Project FAQ
Maybe someday! If it isn't in the goals it is beyond the intended scope of this project, but you are welcome to make suggestions. I am always looking to make plush bags that make people happy! Just keep in mind if it is too niche or it has already been done I am unlikely to do it.
Backerkit's built in pay over time is a huge risk for projects this expensive. When most people think of pay over time they are picturing a service that pays all the money to the seller up front for them with actual consequences for not paying it back. Backerkit's pay over time is nothing like that. Money is not given to the creator to make sure they have everything needed to get things moving, and there is nothing stopping backers from simply never completing their payments. This can lead to huge delays in fulfillment, failure to receive enough to pay for what is promised, etc. Since Carrion Baggage: Second Bite has a high goal it would be unwise to use it.
Yes! This campaign will be shipping to the EU unlike the previous Carrion Baggage. There was a change in safety laws at the end of 2024 that took us awhile to get all the documentation ready for, but this year we plan to bring all our shipping to the EU back.
Ideally by hand, with cold water, and using a mild, bleach-free detergent! Most of these bags are sewn around a porous, foam-like material. Try to submerge as little as possible and only scrub the area that needs it (spot cleaning.) My favorite surface cleaner for plush materials is diluted folex. Let them dry in a place with actively moving air and ideally low humidity. I use floor fans for this purpose, and have them set up in a room with a dehumidifier running. The goal is to prevent moisture from being trapped deep in the foam which could lead to all sorts of problems.
Many bags are still in prototyping! This includes Tinned Chow, Sable Chow, the Jurassic bags, and the sardine pencil bag. I select from multiple manufacturers for each bag to get an item as close to the concept art as possible. With that said, there is no way to guarantee a bag will not need some changes to be viable for manufacturing. Unprototyped items also will have an impossible to judge timeline. Refunds will not be given based on wait times or differences from concept art (within reason- if a design must be entirely abandoned it will be refunded.) Please only sign on for one of these items if you're willing to see the whole process through! Your order will not be locked until all the items in your cart are fully prototyped, so if you don't like the end product you'll have a chance to pick a different design!
I plan to put EVERYTHING made on the Backerkit in to making plush and plush bags. That means increasing the order size for unlocked designs, developing future campaign bags, and keeping Lairbrew operating. Plush production more expensive than ever and we're dedicated to doing it right, so it will definitely all be put to good use!
These bags are BIG, and combine that with my preference for minimal fabric printing and the heavy use of techniques that require additional labor and it adds up to an expensive plush. We're also dedicated to doing things legally and ethically, which means higher unit costs, fewer price breaks, and expensive safety testing for multiple countries. To top it off, we have to try and predict what shipping costs will look like at least a year in the future. It all adds up fast!
Pledges can be cancelled any time for the duration of the campaign! A pledge is final as soon as the campaign ends, however. Order cancellations are not accepted, and I won't issue refunds for things outside of my control (ex: your financial situation changing before fulfillment starts, impatience with provided fulfillment timeline within reason, etc.) The money you give me is going to be spent to make this project happen, not held on to, which is what crowdfunding is for! If there is a problem that I am at fault for, such as goods arriving damaged due to poor packaging or the wrong items being sent, I will replace the item at my expense. I will only ever insist on refunding you over replacement if I would be losing a serious amount of money on paying the shipping or there is no inventory to do a replacement with. I want people to get their items and be happy with what they receive! I do often replace missing mail if I'm able to despite that being outside my control, but please know that is a courtesy that I might be unable to offer. It isn't my fault if a package goes missing once it has left my care. If you're concerned about this and want some sort of guarantee I suggest spending extra on shipping with insurance. Returns are accepted at backer expense for 1 to 1 exchanges. I'm willing to make a 1:1 swap with you if you're willing to pay the shipping and there hasn't been a loss of value to the bag you're sending back (ex: stains, removed tags, signs of use.) Returns MUST be requested within 24 hours of reception!
If you have only paid part of your order by the time fulfillment comes around, 1 of a few things will happen. If you have paid for your items but not your shipping and it has sat unfixed until the end of fulfillment, your pledge fulfillment will be canceled and your processed payments will be treated as generous donations. If you've paid for everything but add-ons, the unpaid add-ons will be removed from your order and the paid for items will be shipped. If you have not paid for your pledge but have ordered add-ons and have paid shipping it will be treated the same as unpaid shipping. I do give a very long grace period- all the way up until the very end of the project's shipping window.
BackerKit FAQ
BackerKit Crowdfunding is an all-or-nothing collaborative funding platform. Creators share their project ideas and set a funding goal with a deadline. Backers pledge money to help make the project possible.
If the project meets its goal by the deadline, pledges are charged and the creator moves forward. If it doesn’t, no one is charged.
Backers often receive special rewards for their support, such as:
- Exclusive products
- Bonus rewards for backing related projects
- Discount pricing
- Behind-the-scenes updates
- Creative input opportunities
Pledging in crowdfunding is a commitment to support the creation of a new product or project. Unlike a traditional purchase, you're not buying an item that already exists. Instead, your contribution helps bring a creative idea to life, and in return, you typically receive rewards (such as the product itself) as a thank you for your early support.
- Select a pledge level with the reward(s) you would like to receive
- Select any add-ons
- Confirm your pledge!
- You are charged only if the campaign meets its funding goal.
- Charges happen when the campaign ends, not when you pledge.
The creator will send you a survey to:
- Ask you for more information about your rewards (selecting options, etc)
- Collect shipping information
- Offer additional items you may want to add to your pledge
- Collect shipping fees (if applicable)
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge. Additional payments are charged when you complete the survey.
Only the project creator and the BackerKit Support Team can see your pledge and contact information. Other backers and the public cannot see your individual pledge amount or personal details.
You can change or adjust your pledge level and add-ons before the campaign ends. After the project concludes, cancellations or changes are at the creator's discretion and may depend on what stage the project is in.
Overtime Mode extends your campaign past its original end time to give backers a final chance to make their pledge. It will add an additional 10 minutes past the end time as long as pledges keep coming in. The campaign will end when there is a 10-minute period without any new pledges.
