Excuse us for a moment as we go and dance like the dead for a bit. FULLY FUNDED IN 90 MINUTES - thank you so much for your early support! We know that Snowbright is best known for all things cozy, so we weren't sure how many "spooky crew" people would show up... and so we are just over the moon to see so many of you here already.
That's all. We just had to say thank you. And that you're awesome.
OH and if you're reading this and haven't backed yet - what are you waiting for?? It's all aboard right now for the skeleton train to spooky town... so jump on the train, grab your Early Bird bonus, and let's get into all things dark and wonderful.
We'll be in touch again tomorrow... in the meantime...
It’s time for another little peek behind the shadows at Grim Omen. This time, I have a snippet from our interview with Conner Rush. Conner is the developer behind Fyre Games and the upcoming game Project Songbird. In our interview, he takes us behind the scenes of his game's creation, touching on his journey as a game dev, what it's like to be a small studio, and the amazing people who have been a part of this project, from voice actors to musicians.
Here is a little bitty taste of that interview…
Conner: “Horror allows us to tell really effective stories in a very universal, emotional space. Many movies talk about subjects that are terrifying and are universally feared. I think horror gives us the appropriate framing to portray those emotions accurately. That’s where I like to use horror. When it becomes effective for me is talking about these very existential and dark themes while conveying those themes in a way that I feel is emotionally accurate and will affect the play in a way that is as impactful as possible.”
Project Songbird launches in March, so keep your eye out for it on Steam! There is plenty of time to play the game before digging into its development when Conner’s interview is printed.
Grab your flashlights and get settled in for some spooktacular content from the world of dark fantasy, horror, and sci-fi. Can't wait until your first volume arrives? I understand. The anticipation is getting to me as well! So… how about a little sneak peek at what's to come in the first few volumes of Grim Omen? I’ll drop in every week from now until launch with a tasty morsel of Grim content for you to enjoy. Let's get started…. If you love horror and the age of the scream queen, you won't want to miss our interview with Debbie Rochon. With a career spanning from 1980 to today, including film, radio, film festivals, and so much more, Debbie has a unique perspective on horror as a genre and how it has evolved over time. Here's a little tidbit from that conversation.
Debbie: “When I started, the term ‘final girl’ wasn't even a term, but it was certain you were going to get naked, and you were going to get killed. If a woman lived to the end, you might be her, and you might not.
But I really do love the fact that, now, things have changed so much. You can look at women like Jamie Lee Curtis – who is still working and hasn't felt the need to completely distort herself to do so – and Jodie Foster in Night Country, who are out there taking chances. They're a big part of the production, and are by no means in any box. It's been really liberating to see that because when I started, obviously, it was all the guys who called the shots and gave all the opportunities to women.”
I really think you all will love to sink your fangs into the rest of this interview!
