How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.
To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.
All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.
Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.
Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.
When will I be charged for my pledge?
Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.
What happens after the campaign is over?
The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.
Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.
Project FAQ
What will the shipping costs be?
Shipping will be charged via BackerKit after the end of the campaign, after the survey period ends. You will be informed via BackerKit about this when this occurs. See the Shipping & Fulfillment section of our campaign page for additional details. These costs are estimates based on the information currently available and will be charged through BackerKit, after our fulfillment partners communicate the best shipping rates available to us at that time.
When and where do I provide my shipping info?
Once this ABLAZE campaign successfully concludes, we will reach out with a survey via BackerKit to request all of the information needed to fulfill your rewards, including your shipping address. We will post updates on the campaign as surveys become available.
How will we receive our digital rewards?
Digital PDF editions of KINKY KARROT assets will be distributed by BackerKit, our fulfillment partner, directly to the email address to which your order is registered.
I have moved since the campaign was completed. How do I update my mailing address?
In Your BackerKit Account Click ‘Settings’ at the top of the page, and then click ‘Update Address’ - this will update your shipping details for all of your unlocked surveys. On Your Survey To update your shipping information, click on your BackerKit survey confirmation link that was sent to your email. If you need this link to resent, please go to our survey recovery page here. If your address is open, you will be able to see and click ‘Edit Shipping Info’ to update your shipping details. To update the country or state, please contact support for assistance. Since project creators charged different shipping rates depending on the country/state, only our admin team can update this information. Pro-tip: Some backers are able to get their country and state to change by updating their Zip Code! Please note: We will issue multiple notices when fulfillment for this campaign is imminent. If you fail to update your address before your rewards are shipped and they are delivered to an incorrect or previous address, ABLAZE will be unable to refund or replace your order, due to the limited quantities manufactured and expense incurred in doing so. You are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of your own address and mailing information in order to receive your purchase.
Why am I being charged an additional amount for international customs?
Customs are the sovereign law of a country on imports or exports (https://help.kickstarter.com/hc/en-us/articles/1260805506049-Why-am-I-being-asked-to-pay-customs-fees-for-my-reward-). Any duties, taxes, and customs clearance fees that may be levied on a reward as a result will be the responsibility of the backer. Please note that Total Shipping costs reflect the total you will pay for shipping and handling for your reward(s). For international orders, please note that your country might have additional VAT fees or customs duties for which ABLAZE will not collect in advance. You will be 100% responsible for any of those fees should they be applied, and ABLAZE will not refund any international orders that are refused due to VAT or customs fees beyond our control.
I missed filling out my survey. What should I do?
After the Kickstarter campaign ends, Kickstarter will charge you for your pledged amount. If there are any problems with your payment method, Kickstarter will reach out to you to have the issue corrected and your payment charged. Any add-ons or upgrades added to your pre-order after the Kickstarter campaign ends during the survey period will be charged through BackerKit.
Will these rewards be exclusive to backers?
These items are exclusive to this campaign. Softcover editions will be offered for sale in comic book shops and bookstore channels. This is the first and only chance to make sure your limited-edition copies are reserved and accounted for via pre-order.
This campaign is taking too long for fulfillment and I would like a refund. What is your refund policy?
Due to the nature of this pre-order campaign, we are unable to offer refunds. All of the items described are extremely limited in nature and expensive to produce. As such, once your order is received, we will be unable to process a refund. ABLAZE does everything within its power to deliver on the estimated fulfillment dates, if they change based on a variety factors (manufacturing and shipping) beyond the company’s control we update backers. Also, Backerkit cannot process payments or refunds once your credit card has expired.
I’m a comic shop owner, independent bookstore owner, or other retailer. Can I get the Kickstarter editions for my store?
Yes! Any retail partner who wishes to carry the Kickstarter products in their store can contact us directly about purchasing these items at wholesale. Please contact us directly at [email protected] to inquire about wholesale pricing options.
