You're a cow. But not just any cow. You're bright, eloquent, and, frankly, wasted in this field. Your goal is to escape, infiltrate society, and ultimately get elected ruler of the country.
Problem is, you're a cow, the farmer is watching you...
Technically, Moo is a chaotic little roleplaying game where you play as a highly intelligent, deeply ambitious cow who can understand and speak fluent English, but absolutely cannot let the humans find out. Why? Because your ultimate goal isn’t to graze peacefully or chew cud with the others. No, your goal is power. Real power. You want to run for office. Win the public vote. Possibly become Prime Minister. Or Queen. Or both.
At the start of the game, you’re just another cow in a field. By the end? You might be giving interviews on live TV with your udders duct-taped down and sunglasses hiding your vacant stare.
It’s a game of disguise, sabotage, manipulation, betrayal, and a surprising amount of emotional nuance for something built around hoof-based espionage.
We're incredibly excited to be working with the brilliant folks at Critical Kit to help bring Moo into the world.
If you're already part of the indie TTRPG scene, you'll probably know them as the award-winning creators behind games like Be Like a Crow, Punk Is Dead and Wires in the Woods, all of which blew up for a reason. Sharp design. Strong writing, and a real understanding of what makes games fun, playable, and worth coming back to.
We are incredibly excited to work with them. Moo isn’t just a one-off pasture-dwelling oddity. It's the start of something bigger. We’re working with Critical Kit to publish and support a whole line of TTRPG projects. From the Catalogues of Chaos from Dungeon Master UK to Driftforge originals to collaborative chaos, all with the same indie heart and no-corporate-bull* approach that makes this space so damn exciting to be in.
So whether you’re here for the cows or just curious what’s next, you’re in excellent company.
Every card you draw matters. We use a standard deck of 52 playing cards, but each one has two distinct effects, one for you (the cow), and one for the GM (who plays the Farmer). Sometimes cards give you a moment of power, a disguise, or an ally. Sometimes they expose you in front of a group of schoolchildren.
Each cow has their own stats, like Moo-nipulation, Graze Anatomy, and Udder Nonsense, which sounds like a joke but isn’t. The stats are real, and they matter when you’re trying to sneak into a town council meeting dressed as a small horse.
You’ll climb through five narrative tiers; escaping the farm, blending in, gaining influence, entering politics, and finally ruling the country. There’s even a win condition called Bovine Ascension. Yes, it’s as ridiculous and dramatic as it sounds.
It works for solo players, one-shots, or longer campaigns. It works for chaotic gremlins and clever storytellers. It also works surprisingly well with a drink in hand and a bit of roleplay theatre.
We're Driftforge, a small UK indie team making games we wish already existed. Moo is our newest one, and this campaign is to fund its first proper print run.
That means:
A beautifully laid-out, professionally edited rulebook
Printable and digital character sheets
All the full rules, card tables, sabotage systems, and GM tools
The complete “from field to parliament” story structure
Expanded modules like rival cow NPCs, conspiracy boards, and the Farmer’s dark past
Bonus flavour text, scenario prompts, and player trackers
And if we do well, we’ll unlock a bunch of extra stretch goals, Think cow-themed campaign stickers, custom MOO game cards, maybe even official MOO dice!
Because the world is teetering on the brink, and what it clearly needs is a game where cows sabotage each other’s political campaigns for control of a nation.
Because we’ve made something genuinely odd, funny, and clever and we’d love to put it in your hands.
Because you probably don’t already own a game where one player roleplays as a paranoid farmer losing control of their own herd.
