So, we paid to twiddle our thumbs I guess? Do something, I'd even take a oops we dun goof'd but ya we're still working on it update. I've gone from eager to mildly annoyed... Don't want to speak for the majority but I'm sure others would agree.
It's been a month since we were told to expect surveys in a week. Given the last-minute pivots, my assumption at this point is that the manufacturing process is likely held up by tariffs in some way. A lot of folks backing this are people who have backed prior campaigns Pillowcube had - the lack of communication and transparency is dismaying and disappointing for those of us who came back because we trusted you/your product.
If there are circumstances here beyond your control, wouldn't still behoove you to be honest about them with us?

The Final Form
After carefully reviewing timelines, materials, and manufacturing feasibility, we’ve made a deliberate choice: Every backer will now receive the newest version of Combo Cube—Combo Cubed (3.0)—featuring modular layers for full adjustability.
Modular Stackable system
What does that mean?
Rather than one fixed foam block, your Combo Cubed will come with a base and a topper, allowing you to mix, match, and fine-tune your pillow’s height and firmness. You’ll be able to select from 4”, 5”, or 6” builds depending on what’s most comfortable for you—something we’ve never offered before. In the future, we'll offer different toppers, different risers with different firmnesses, features... it's going to be awesome.
Stacked version
This is a major leap forward. For the first time, you can customize your Cube not only by your sleep position (side, back, stomach), but also by height and density.
We’re calling it the Goldilocks Effect: Not too firm. Not too soft. Just right.

A Shift in Materials (And Why It Matters)
We’ve also made the decision to switch from molded foam to cut foam—and here’s why:
Consistency: Cut foam is poured into large blocks here in the USA, then precision-sliced. That means more predictable firmness, better quality control, and fewer surprises.
Comfort: Molded foam (especially from overseas) varies wildly depending on factors like temperature, humidity, and seasonal changes during production. We’ve had issues in the past with pillows feeling ridiculously firm and then the same product arriving just a few months later and having it be too soft. Same product. Same factories. Same production process yet different seasons. Totally different outcome.
Domestic Quality: By shifting to domestic foam cutting, we’re improving reliability, supporting local manufacturing, and reducing friction in our supply chain... especially with what's going on with Tariffs right now.
So while it might not look quite as polished when naked, cut foam is actually more expensive to produce and offers a better, more reliable feel over time.
The Cooling Component
Now, let’s talk covers.
Originally, we planned to include a quilted cooling shell, but after hitting production roadblocks and supply delays, we made the call to pivot.
That shell was a custom piece developed overseas, and with the shift to Combo Cubed’s new modular design, it no longer fits the model—literally or logistically.
Rather than delay shipping for another 3–4 months just to produce a shell that only works with the old version, we’re upgrading in a smarter way:
You’ll be receiving a free cooling pillowcase instead.
✅ Yes, it’s made with real cooling material.
✅ Yes, it feels amazing.
✅ And yes, it goes directly against your skin—exactly where you want the cooling effect to be.
This cooling case gives you more flexibility, works with all pillow configurations, and helps us get your Combo Cubed to you sooner without compromising the quality of your experience.
So… When Will I Get My Combo Cube?
We’re targeting 4 to 6 weeks from today to begin fulfillment. Here’s what’s happening right now:
We're finalizing timelines with our USA-based sewing partners for the updated shell and case
We’re confirming final financing and coordinating production across components
And we’ve baked in a small buffer to make sure we’re not overpromising
Barring unforeseen hiccups, Combo Cubeds will begin shipping within that 4–6 week window.
What’s Next?
Next week, we’ll send out a survey to collect final details—and provide add-on options to make it your preferred height (4", 5", 6"... heck you could do an 11" like Lebron James). This will help us ensure you're getting exactly what fits you best.

Why These Changes Are Good News

Manufacturing Update
We heard back from our factory, and they expect to have lead times finalized by early next week.
The good news?
They’re confident that we’ll start receiving some pillow covers by the end of the month, which means we can begin packaging and shipping orders as soon as they arrive.
What’s Next?
Since the majority of backers are okay with waiting, we’ll hold off on shipping until the pillow covers are ready.
Over the next two weeks, we’ll be finalizing the BackerKit survey and ensuring everything is set up to send those off to you guys for a smooth fulfillment process.
By next week, we aim to send out those surveys to collect shipping addresses and other information, so keep an eye on your inbox.
Once those are completed, we’ll be all set to move forward with shipping as soon as production wraps up.
