No. Our team has a strict no-AI policy. All art, music, and writing has been created with love by many human hands.
There are three ways to earn our exclusive d12s: 1. Follow the campaign before or during launch to receive the Cthulhu's Sonnet d12 with your qualifying pledge. 2. Returning backers can earn the Eldritch Blood d12. 3. Early backers will have the opportunity to claim the Runic Summons d12. If you qualify, your incentive item will automatically be included with your pledge. No secret rituals required.
No! If you qualify for one of the incentive dice, it will automatically appear with your pledge. Please do not add the incentive dice as an add-on unless you would like a second copy. Purchasing it as an add-on is separate from your free incentive. Some returning backers may not see the Returning Backer reward if they've previously backed through Kickstarter, we will be adding these rewards to your pledge during the pledge management phase of the campaign.
When you first select your pledge, you'll be shown all available add-ons. Simply click "Add to Pledge" on any item you'd like, and it will automatically be added to your order. Already pledged? No problem. Head to the Add-ons tab and click "Edit Your Pledge." From there, you can browse all available add-ons, make changes, and confirm your updated order.
No. Shipping will be charged later through BackerKit after the campaign ends. We'll collect your shipping information and charge shipping closer to fulfillment, when we're getting ready to send out books and other rewards. This helps ensure we can provide the most accurate shipping rates possible.
Because the soundtrack is written and recorded, and most of the rewards have already been produced, we anticipate beginning fulfillment by October this year. At this point, the books are in final layout and will soon head to print.
Call of Cthulhu is most often set in the 1920s to the 1940s, and typically sets you against an eldritch-horror-of-the-week kind of scenario. It's really good if you want to live out the events of the original Lovecraftian/Derlethian texts, which took place during that time period. Mechanically, Call of Cthulhu leans heavily into prescriptive skills and a sanity mechanic as an expression of capability and survival Cthulhu Dreamt is set in a near-future sci-fi world (think Black Mirror), so there's more technology about. It also has a custom soundtrack designed for its campaign and all its scenarios - Cthulhu Dreamt started as a band, and so music is very core to the game. As we wrote the campaign and scenarios, Reed Reimer (the musician behind Cthulhu Dreamt) wrote music designed to be played during a game session to elevate particularly cinematic moments. Mechanically, Cthulhu Dreamt is a D12 system that focuses on character specialties. Rather than using modifiers like in D&D, it allows you to spend your attribute points to achieve desirable outcomes, but you must manage these resources carefully, because good rest is scarce in a world infested with eldritch nightmares.
All you need to begin playing Cthulhu Dreamt is the Cthulhu Dreamt: Campaign & Rulebook and a standard set of polyhedral dice. The Campaign & Rulebook includes everything you need to learn the system and play through a complete campaign. Most checks use a d12, though combat and other mechanics may call for additional dice from a standard polyhedral set.
Cthulhu Dreamt: Campaign & Rulebook contains over 500 pages, including rules to play the game for both Players and Facilitators, as well as a full-length campaign. The campaign has players travel across the globe on a seemingly futile mission to restore balance to the cosmos and preserve the fate of the Earth in a multi-session campaign with 100+ hours of gameplay. The Encounter Portfolio has five individual encounters, intended to be run in 1-2 sessions each, giving you approximately 20+ hours of additional gameplay content.
Cthulhu Dreamt uses an original RPG system developed by Adam Baffoni, creator of the popular solo TTRPG Tether. The core mechanic is simple: when a character attempts something with a meaningful chance of failure, they roll a single twelve-sided die (d12) against a Target Number (TN) set by the Facilitator. Roll equal to or higher than the TN, and you succeed. Roll below it, and you fail. Characters are defined by a set of Attributes determined by their Specialty. Players can spend Attribute Points to improve their rolls, allowing them to push beyond their normal limits when it matters most. However, pushing yourself comes at a cost. Overexertion can inflict Physical or Mental Stress, and accumulating too much of either causes a character to reach their Limit, resulting in injuries that range from minor setbacks to life-threatening consequences. The result is a streamlined, narrative-focused system that emphasizes meaningful choices and mounting tension.
