Set on a near-future Earth, this project offers a fresh take on Cthulhu by imagining the horror occurring in our world with the technology of the year 2034. Players will journey across the world, attempting a rescue mission unlike any other, trying to circumvent the abominations in their way, as the reality of their world unravels before their eyes.

Cthulhu Dreamt is designed to evoke the old-world feel of 1930s and 40s eldritch horror, recontextualized in a near-future sci-fi world. While it contains many of the calling cards of popular eldritch horror imagery, we strove to give Cthulhu Dreamt more: its terrifying monsters contrasted heavily against a neo-noir backdrop put players in the difficult place of having to fight for and defend a difficult and imperfect world.

Like many classic eldritch horror tales, Cthulhu Dreamt is not a story that hides some subliminal, triumphant optimism beneath its surface. Here, the world is ending in secret, snuffed out not only by the great and invisible hand of the Old Ones but also by the pride and greed of powerful men and by the mistakes of a grieving mother. This world is not meant for you, nor you for it.

The Journey mechanic in Cthulhu Dreamt allows for players to cross great distances actively, rather than passively. Instead of happening in the blink of an eye, travel involves players selecting roles and narrating what they’ll do during their journey, assembling shelter, foraging for food, and overcoming obstacles cooperatively along the way. Travel also presents perfect road trip style roleplay opportunities for the players to grow closer and discuss the chaos of the world once it’s been upturned by Cthulhu’s awakening.

Combat in Cthulhu Dreamt is taken in rounds, with the players and NPCs alternating their actions back and forth, but that’s where similarities between Cthulhu Dreamt and other conventional TTRPGs end.

Rather than enemies having health bars that players wail on over and over until it's depleted, Cthulhu Dreamt’s combat plays out more like a puzzle (that’s trying to kill you). Enemies still have a physical limit, but they can be defeated in a number of ways, and enemies are typically designed with unique facets that make each encounter feel fresh, keeping the players on their toes. Some creatures can be subdued through traditional means, but most will require the players to get creative and think outside of the box to defeat them.

One of the most unique aspects of Cthulhu Dreamt is that the entire campaign was built around an original soundtrack composed and recorded by the Cthulhu Dreamt band alongside the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. Every track was created for specific moments in the story, helping Facilitators set the mood and immerse players in the world as key scenes unfold.

We want you to share your journey through Cthulhu Dreamt, which is why the soundtrack is completely stream-safe. You can use it in your actual plays, podcasts, livestreams, and video content on platforms like YouTube and Twitch without worrying about copyright strikes or content claims. Whether you're an established creator or launching your very first actual play series, Cthulhu Dreamt is designed to be experienced and shared with others.

Digital versions of each soundtrack are included with their respective book pledge tiers. For collectors and audiophiles, limited physical editions are also available on CD and vinyl.

The date is June 1, 2034. For the past five years, while humanity slept… Cthulhu Dreamt.

The Cthulhu Dreamt Tabletop Roleplaying Game is an original sci-fi horror TTRPG that takes you into a near-future Earth, dropping you directly in the center of a cosmic cataclysm. When Cthulhu rises from the ocean, parallel realities begin to merge, unleashing a tide of eldritch anomalies and otherworldly abominations. You must face these untold horrors and pray that you survive.

The Cthulhu Dreamt Tabletop Role-playing Game is over 500 pages of adrenaline-pumping dread. The book features a unique ruleset for both players and the Facilitator, along with handouts, character sheets, and a full-length campaign and accompanying soundtrack: everything you need to immerse yourself in the horrors of the infinite.

  • Journey across the globe as you take on the seemingly futile mission to restore balance to the cosmos and preserve the fate of the Earth in a multi-session campaign with 100+ hours of play.
  • Listen along to the game’s handcrafted, genre-blending 8+ hour soundtrack, where metal and orchestral music align. Each track serves as a musical score for a major moment in the story to elevate the tone and atmosphere beyond reality.
  • Use your sharp wits, your scarce equipment, and your limited pool of resources to withstand the effects of Cthulhu’s awakening in an original d12-based game system. Spend your attribute points carefully, or push yourself past your limits and beyond the brink of sanity.

Explore the effects of Cthulhu’s eldritch awakening on humanity with 5 unique side adventures that will take you around the world. Each Encounter pits you against the horrors of the unknown as they try to consume the planet and humanity along with it.

Encounters in the world of Cthulhu Dreamt serve as spin-off stories to the main campaign. However, while each one may not have a material impact on the campaign, they are interconnected with the events of the campaign. Characters made for these encounters might just return in a future encounter or even the campaign itself.

Springfield Nocturne is a two-part adventure taking players on a journey through a nondescript midwestern city which they call home. Springfield finds itself mysteriously occupied by the private military forces of Salien-Welf, a global corporation on the bleeding edge of technology and research. Players will dig to uncover the secret of this occupation, and if they’re lucky, live long enough to expose it.

This adventure serves as a great introduction to the world of Cthulhu Dreamt, including opportunities for all of the pre-generated characters to shine. Not every character must be taken, as every obstacle in the adventure can be solved in numerous ways.
Moorland Scherzo is an Encounter designed to be played over the course of 1 to 2 sessions. What initially begins as a search for a missing person transforms into a terrifying fight for survival against a strange and aggressive species of sentient fungus.

The Players will take on the roles of the townspeople of Hexworthy, a small hamlet in Dartmoor National Park. Each person is a friend or relative of Marcus Beaples, the man whose disappearance is the impetus for the Encounter. As the party searches for Marcus, they’ll discover that he was investigating the troubling disappearances and deaths of local farm animals, perpetrated by a mycelial organism that gains the ability to take over dead bodies.

R’lyehian March is an adventure designed to take place over the course of a single session. It takes players on a race against time through R’lyeh, a mysterious island that emerged from the sea 5 years ago. Since then, the island has been under exclusive research control of the private military and technology corporation: Salien-Welf.

In R’lyehian March, players will take on the role of elite EDGe Troopers, escorting a group of scientists to an extraction point in an attempt to save their lives and get their research off the island before it all comes crumbling down around them. This adventure serves as a prequel to the main campaign of Cthulhu Dreamt, and allows players to take on roles they might otherwise avoid.
