BackerKit FAQ
How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.
To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.
All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.
Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.
Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.
When will I be charged for my pledge?
Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.
What happens after the campaign is over?
The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.
Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.
Project FAQ
Why Should I Play SHIVER?
Shiver is the universal horror roleplaying game. Anything from Scooby Doo, to Scream. Hellraiser or Aliens. Jaws smashed with Indiana Jones. Wherever your tastes lie, or your comfort zone is, you can do it with our easy to learn and quick to play core ruleset. With a dice system that allows for roleplay opportunities and keeps the game moving, and mechanics like our Doom Clock that work to keep tension rolling on high, SHIVER is designed to be easy to run and play.
Do I need the SHIVER Core Book to play SHIVER: Corporate?
Yes. You'll need the SHIVER Core Book to play SHIVER Corporate, this rulebook is available in the campaign - including in the "New Starter" and "SHIVER All In" pledges, as well as available as an Add On. Alternatively the condensed rulebook featured in the SHIVER Starter Sets includes enough rules to run SHIVER: Corporate until mid-level characters come into play.
Is Corporate a Good Place to Start with the SHIVER System?
It's a great place to start. With an easily adaptable blend of horror, comedy, and science fiction, you can easily tailor your time with SHIVER: Corporate to suit your game table / online lobby.
Is SHIVER: Corporate Compatible With Other SHIVER Releases?
Yes! SHIVER: Corporate can be combined with rules from all our Shiver expansions (as well as the core book, obviously). We want to give you as much flexibility to tell your stories of intrigue as possible! Bring your Gothic monsters to Cornwell, I'm sure we can find a good job for them. Or have your L.A.N.C.E. Agents go undercover at a Cornwell facility - they might even make employee of the month!
What Tools Do I Need To Play SHIVER?
The Core Rulebook, and some dice (D6s and D8s). SHIVER uses a custom symbol based dice system that keeps games flowing fast and tension raised high: The Archetype System. You can run it with regular dice, but we recommend our Archetype Dice sets, the free online dice roller we offer, or uploading the dice images into Roll 20 or other online systems. How Many Players Do I Need to Play?
You can run SHIVER with one Gamemaster and one Player, if you adapt the difficulty of adventures. This is easily done, thanks to the Archetype dice system SHIVER uses. We've ran tables of one-on-one play, all the way up to eleven players at one table! It's an adaptable system, suited for whatever your playgroup needs.
When Is the Payment for a Pledge Due?
At the end of the campaign. Shipping will be charged at a later date through the Pledge Manager, closer to the fulfilment date.
Can I Pay Over Time? How Does That Work?
If the total of your pledge is over $150, then you will see the option to select Pay Over Time during checkout. When the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal, Pay Over Time backers will be charged a quarter of their balance monthly, for four months. You can choose to pay off your remaining balance early in the app. It's important to note that you cannot be imported into Pledge Manager or receive your pledge management survey until your balance is fully paid.
What Is Your Refund Policy?
During the campaign, pledges may be cancelled at any time by removing your pledge. Upon completion of the funding period, all pledges are final. You can get a full refund without any conditions by contacting [email protected] within 14 days of the end of the funding period. If you do not submit all information to the pledge manager within 6 weeks from the first notification to do so, you agree that we have fulfilled our obligations to you in full for any payments made. Parable Games may, at our discretion, refund or ship your pledge even if this information is not submitted by this deadline. All refunds are made in GBP (British Pounds).
What Format is the "Termination Notice" Novel's E-Book / Digital Version?
We're working to release a standard Epub version for most e-readers, and a kindle version (and guide on how to upload it to your Kindle).
Is the Game Playable Online / Does it Have VTT Support?
You can play SHIVER online - in fact that's how we originally tested it. Our dice are available to roll through Roll20 and other online systems (with a little tinkering), and while we do not have official VTT support there is a community led Foundry module available.
