Project Update: Recipes for Old Gods of Appalachia Game Nights!

Hey there family!

We hope you’re keepin’ warm this winter. We have some news and recipes to share while we wait for Spring to grace us with her presence.

Come Hell or High Water

Come Hell or High Water is now in layout! Once this is complete, the last book in the trilogy of supplements will go to the final stages of proofing and review, and then can be sent to the printers. We are on schedule for our anticipated delivery.

Here’s one of the early pieces of art from the book that’ll give you a peek into what kind of adventures you’ll find inside!

Dice, Props, and Recipe Set

There is a lot of uncertainty around manufacturing due to the changing global tariff situation at present. We want to reassure everyone that we will deliver what was promised, and you will get your rewards. We’re looking at alternative options for everything and will keep you updated, even if it’s to say we’ve not quite found a solution that works just yet. But we’re tenacious and we keep our promises family, so we will find a way. This affects the following items:

  • Prop set
  • Dice Set and Tin
  • Stamp Set
  • Jack’s Fate Pendant
  • Witch Jar
  • Recipe Set

Recipes for an Old Gods of Appalachia Game Night!

The recipe set provides more than two dozen favorite Appalachian recipes, many handed down through the generations, and each with their own description of why they’re so beloved.

Recipes include:

  • Linda’s apple-sausage stuffing, a favorite offered up by Cam Collins, courtesy of her mother-in law’s excellent cooking
  • Pone (biscuit) bread, one of Tammie Webb Ryan’s favorite recipes from her mom.
  • Perry’s biscuits, a recipe given to us by poet (and Dig Your Own Grave contributor) Jeff Mann that was his father’s special Sunday morning meal
  • Granny’s Coca Cola Cocktail, a specialty from the granny of Aliya Johnson, voices of Mercy Boggs-Carter and others on the Old Gods of Appalachia podcast
  • Chocolate Chess Pie, dished up by author (and Dig Your Own Grave contributor) Lee Mandela

Steve Shell’s Old-fashioned Corn Bread Recipe from His Mamaw

“Cornbread recipes are family treasures and everyone's family does it differently. My mamaw's was the best and if you disagree you are wrong. This is white cornbread flipped out of a cast iron skillet. If you don't understand how that makes this superior, I can't help you.” —Steve Shell, OGoA co-creator and narrator

Ingredients:
  • 1 ½ cups of self rising corn meal
  • 1 cup of self rising flour
  • 1 tsp of sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1-2 cups of buttermilk

Directions:
  1. Mix ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
  2. In an iron skillet, heat bacon grease, oil, or butter to cover the bottom.
  3. Preheat your oven to 400℉.
  4. Pour in mixture and bake for about 40 minutes.
  5. Turn the skillet upside down onto the plate.

The books I received had moisture damage. It was minor, but I buy physical editions for their high production value, so I was a bit disappointed. I really wish these had come shrink-wrapped, like the first book did. Is there any way I could receive non-damaged copies?

I pledged at the "Into the Whispering Deep" level. So far I've received Dig Your Own Grave and All Your Gods are Dead. I know Come Hell or High Water is still being produced. But I'm wondering about the following items: ×1 OGoA Standard Dice Set with Tin ×1 OGoA Prop Set in print ×1 OGoA Prop Set in PDF ×1 OGoA Resource Deck 2 in print ×1 OGoA Resource Deck 2 in PDF I haven't seen coupons for any of these in my account so I was wondering when they would be available or if I've missed the coupons for them? Thank you so much for all the work you're doing on this amazing project.

Project Update: Wrapping up editing on Come Hell or High Water!

Hey there, family!

Apologies for the delay in updates — we’ve been wrangling a few things behind the scenes and will make sure we have more regular updates moving forward.

Come Hell or High Water

Come Hell or High Water is now in the last stages of editing — the final book in the trilogy of supplements is almost finished!

This book is packed full of cool things. There’s a whole section written by Old Gods of Appalachia creators Cam Collins and Steve Shell that outlines some of the coolest places in the podcast, including the Walker House, the Clutch, and the Devil’s Divide. There are maps, characters, adventure ideas, and lots of details about the locations themselves. In addition, there are plug-and-play locations that you can use anywhere in any game. PCs can visit a factory and the factory town, a haunted hotel and lake, and an eerie farm full of spooky creatures and characters. There are also three complete adventures that will have characters dealing with a generational curse in a small town, digging deep into the secrets of a traveling marvelment show, and transporting a very special load of moonshine with a secret.

Lastly, a section on designing your own OGoA adventures offers tons of tips and techniques for creating the scariest alternate Appalachia adventure possible.

Come Hell or High Water will soon be laid out, and then go through final proofing and approvals before it is sent to the printers. As we move into the layout stage, art for the book has come in, so here’s a peek at some of it!
