Drakonym is a tabletop RPG set in Akeroth, features players bonding with dragons. Narrative choices drive character & dragon development in a world rediscovering its secrets, with tactical combat, storytelling. Playable as a group or as a Solo RPG!
Drakonym is a completely original fantasy RPG that redefines dragon-bonding adventures. Launching in 2025, this innovative system features six distinct Aspects of Magic, dynamic Action Point combat, and a dragon companion system where your draconic partner is a true character with their own emotional journey.
Set in Akeroth, a realm where dragons once ruled as gods before the catastrophic Dragonfall, players combine Classes, Backgrounds, and specialized Paths to craft unique heroes. Then bond with one of eight Dragon Families, from Pyre Dragons to Astral Dragons, each growing alongside your own evolution.
Your dragon isn't just a mount: it's the heart of your adventure in a world fractured by divine conflict, where the balance between light and shadow determines everything.
This is the dragon game you've been waiting for.
This is an RPG that will grow as the universe of Akeroth expands with future games and is designed to let you bring your characters from other titles into the fold without missing a beat.
Dragons in Drakonym are not pets, vehicles, or assets. They are your reflection, living companions whose presence grows through emotional resonance and trust. Every player may begin their journey with a Dragon Egg or Hatchling, but creating your dragon is about defining a bond, not assembling stats.
Choose from eight Dragon Families. From the cosmic Astral Dragons to the furious Pyre Dragons, ach with unique elemental affinities and narrative abilities called Family Traits. Your dragon's Heart is defined by three emotional pillars: what they Love, what they Fear, and what drives their Instinct.
Baby Dragons
As you act in harmony with these pillars, your Bond grows, evolving your dragon from Hatchling to Elder while unlocking new traits and deepening your connection. But betray your dragon's nature, and Discord may strain your relationship, requiring meaningful reconciliation.
Elder Dragons
The Great Vow prevents dragons from harming others through force but a rider may break this vow with heavy burden. Combat with your dragon in tow is entirely possible! Their power lies in insight, movement, comfort, and connection, not violence. Your dragon grows not just in power, but closer to you, becoming an irreplaceable part of your legend.

Drakonym uses an attribute-based system that welcomes both newcomers and experienced roleplayers. At its core, Drakonym emphasizes narrative stakes, emotional resonance, and dramatic outcomes over strict math or optimization.
Each roll tests two of your six core Attributes, reflecting the lens through which your character views and shapes the world. When your character attempts something important, roll dice equal to two attributes and count successes.
But beyond that, nearly every rule in Drakonym is custom-built for the world of Akeroth. From dialogue to dragonbonding, everything is designed to reinforce the game’s central themes: growth through hardship, trust in the unseen, and the legacy of those who came before.
In moments of tension on a failed check you may push your luck. That’s when you roll an additional die: the Shadow Die. This d12 die represents unseen forces, emotional volatility, or the dark consequences of your choices. It can complicate even a successful roll, or elevate a failure into something tragic and transformative.
Damage in Drakonym isn't an abstract number that slowly decreases - it's a meaningful representation of injury and consequence that shapes both combat and narrative. Instead of hit points, characters suffer Wounds that escalate through three distinct tiers: Light, Heavy, and Deadly.
Your armor determines damage thresholds that convert incoming harm into specific wound types. Light Wounds represent cuts and bruises that heal quickly. Heavy Wounds are serious injuries like broken bones that require attention. Deadly Wounds are life-threatening trauma that demands immediate care.
Leave wounds untreated, and they become Scars - permanent marks that affect your character's capabilities and tell the story of their adventures. A Physical scar from a dragon's claw, a Magical scar from arcane backlash, or a Mental scar from witnessing unspeakable horrors - each adds depth to your character while providing mechanical consequences that matter.
Action Points are how combat flows. Players get access to 4 Action Points at start of combat, and they refresh at the end of their turns. If they don't spend them all then don't worry! Half of those remain in your Action Point Pool ready to be used on later turns letting you cast bigger spells or take more reactions.

Your character in Drakonym isn't just a collection of stats: they are the hero of an epic tale waiting to unfold. Character creation begins with meaningful choices about who you are, what drives you, and what path you'll walk, but it's your journey from Level 1 to Level 10 that transforms those choices into legend.
Kin define your heritage and the cultural tapestry you come from. Choose from twelve distinct ancestries, each bringing unique traits, physical characteristics, and ways of seeing the world. Your Kin isn't just flavor; it shapes how you interact with Akeroth and influences the stories you'll tell.
Class represents your core approach to adventure and conflict. Whether you're a Fighter mastering weapons and tactics, a Mage wielding arcane forces, a Acolyte channeling higher powers, or a Veil operating from the shadows, your Class defines your fundamental abilities and role within your party.
Background tells the story of who you were before adventure called. From Artisans and Scholars to Veterans and Charlatans, your Background provides not just mechanical benefits but narrative hooks, social connections, and the experiences that shaped your worldview before you became a legendary figure.
Backgrounds also feature talent trees that expand with every level you gain. You earn Background Points as you progress, allowing you to deepen existing experiences or branch into entirely new Backgrounds. Want to play a Scholar who becomes a seasoned Veteran through their adventures? A Charlatan who discovers genuine Artisan skills? The system encourages this growth, letting you build a truly unique character whose capabilities reflect their evolving story across all ten levels.
A Path is your character's specialization which is earned through story at Level 3. This isn't simply chosen from a menu: you will take one of 20 unique and flavourful Paths through your actions, trials, and the narrative moments that define who you're becoming. Your Path builds upon your Class, creating unique combinations that reflect your character's personal journey toward legend.
Every part of Drakonym's progression has you in the driver's seat. Your character's story is determined by the choices you make and not by class restrictions or archetypes!