The campaign and encounters of Cthulhu Dreamt were entirely constructed to the tune of an original soundtrack, written for key moments during the story. These songs are meant to be played during the course of gameplay to help set the mood for specific scenes and to help players further immerse themselves in the world. Throughout the text, you'll find QR codes and instructions to play a given song, typically paired with instructions in the text immediately prior. This box will usually begin with a description of the song and its design intent. A second paragraph will likely follow, which gives more specific guidelines on how to use the song, like whether or not to loop it or exact moments when it should start or stop.
The soundtrack for the game was created by the band and originators of the name, Cthulhu Dreamt. What started as a concept project combining cinematic orchestral and synth hybrid music with various genres of metal, including djent, doom, death, and prog, has now become an official soundtrack for the TTRPG by the same name. The band is made up of Reed Reimer, Jake Myslinski, Nathan Berntson, Ben Larson, Chris Durston, and Leigh Underwood. Select songs from the Cthulhu Dreamt OST were performed and recorded by the Czech National Orchestra.
While the campaign and encounters were designed to go hand-in-hand with the accompanying soundtrack, the game is fully playable without the music. If playing without the music, we recommend that Facilitators deeply lean into the descriptions of people, creatures, settings, and events in order to help enhance the atmosphere.
We want you to share your journey through Cthulhu Dreamt, which is why we’ve made the soundtrack completely stream-safe. This means you can use it in your actual plays, podcasts, livestreams, and video content on platforms like YouTube and Twitch without worrying about copyright strikes or content claims.
The Conductor's score is the book of sheet music that the orchestra uses to perform and record select pieces from the soundtrack. The sheet music includes every instrument on these pieces, from the flute all the way down to the double bass, with everything in between. On a couple of pieces, it will also include the band instruments used within: guitar, bass, drums, etc. The size of the book 10.5 x 7.5" is formatted as a “study score” so that anyone who wants to could follow along with the track and see which instruments are playing what, and when. Composers, conductors, and music lovers use these to see what other composers are using for techniques or how they're orchestrating to achieve certain sounds. In addition to the orchestral pieces from the soundtrack, this book also includes notes from the composers discussing musical themes used throughout, and discussing the score itself, as well as the music from the non-game discography of Cthulhu Dreamt. The digital version, included in the physical pledge, also includes the guitar tablature for select songs as well.

BackerKit Crowdfunding is an all-or-nothing collaborative funding platform. Creators share their project ideas and set a funding goal with a deadline. Backers pledge money to help make the project possible.
If the project meets its goal by the deadline, pledges are charged and the creator moves forward. If it doesn’t, no one is charged.
Backers often receive special rewards for their support, such as:
- Exclusive products
- Bonus rewards for backing related projects
- Discount pricing
- Behind-the-scenes updates
- Creative input opportunities
Pledging in crowdfunding is a commitment to support the creation of a new product or project. Unlike a traditional purchase, you're not buying an item that already exists. Instead, your contribution helps bring a creative idea to life, and in return, you typically receive rewards (such as the product itself) as a thank you for your early support.

- You are charged only if the campaign meets its funding goal.
- Charges happen when the campaign ends, not when you pledge.
The creator will send you a survey to:
- Ask you for more information about your rewards (selecting options, etc)
- Collect shipping information
- Offer additional items you may want to add to your pledge
- Collect shipping fees (if applicable)
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge. Additional payments are charged when you complete the survey.
Only the project creator and the BackerKit Support Team can see your pledge and contact information. Other backers and the public cannot see your individual pledge amount or personal details.
You can change or adjust your pledge level and add-ons before the campaign ends. After the project concludes, cancellations or changes are at the creator's discretion and may depend on what stage the project is in.
Overtime Mode extends your campaign past its original end time to give backers a final chance to make their pledge. It will add an additional 10 minutes past the end time as long as pledges keep coming in. The campaign will end when there is a 10-minute period without any new pledges.
