Project Update: It's finally here! (Dispatching yours soon!)

The second iteration of the physical proof has finally arrived!

I'm very happy! It looks great. The issues with the cover and interior layout are sorted.

It's bigger that the first iteration, but with fewer pages.

Anyway, enough of me gushing, let's get to the part that matters to you.

Physical copies are going to start getting printed and shipped. These are coming directly from our print partner. If you haven't yet completed your surveys, there is no time like the present. These books cannot be sent without you completing the surveys because your shipping detail aren't known.

One the print and ship order has been queued, each order will take a week to dispatch. It took two weeks after the order for this proof was dispatched for it to reach me. Well, the post office for my area.
I'm ecstatic to reach this milestone, finally. Just the custom playing cards to go!

We're getting there, thanks for being a part of this. Your patience is deeply appreciated.

Project Update: The Rule Book (Print Edition) Just Leveled Up

Hey Fateweavers,

Since the last update, we’ve made some major changes. And by “changes,” we mean we rebuilt the entire layout for the print edition from the ground up.

The first proof helped us realise that the smaller, novel-sized format just wasn’t working — especially for the tables. Everything felt cramped, and readability took a hit. So, we made the call to switch to a larger US Letter format and move to a two-column layout. It’s cleaner, easier to read, and feels like a proper rule book should.

The new files have been sent off to the printer, and the proof ships on November 11th. It should take about two weeks to arrive, and hopefully, this will be the last round of changes before we lock everything in.

It’s been a longer road than expected, but this new version looks and feels like the book we always wanted to make.

Project Update: Rule Book in Hand, Cards on Deck

Hey Fateweavers,
Monsters & Myths Custom Face Cards
Plenty to share with you this round, so let’s get straight to it:
  1. The physical proof for the rule book finally arrived!
This isn’t the original order, but the reprint. The cover was misaligned (that one’s on me), and holding it in my hands only confirmed what I already knew: I didn’t like the old cover anyway. Good news is a new cover is ready, approved, and sorted. Issues aside, holding that physical proof in my hands felt amazing! Looking forward for you to have a similar experience soon.

  2. Digital rewards have gone out!
You should now have everything you need to start playing. We’re excited to see what stories you spin and hope you are too.

  3. Not to bury the lead… the layouts for the custom face cards are done.
We’re really happy with how the digital version looks, and they’ll be heading off for a print proof within the week. Can’t wait to share those with you.

  4. A few more of you completed your surveys — thank you!
Every completed survey clears another piece of the puzzle, so we can keep moving smoothly into fulfillment.
We’re moving closer to getting everything in your hands. If you haven’t filled out your backer survey yet, now’s the time. It’s quick, simple, and makes sure you get the rewards you pledged for without delay.
And while you’re at it, don’t forget to check out the Monsters & Myths Workshop on Substack. That’s where we keep the worldbuilding, design notes, and behind-the-scenes magic flowing.
Let’s keep this momentum going.

Project Update: An Invitation: You Built the Foundation. Now, Help Us Build the World.

Hey everyone,

It’s been a journey. Because of your incredible support in our first BackerKit campaign, Monsters & Myths went from a dream to a reality. You helped us forge the rulebook, fund the art, and bring this world to life. For that, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

There has been so much I've wanted to share with you all during the campaign and this fulfillment phase — deep dives into the lore, the design philosophy, the 'why' behind it all — but a simple campaign update never felt like the right place for that kind of conversation.

The rewards are being fulfilled, but the story is far from over. In fact, it’s just beginning.

Today, I’m excited to invite you to the next phase of our adventure: The Monsters & Myths Workshop, our new, official home on Substack. The doors to the Workshop will officially open this Monday, August 1st!

This isn't just a newsletter. It’s an invitation to step inside the workshop.

When you join us — for free — you’re not just getting updates. You’re getting a seat at the table where the game is being played, tested, and forged. Here’s what that means:

  • The Designer's Journal: You’ll get direct access to the "why" behind the game's design. We’ll be exploring the philosophy of our card-based system, our unique approach to progression, and the folklore that inspires our world.

  • The System Deep Dive: We'll teach you the game, piece by piece, in a series of clear, accessible posts. You’ll learn the nuances of the four Domains, the power of Face Cards, and the art of building a truly unique Persona, directly from the source.

  • The Collaborative Saga: This is where you stop being a reader and become a co-creator. Starting next week, we are building our first official hero from the ground up, and your vote will decide everything from their core powers to where their story begins. Your vote doesn't just influence the story; it is the story.

  • The Council Thread: You will have a standing invitation to our monthly "Council" sessions— a dedicated space to ask questions, offer feedback, and help us stress-test and refine the game. Your insights will directly inform the future of Monsters & Myths.

The first edition is here because of you. Now, the world grows. This Substack is where we’ll build the rest of the city, and we want you to help us do it.

For those of you who missed the original campaign, please know that there will be opportunities to get the 1.0 rulebook and the first official adventure down the line. The Workshop is the best place to make sure you don't miss that announcement.

Click the link below to join the Workshop. It’s completely free, and it’s where the next chapter of our story begins.

Thank you again for being here from the start. I can't wait to see what we build together.

All the best,

Marc with Monsters & Myths
