Looking for a fast moving and easy to jump into RPG? Into the Lair is your answer. It hearkens back to the gritty and classic feeling of Old School RPGs. Our art style is 80s inspired to spark the imagination without bogging you down with rules.
Into the Lair is a brand new RPG that blends that classic old school feel with a fresh and modern character creation system. Our system allows both young and old players to easily create a character without having to read and understand dozens of pages in a players handbook before even writing your name on a page.
I can't believe I agreed to be part of this heist...
We prefer the gritty and dark feel of the classic black and white art that made the 80s and 90s a glorious time of imagination and life. While color art is gorgeous, sometimes more effort is put into the art to sell the project instead of having a great product. We do not use AI for any of our art.

If we already have a book completed, why are we crowdfunding?
Most people try to use crowdfunding as a way to generate income for them to bring their ideas to life. With that type of project direction, you as a backer might be susceptible to time issues for completion and even possibly not following through. On our side we have already paid all the artists, we have already spent the time playtesting and producing the book. We would like anyone who backs us and puts their faith in us to know they will receive a product. The crowdfunding part is just to make the upfront cost to print and ship. You can also download a 10 page PDF at this link:
We have already been playtesting this for over two years. We have ran convention sessions for hundreds of new players at multiple conventions including Origins Game Fair 2024. At this point, we have had the framework for this idea in place almost 3 years. We have had around 50 players consistently playing this and making sure that things work as intended.
Our internal team of 3 people have had very different roleplaying experiences over the last 40 years. Meshing our ideas together has been challenging and exciting as new ideas arise out of our round table sessions.
All Backers who join in the first 48 Hours will get an 18"x18" Sepia Toned map of our World. This map has been designed and drawn by one of our creators personally. We have not decided on what type of paper, but we are thinking some type of linen would really make the sepia tone stand out. (Image is not final and subject to change)
What's better then having a Magic weapon that gets stronger as you level up your hero! We introduce at this stretch goal, our Legacy Weapons. This Stretch goal adds x12 magic weapons that have various lore and abilities that will grow as your character gains a new Tier. Meeting this first goal adds this reward every tier that includes a boxed set. With our Legacy Weapons you scratch off the new text when your hero reaches that Tier. This may be a new type of power, ability or modification to your weapon. Below is the current artwork for the Legacy Weapons (subject to change): At this level we will include a tear off 8.5x11 Pad of 25 character sheets with every tier that includes a boxed set. Now you can have a pad that you can tear off sheets and hand to people wherever you are. When we power through the first two goals we will reveal this reward! If we make it this far the Rogue's stretch goal adds more spice to the game!
The book has been completely finished, and all art completed and ready. We hope to blow these estimates out of the water, but here is a timeline of the schedule.
March-April 2025 Crowdfunding Backerkit! July-August 2025 BackerKit Pledge Manager! August 2024-December 2025 Printing! January 2026 Product Lands at Fulfillment Center! February-April 2026 Fulfillment!
Shipping will be charged post-crowdfunding via BackerKit. This is collected after the campaign and will be found in the Pledge Manager. Digital fulfillment will also be handled via BackerKit.
Physical fulfillment so far will be handled by Epoch Saga Games, LLC.
We don’t know how much shipping the physical goods will cost, because shipping is expensive now. We are not situated in a warehouse and we do not own our own shipping company, so we are only able to use the systems already in place. We will wait as long as reasonable to charge you for shipping and taxes to make sure we get an accurate price. We only collect taxes when we are required to by law.
Estimated shipping costs are as follows. We are using weight-based shipping, and you will be charged shipping via BackerKit for the total weight of your pledge.
United States: $15-20 Canada: $18-25 United Kingdom: $20-25 EU: $27-40 US Territories and ROW: $30-50
Note that these are shipping estimates, based on projected product weights. These estimates are subject to change. We will offer tracked shipping options in BackerKit to the best of our abilities. The current weight estimate for the Boxed Set option is for a 5 pound (2.25 kilogram) package.
Unfortunately we cannot ship to the following countries at the current time: Afghanistan, Belarus, Brunei Darussalam, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Myanmar, Niue, Russian Federation, Syrian Arab Republic, Yemen.
The only risk we can foresee is the production of the book. We have already designed, commissioned and paid for all the art that you see in our book. We looked at all the possibilities and decided what better way to show you how serious we were about this project, then to have it 99% ready to go when we launch.
It bears repeating that we have completed and paid for all the art for our book. We do not need you, the backers, to wait longer on redesign, new layouts or waiting for Art after this campaign is over.
We have playtested this for over 2 years. We have taken this to multiple conventions and had great feedback and enjoyment from all of our playtesters. We displayed at Origins 2024 and had hundreds of people join us, which just solidified we were on the right track.
We are not crowdfunding on just a great idea. We had the idea, we brought it to life and built it. We just need your support to help us get it in print and make it a success.
Dean Nabors (Writing, Editing, Idea Man) The man behind the idea. Our campaign was a mashup of rules we called "DEAN & D" so it wasn't 5E or AD&D. Many of our game mechanics spawned out over these campaigns.
Sam Wilkinson (Writing, Editing, Rule Breaking) The one who we love to hate. If there is anything that can be broken or made to be broken he will figure it out. This guy helps us keep our rules legit and smooth.
Nathan Rule (Writing, Design, Layout, Art, Everything Else) The man who made the idea come alive. One conversation sparked the creative train and it has not returned to the station yet. Keeping it all moving is his contribution to this unique game.
