make it something to be found–whatever is more fun for you.

And so, I present to you–Sabledu’s Frozen Gale! The spell is named after Jean Baptiste Point du Sable, the founder of Chicago (where I'm proud to live). Please note that this is not the actual layout, this is me throwing the edited copy into Affinity and making it presentable for you all ahead of actual layout–the final version will look better and include art!

If I'm doing this correctly (my first BackerKit campaign, apologies if I'm goofing up!) then the Dropbox link should be below this and only visible to Backers. I hope you're having a great day with great gaming in your future!

Project Update: Excitement and stickers and the 5e Cover!

Wow, everybody, I didn't expect to wake up to numbers like this! Over 200 people have backed TMoM–that's more than double either of the previous Wizards With Laser Rifles campaigns. It's so cool to see more people jumping in–my heartfelt thanks to everybody both for backing and for sharing the campaign, it means so much!

And because we absolutely crushed the stretch goals, every physical backer will be receiving stickers–a Wizards With Laser Rifles logo and a Metronax The Mad Ant Wizard! Super jazzed to cover my laptop in these.

I did, however, make one mistake when I set up this campaign. I neglected to show off the Fifth Edition version of the cover! In following Goodman Games' (very cool) tradition of having Fifth Edition covers harken back to the old TSR days, Sean has cooked up this very fun cover for the Fifth Edition version of The Madness of Metronax. This is still a draft, the specifics of things like copy will change a bit, but it's a very good showing of what we're aiming for and I'm very excited to put it on my bookshelf!

I've now added this cover to the campaign Story, but for folks who follow WWLR, I thought you deserved to get a special notification for it!

Project Update: Funded!

The Madness of Metronax is funded!

Thank you so much to all of you who helped make this happen! I know there's So Much Happening with Mega Dungeon Month, I really appreciate you choosing to spend some of your hard-earned dollars on this adventure! I'm really excited to get it into layout and art so you can see the fully-realized version of this adventure that I've had such a blast playtesting and writing.

There's still three weeks in the campaign--as someone who actively distrusts The Algorithm, there's really nothing better you can do to help out than share the campaign with folks you think might be interested. Person-to-person sharing is always the most meaningful way to communicate things!

I hope your Tuesday is as good as mine and thank you again for helping make this campaign a success!
