BackerKit FAQ

How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.

To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.

All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.

Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.

Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.

When will I be charged for my pledge?

Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.

What happens after the campaign is over?

The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.

The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.

Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.

Project FAQ

Who is creating this movie?

We're Zombie Orpheus Entertainment and Dead Gentlemen Productions, the companies that produced The Gamers, Dorkness Rising, Hands of Fate, Humans & Households, Natural One, and The Gamers: The Series!

Is this an official Gamers production?

It is! The script was developed in collaboration with the full Gamers creative team in 2017 and we're finally able to produce it. It's released under the Shared Cinematic Universe License Agreement (SCULA), like the rest of the Gamers films.

What's happening with Gamers 4? How does this story connect?

Gamers 4 (Dorkness Falls) is in production right now with Cabin Nine films. It follows the adventures of the real-world characters who were pulled into Fartherall by The Shadow. Attack of the Pwns (and Gamers the Series) follows the fantasy characters who were pulled into the real world. Attack of the Pwns takes place just before the end of Hands of Fate, leading directly to the game table scene where both sets of fantasy heroes meet for the first time. Our proposed third and final Gamers the Series episode, Revenge of the Myth, takes places concurrently with Gamers 4 and wraps up the story of the fantasy characters stuck on Earth.

And you're already done with production?

We are! We shot Attack of the Pwns in November 2024 and January 2025, during a fortuitous window when the entire cast was available. We're already deep into post production.

What about JourneyQuest 4?

JQ4 is produced by a different team at ZOE and DG. They recently released their backer survey and are currently working on physical reward fulfillment. That film is done and has been screened for backers. If you're a JQ4 backer and you haven't seen the movie yet, please check your BackerKit account for information about redeeming that reward.

Didn't you already publish a Nodwick comic?

We published a volume with the first half of the Nodwick story and the Demon Hunters web comic in 2017. This is the first book that contains the completed Nodwick arc, through to when Nodwick and Princess foil The Shadow's plans at the end of The Gamers: Hands of Fate.

Can I get a discount if I opt out of physical rewards?

No. We are keeping reward levels as simple as possible and don't want to double the number of pledge levels. It would become even more complex to calculate per-item discounts for backers who, for example, wanted a physical disc but a digital booster pack. At the end of the day, the bulk of your pledge dollars go into production, not manufacturing. Pledges have always been primarily about supporting the film, with rewards as a bonus. The irony is that most backers who elect for digital-only rewards will save money by printing their files locally, since shipping now costs more than manufacturing!

Was generative AI used in the development and production of this film?

No. This project is imagined, written, filmed, edited, and created by humans.
