I created The Young’nz as a reflection of my passion for creative entrepreneurship and my deep connection to social and cultural movements. I wanted to merge urban street culture, technology, and the power of youth rebellion against corporate control. Through these characters, I explore themes of independence, innovation, and resistance—core values that I hold close as someone who’s worked in entertainment and licensing.
My inspiration for the comic comes from my desire to highlight how young people, especially those from inner cities, can challenge societal norms and use their talents to make a real impact on the world around them. Including “The Hip-Hop Lollipop” in the storyline was my way of showing how creativity and business can intersect, even when the odds are stacked against you. The Young’nz also represents my belief in defending cultural identity and freedom of expression, using art, music, and technology as catalysts for change.
Ultimately, The Young’nz is my way of inspiring a new generation to embrace their creative potential, stand up against oppressive forces, and shape their own futures.
