Kobold Press is offering a brand-new, highly playable system for the RiverBank RPG. The game is optimized for 3 to 5 players, using standard dice to resolve player decisions while balancing the characters' Animality and Poetry sides. Fall too far into one side or the other, and total disaster may follow!

The River Bank novel by Kij Johnson is a delight, available now from better booksellers and also available here as an optional way to explore the world of the River Bank. 205 pages, illustrated by Kathleen Jennings. Ships with the game when purchased as an add-on.

While the RiverBank RPG is complete in one volume, there's certainly room to cram a few bonus items into every backer's hardcover or PDF! And the first two items are now unlocked.
If the project hits a goal, the rewards expand for everyone. The form-fillable character sheet, the designer chat, and a playable scenario are already unlocked. The second set of goals at $125k and beyond includes a solo adventure and an in-depth discussion of the various types of Animals that can be player characters.
If you pledge for dice, tea, cards, and hardcover books, your rewards will ship to you via the US Mail, Canada Post, and similar services. In addition, Kobold Press uses bulk shipping, media mail, and other tricks to keep costs affordable for everyone—we rely on shipping partners in the UK, Australia, and EU to help us get your rewards to you without paying airfare and courier rates.
Postage & Handling
This project's expected shipping costs are roughly $8 to $12 in the US for all shipments using media mail, $25 to $30 for Canada, $10 to $30 for UK and EU destinations, and $30 to $45 for Australia and NZ.
Note that everything ships together in one box (to avoid charging you shipping twice). This includes all physical add-ons, such as teas, novels, and dice.
For those outside the US, Canada, EU, Australia, New Zealand or UK, it's a bit trickier, but runs roughly $45 to $90 worldwide, depending on location. All shipping, VAT, tariffs, customs, and handling are charged separately from the pledge amount, during the survey stage.
Fulfillment Timeline
The game is written and with the editor; it will go to press in the late summer, and we expect to ship all rewards before the end of the year.
