Project Update: We need your design help – choose what we prototype next! πŸ‘¨β€πŸ

πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡ Illustrations below πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

One of the things we like about the Fire Pit Grill is its simplicity.

It’s a grill stripped down to the basics, designed to do two things really well; build fires and grill tasty foods.

From a design point of view, the simplicity of the Fire Pit Grill creates an opportunity – just as it serves as a foundation for your cooking fire, it can serve as a platform for add-ons. Its basicness makes it a perfect chassis for specific pieces of hardware that add functionality.

We’ve launched this campaign with the basic elements in place, but they are just the tip of the iceberg. You see, we want this campaign to be about more than just raising money from backers, we want this project to be about developing an idea together.

To get this πŸ”₯ started Ted has scribbled out three of the add-ons we’ve been toying with.

Prototyping is not a guarantee of anything! It is part of setting up an experiment which puts a hunch or a hypothesis to the test. Who knows what we will learn during this process! But we think it will be fun to do it together. πŸ‘¨β€πŸ

Tell us which of these you want to see prototyped most! πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

Thanks, Anonymous Cardinal #382161! I made a welding fixture for the grill grate yesterday and will be working on putting it together today. I couldn't find where the poll results were coming in so I ended up starting with these two. Turns out I made these in 100% the wrong order and I'm ending with the most popular of the three – the one you chose – the ring grate. πŸ€ͺ

My first choice would be the ring grate, and my second choice would be the rotisserie. Really, I want both! I’d also love a large slightly curved pan (like a sajj) that could cook bigger quantities than a cast iron fry pan (like a big shallow wok).

@Anonymous Bluejay #1471916: hope you've been able to check out the rotisserie experiment in this update: https://www.backerkit.com/c/Fourneau/Fourneau-Fire-Pit-Grill/updates/82#top

Hi, there! I want both too! Going to see if we can get a hacked rotisserie to work today. Starting off attaching it to the fire pit grill insert rather than attaching it to the 30" fire pit. Love the Sajj. Will see what we can find out there that is the right size so we can "hack" it and show you how it works. We just did a video with a smaller, "tossable" wok. But a big one that can rest on the three high points of the fire pit grill would be awesome. Thanks for weighing in and I hope you can share the project with your community and any grilling groups you're a part of!

I have a request. I have found it impossible to find heat resistant leather gloves in smaller (women’s) sizes. I’m using huge mens gloves but they are very clumsy for me. I know you offer gloves. If you could have them in two sizes that would be incredible!

Yes, absolutely. The gloves we are offering will be available for you to choose a size between medium, large, and extra large. The smallest size we can get for these insulated leather gloves is the medium. Thanks for writing!
