Project FAQ
This project was relaunched and cut back in funding goal to meet more realistic expectations. I will wholly admit fault in this, being a little too overambitious with the original scope of the project. Additionally, I realized that the price point for the PDF was put too high. So now, I've cut down on the price point of the PDF version to 20€, and re-evaluated the funding goal of the game. This new version also has the Metric and Imperial versions of the game supported from the beginning. Buyers of the physical editions will have to choose which they want after the campaign is over. The Digital version of the game will come with both.
No. WARDEN is to Pathfinder 2e what Pathfinder 2e is to D&D 3.5e. Similar in many, many aspects, but a completely separate game that is easier to learn.
WARDEN is both very similar and very different game to Pathfinder 2e. On one hand, your turn structures, and the things you concretely do in the game are very similar. You are Striking opponents, Grappling, Tripping, Raising Shields, doing all this with a tweak of the familiar 3-action structure. When leveling up characters, you are picking up Feats that enhance your abilities every level. You are adding your level to the proficiency bonus, that goes +2/+4/+6 (Trained, Expert, Master). Very familiar stuff. However, the whole experience has been noticeably revamped. Disarm actually disarms the opponent on a success, feats are chosen freely and without a class, attributes don't exist in the same form as anymore. Spells / special abilities don't require slots, but instead use a general resource, which is also used by combat-focused characters. If you're familiar with Pathfinder 2e, the game is easy to understand if you meet it where the game is at, trying to push the envelope using Pathfinder 2e as a springboard and base to build on. If you think Pathfinder 2e is a good but flawed game, you will find that your issues with it have probably been addressed in one way or another. If you think Pathfinder 2e is the perfect game, I recommend giving WARDEN a look, and seeing if it clicks.
The core rulebooks will be released in black and white inside, 8.5x11" (US Letter). The core release will be printed through IngramSpark, and the future Print-on-Demand will be handled through DrivethruRPG (i.e their partner Lightning Press). The final pagecount will be around 200 to 300 pages, by my estimates, though this may fluctuate depending on the amount of art I will procure for the game.
I prefer it.
BackerKit FAQ
BackerKit Crowdfunding is an all-or-nothing collaborative funding platform. Creators share their project ideas and set a funding goal with a deadline. Backers pledge money to help make the project possible.
If the project meets its goal by the deadline, pledges are charged and the creator moves forward. If it doesn’t, no one is charged.
Backers often receive special rewards for their support, such as:
- Exclusive products
- Bonus rewards for backing related projects
- Discount pricing
- Behind-the-scenes updates
- Creative input opportunities
Pledging in crowdfunding is a commitment to support the creation of a new product or project. Unlike a traditional purchase, you're not buying an item that already exists. Instead, your contribution helps bring a creative idea to life, and in return, you typically receive rewards (such as the product itself) as a thank you for your early support.
- Select a pledge level with the reward(s) you would like to receive
- Select any add-ons
- Confirm your pledge!
- You are charged only if the campaign meets its funding goal.
- Charges happen when the campaign ends, not when you pledge.
The creator will send you a survey to:
- Ask you for more information about your rewards (selecting options, etc)
- Collect shipping information
- Offer additional items you may want to add to your pledge
- Collect shipping fees (if applicable)
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge. Additional payments are charged when you complete the survey.
Only the project creator and the BackerKit Support Team can see your pledge and contact information. Other backers and the public cannot see your individual pledge amount or personal details.
You can change or adjust your pledge level and add-ons before the campaign ends. After the project concludes, cancellations or changes are at the creator's discretion and may depend on what stage the project is in.
Overtime Mode extends your campaign past its original end time to give backers a final chance to make their pledge. It will add an additional 10 minutes past the end time as long as pledges keep coming in. The campaign will end when there is a 10-minute period without any new pledges.
