This is a fulfillment update from RV Games. With Death Pays All Debts away at the printers, we are now ready to start sending out surveys. We will be sending out our smoke test today, and we will send out the rest of the surveys on Monday morning.
Death Pays All Debts Hard Copy Proofs
We have some nitty gritty fulfillment details to give here now. International taxes and fulfillment are complex and have a lot of moving pieces for implementation within BackerKit.
Late Pledges
Late Pledges will stay open all the way until we complete fulfillment and close the pledge manager.
Auto-Lock and Charge
Once you complete your survey, your order will be locked, and you will be immediately charged. We send out surveys closer to fulfillment, so we do not need to perform these as separate steps. However, you will get a shipping address confirmation email before we start shipping out orders.
Pledge Level Shipping, Administration Fee, and Taxes
Our international fee and taxes will be included in pledge levels as follows. This does not include information for add-ons.
California: Folks ordering from California will be charged California sales tax. This is listed as a tax in BackerKit. You are not taxed on your shipping costs.
CA: Canadian backers will be charged GST/HST/PST. This is listed as a tax in BackerKit. You are not taxed on your shipping costs.
UK: UK backers will not be charged a tax or fee since printed material is zero rated for VAT.
EU: EU backers are charged the 25% international fee that covers VAT, duties, and administration, which is listed as a tax in BackerKit. This only applies to physical items. This fee is also charged for your shipping cost since we need to charge VAT for shipping within the EU.
EU: For digital items being sent to the EU, since we are IOSS and OSS registered as an international company, we do also need to collect our fee for VAT and administration for EU backers. Our international fee is built into the "shipping cost" that will be charged for digital backers when they complete their survey, so they will not be included in the tax amount listed on BackerKit. Many people do not collect this tax, but it is something that we do need to collect for EU compliance.
Rest of World: All other backers of physical tiers (including Australia) have the 25% international fee included in the shipping price rather than being listed as a separate tax in BackerKit. There is no fee for the digital pledge level.
Shipping, Administration Fee, and Taxes for Add-Ons
Shipping, fees, and taxes are handled as follows:
Global: Most add-ons ship for free after paying your base pledge level shipping (prices have not changed since the rates listed in the initial campaign), but larger add-ons have a shipping fee added due to the guaranteed extra weight. Outside of the EU, there are no taxes for digital items.
UK: Add-ons from the UK that include dice have their VAT rate included in the shipping cost since they are not zero rated for VAT like print materials.
EU: Physical add-ons from the EU are charged our international fee as a tax within BackerKit. For digital add-ons from the EU, a "shipping" cost is added to cover the digital goods VAT and administration fee.
Rest of World: Countries from outside US/CA/UK/EU have their international fee included in the shipping costs for physical add-ons.
Fulfillment
Once Death Pays All Debts arrives at the ShipBob warehouse, we will start kitting all of the products, and by the time things are kitted and folks have had to time to take their surveys, we will be pushing out orders daily.
International/EU: Everything will be shipped out Delivery Duty Paid, and orders to the EU will go through the streamlined IOSS process. Other than a couple exceptions, everyone will receive their orders without having to pay any customs upon arrival.
US/Central and South America/Asia/Rest of World: We will immediately ship out orders to the US, Central and South America, Asia, and the rest of the world not listed below.
UK/EU/Africa/The Rest of Europe: We will ship orders to the UK for distribution to UK/EU/Africa/The Rest of Europe, so these will most likely get shipped out after the orders are shipped to backers in the US.
CA: We will ship orders to Canada for Canadian distribution. These orders will also most likely get shipped out after US orders.
Digital Distribution
We will be sending out digital files via Shopify when we push out orders for fulfillment. You will receive a direct download of the files, and you will receive codes for adding Death Pays All Debts to add it to your DrivethruRPG or Itch.io library.
We do need to collect your shipping address since Shopify at minimum needs a name entered into your order for digital fulfillment. You don't have to provide a real address if you don't want to, we just need something in the shipping name field.
Once Octopus Ink Games have finished putting together the final zip file, we will be posting this to BackerKit for you, so you will have access to the final digital version of Death Pays All Debts after you answer your survey and while you wait for fulfillment to complete.

If you have any issues with your survey, our first line of support is handled by BackerKit, so you should email [email protected]. If it's an issue they can't handle, they'll then forward it onto Curious Friend, who handles support for RV Games.
