BackerKit FAQ

How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.

To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.

All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.

Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.

Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.

When will I be charged for my pledge?

Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.

What happens after the campaign is over?

The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.

The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.

Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.

Project FAQ

What pledge level should I get?

My best recommendation is "The Core Game" - this gives you everything you need to pull out the game and play in a beautiful little box

What comes in the box?

The core game comes with 80 tarot-size cards that have everything you need to play the game. The rules, setup, prompts—all on cards. The breakdown is: - 16 rules cards - 52 prompt cards - 10 "Door" cards - 2 safety cards

When will I get my rewards?

If you back during the campaign, you should be receiving physical rewards by Fall 2025 at the latest. The game is nearly text complete and we are planning to start shipping out packages over the Summer.

Why play on opposite sides of a closed door?

This is the best way to immerse yourself into a game of The Time We Have. The closed door is one of those things that is both in the story of your game and in the real world. Alternatives include: - online play with your cameras turned off - push two chairs together back-to-back - a barrier between you that blocks your view of each other as you sit on opposite sides of a table

I don't have any brothers—is this game still for me?

Absolutely! This game is for anyone who loves: -zombie media -tragic stories -complex relationships -tight-focused roleplaying experiences -a good cry

Do we have to play as brothers?

You don't have to—that's the short answer. The long (and ~artistic~) answer: Playing as brothers is central to the experience of this game. Every prompt, rule, and art decision was made with that relationship in mind. To play as characters with a different relationship would be to remove some of the weight that this game intends to help you bring to play. Brotherhood brings with it a unique complexity and vulnerability that I would highly recommend you allow yourself to explore. Ultimately, roleplaying games are what you make them and while the questions/rules in this game are written with this particular relationship in mind, with some creative tweaking/improvisation, you could push the game to embody other relationships. If you do, I would love to hear about the story you tell!
