I’m sure you know by now, but Murka is a high-fantasy playable parody of the all-too-real, capitalist hellscape known as the United States of America.
What makes Murka different, you (didn’t) ask? I’ll tell you. Furry druids, dragons with guns for faces, food magic, Walmoria, gunchucks, explosives, items that aren’t just cursed, but cursed... You get the picture.
This world is a labor of love that my friends and I have been working on for 10 yearsoh my god, has it really only been five years? Are we in the finale episode of some television show jumping its 13th shark? What the hell is going on?
I hope you have fun with this little nearly 60-page sampler PDF. We picked stuff that we thought was bite-sized and funny, but there’s around 800 more pages of content where this came from.
We'd love to meet you, answer your questions about Murka, and welcome you to our community. Just click here to join us on Discord!
Cheers, thanks for reading this far. See you all real soon. Jaron R. M. Johnson, and the Action Fiction Faction
My players keep asking me if they can use "Flesh to Stone" to give their enemies kidney stones. Monsters.
But also yes, I don't see why not.
My fellow Murkans,
When Wizard War III inevitably breaks out in our immediate future, rest assured that you'll be able to command the magical forces of gourmomancy, economancy, and arcane explosions with ease.
We have now unlocked:
190k: Printable Spell Cards
Now everybody, please open your spellbooks to page 420 as we read together...
Printable Spell Cards
Our resident graphics sorceress supreme will be taking all of the spells from all three compendiums and turning them into print-ready spell cards. This will be included as a free digital reward for anyone backing the Digital Bundle, tier or above, and for anyone getting the VTT add-on! So, if you're currently in an add-ons only level, or you've been considering picking up that VTT, there's no better time than now!

Reminder: Live Stream on Thursday
We'll be doing another Livestream TOMORROW, August 7th, at 6:30 PM Eastern, 3:30 PM Pacific, where we'll be showcasing our new Eating Competitionmechanics, These mechanics will be at the crux of one of our new one-shot adventures, and this will be the first time we talk about it publicly!
Come hang out, chat with us, ask us some questions, and keep throwing out those Community Suggestions!
Last minute reminder: Soundtrack poll
HEY DON'T FORGET TO VOTE IN THE SOUNDTRACK POLL! Winners announced in Tomorrows livestream! Right now third place is at a pretty neck-and-neck tie (but not a naked necktie, those are two different things), so be sure to get your votes in!
If you're seeing this, then we are actively livestreaming on Backerkit and Twitch! Come hang out as we showcase our brand new Eating Competition mechanics, in our Murkan History mechanics showcase, set at the Plane's Fair (quite different from the World's Fair, I assure you) over a century ago. We'll also be chatting about some of our new add-ons and our plans for the rest of the campaign! And, of course, we'll be more than happy to answer all your burning Murka questions.
Soundtrack Poll Winners
If you're reading this, it means the winners haven't been announced yet and there's still time to vote (or Jaron was bad and forgot to come back and edit this during the live stream, whoops!). The polls will close at 7 PM Eastern, 4 PM Pacific, just 30 minutes into our live stream!
Have a small taste of the kind of music Reed over at Fable Factory will be cooking up. This is the Jester's Jingle Medley, a mashup of every commercial jingle you've ever heard and then some.
See you soon!

CRISS-CROSS!
My fellow Murkans,
I am overwhelmingly thrilled to announce the following: We get to make another one-shot adventure! This rounds out with having one adventure for each book now, which is a huge achievement. I absolutely LOVE writing adventures, and this one is gonna be a bop.
We have now unlocked:
180k:Monsters of Murka: Ballroom Brawl One-shot
Let's all do the hustle as we boogie on down to some details.
Monsters of Murka: Ballroom Brawl
This adventure focuses primarily on content from Monsters of Murka: Chromatic Gamut, including our alternate combat rules for Ballroom Combat. If you've ever wanted to see a D&D dance-off, complete with spell-slinging and blade-twirling, this adventure will have all that and more.

New Stretch Goal Reveal: Decorative Edges for ALL Physical Books!
It took us a while to hash out the costs for this one, but we can definitively now tell you, if we raise 200k, EVERY book will look special and gorgeous. If you are a person who loves reading books (or hoarding books—hi, it's me, I do that), then even the standard edition books are now going to have you drooling over them.
We're working on finalizing the art for what will go on the page edges themselves. The deluxe books will most likely be a different design from the standard books, so bear with us while we keep exploring it. But I'm so JAZZED about this one because we get to make these books an even more special part of your collection.
I cannot wait to show you guys the final art. Also, we've got some more art previews on the way in a future update, so stick around for those!
Last minute reminder: Soundtrack poll
HEY DON'T FORGET TO VOTE IN THE SOUNDTRACK POLL! Winners announced in Thursday's livestream!
Wait, no, sorry, it's time to vote. That's my bad. That's my bad everyone! It isn't time to duel, I was wrong! It's actually time to vote!
mmm... succulent hot dogs...
My Fellow Murkans, Lend Me Your Votes!
The time has come for you to raise your voices in a cacophonous chorus and make your desires known! Those who vote shall be heeded in our continuing efforts to compose beautiful chords and melodies for your listening pleasure.
All that to say... please scroll down and vote in the music poll!
As a reminder, we hit a stretch goal for a soundtrack. Each piece of music in the soundtrack will be a 10-ish minute loopable track that conveys a certain "feeling" while being packed absolutely full with Murka-sized references, cameos, melodies, and motifs from Murka's musical earworm catalogue. We've chosen the first three themes:
Adventure
Combat
Downtime
And we want your help choosing the next three!
Eating Contest Live Stream (August 7th @ 6:30 PM Eastern)
We're doing another mechanics showcase live stream! Next Thursday, we'll show off our new Alternative Combat mechanics which allow you to run eating contests at your table, perfect for an adventure straight out of Monsters of Murka: Restaurants & Retail. I got to really sink my teeth into eating contest culture in the U.S. while researching for this mechanic, and absolutely love what we wound up with in the end. There are several ways you can do eating contests, and there is a lot of push-your-luckstrategy behind it. It's time to become the Joey Chestnut you were always meant to be.
Behold, Murka's delicious hot dog water potion. Perfect to wash down those thirty seven hot dogs you just ate.
Come hang out and see these mechanics playtested, throw us some questions, and celebrate with us! We'll be there for a few hours, and would love to see any one of you there.
Yours across the plains of Midwesteros,
Jaron R. M. Johnson and the Action Fiction Faction
