BackerKit FAQ

How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.

To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.

All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.

Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.

Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.

When will I be charged for my pledge?

Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.

What happens after the campaign is over?

The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.

The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.

Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.

Project FAQ

Are there crowdfunding exclusives?

Yes! The three Fifth Edition Fantasy conversions will feature crowdfunding-specific foil covers. (This is for Idylls of the Rat King, The Lost Vault of Tsathzar Rho, and Sailors on the Starless Sea.) In addition, the miniatures will not be offered through retail, nor will the "Giants Hit Harder" tee. Finally, the clamshell special edition box is specific to this crowdfunding.

What is the deluxe clamshell box option?

As a limited-edition crowdfunding item, we are printing some boxes in a deluxe clamshell format with foil highlighting. This type of specialty box opens on a "hinge" and can be used to display the enclosed booklets on a shelf or tabletop. The clamshell box is more expensive to manufacture than the regular edition and thus requires an additional charge, which you can find in the add-ons section.

Are add-ons offered at a special price?

Yes! All add-ons for this project are offered at a 10% savings from MSRP. If you purchase some of the pre-bundled pledge levels you can save even more, up to 25% off!

Is the two dollar adventure really ONLY TWO BUCKS?

Yes! The Red Dragon's Treasure Map is a fully designed 5E adventure for 1st level characters, easy to drop into an existing campaign. The adventure is complete with 10 detailed encounter areas, two maps, an illustrated player handout, plus fully-designed new monsters and magic items. It also includes pre-generated player characters to get the action to the game table quicker. It's printed with a full color cover and illustrations. It's an amazing deal!

When is shipping charged?

Shipping will be charged during the pledge manager phase, after the fundraising campaign is completed.

How will international fulfillment be handled?

In general we will have international-friendly shipping. EU/UK shipments will originate from a UK-based shipping point. AUS/NZ/SEA shipments will originate from an AUS-based shipping point. CAN shipments will originate from a CAN-based shipping point.

Why is this project available as 5E only and not DCC?

The DCC team was busy with XCrawl Classics and Purple Planet while the 5E team was developing this Terror From The UnderDeep boxed set. For future projects, the “lanes converge” and we anticipate our other 2025 crowdfunding titles like Castle Whiterock and Dungeon Denizens II to be available in both 5E and DCC.

Where are the stretch goals?

For stretch goals on the BackerKit platform, click the "Community" tab at top of the project, then look at the "Achievements" section.

What adventures are in Compendium of Dungeon Crawls Vol. 5?

This volume focuses on low-level adventures that can be played in a session or two. There are 10 adventures for levels 1-2, and five adventures for levels 3-4, for a total of 15 adventures. What adventures are in Compendium of Dungeon Crawls Vol. 6?

This volume focuses on low-level adventures that can be played in a session or two. Similar to volume 5, there are 15 total adventures: 10 for character levels 1-2, and five for levels 3-4. These include many famous Goodman Games adventures, such as Well of the Worm by Harley Stroh, When Kobolds Fly by Brendan LaSalle, Fate of the Vigilant, Hive of Villainy, Mage Maze, The Crawling Tower, and many others.

What adventures are in the 2-Page UnderDelves?

The 2-Page UnderDelves book will follow the popular format established with our Dungeon Delves book, where each adventure is a 2-page spread including map. We are planning for 20 adventures, and we're saving room for backers to submit their own adventures! These six adventures are already completed, all from levels 12-14: The Burning Caverns, The Deep Ruse, The Fallen Tower, The Grass is Greener, The Unmaking Arch, and When Hell Freezes Over. For the remaining slots, we will consider backer-submitted adventures.

Can I purchase STLs of the miniatures?

This is our first foray into miniatures in recent years, and we are "starting small" so to speak (although the miniatures are huge!). This first batch is available in physical format only. At a later date after the crowdfunding project, we may also add STLs, depending on customer feedback.

Are you offering VTT items?

The art and maps for this project are being created in a VTT-friendly style. We are not offering VTT editions during the campaign, but we plan to offer VTT editions at a later date after the campaign.

What sizes are available for the T-shirts?

We are able to provide Small through 4XL, with Tall options in 2XL and 3XL.

What does the abbreviation FEF stand for?

"FEF" stands for Fifth Edition Fantasy, our line of 5E adventures. Goodman Games released the very first salable independent 5E adventure, at the same Gen Con where DnD 5E first premiered. That line of adventures, called Fifth Edition Fantasy or FEF, has established us as the premiere publisher of independent 5E adventures.

Are the miniatures supplied unpainted and unassembled?

Yes! The giant miniatures are supplied unpainted and unassembled.

Are the 2-page delve stretch goals the same as the 2-Page Underdelves book?

No! The 2-page Underdelves book has a set of encounters that is completely different from the delves which are cleared via stretch goals or early backer rewards. The delves cleared via stretch goals will be collected in a separate publication that compiles all the stretch goals.
