Enjoy the followup to our bestselling anthology, Lesbians in Space: Where No Man Has Gone Before! Can't get enough? This time we've got another 20 great stories for you in Lesbians in Space: The Sapphics Strike Back!
Space Wizard Science Fantasy is a queer science fiction and fantasy indie publishing company which opened its doors in 2021 to publishing outside authors.
For the past 4 years, we've run successful campaigns each June running between $10,000 and $20,000, funding 12 or more books releasing that year!
Last year, we ran the very successful campaign for Lesbians in Space: Where No Man Has Gone Before, including stories from 4 Hugo award-winning and nominated authors. This campaign raised over $10,000 and we had so many excellent submissions, we're publishing not one, but two anthologies!
This September, we're participating in Printopia 2025. Our new anthology is called Lesbians in Space: The Sapphics Strike Back and we have an amazing list of authors lined up for you:
- Tim Pratt (genderfluid, any pronouns) is the author of over 30 novels, including the Axiom space opera series, beginning with Philip K. Dick Award finalist The Wrong Stars. She’s a Hugo Award winner for short fiction, and has been a finalist for Nebula, World Fantasy, Sturgeon, Stoker, and other awards. She publishes a new story every month at www.patreon.com/timpratt and posts incessantly on Bluesky at https://bsky.app/profile/timpratt.org
- TJ Berry (she/her) grew up between Hong Kong and the New Jersey shore. Her favorite pizza comes from Three Brothers in Seaside and she can be coaxed into a trap using any type of cheese. TJ has been a political blogger, a bakery owner, and she once spent a disastrous two weeks working in a razor blade factory. She currently writes science fiction, fantasy, and horror from Los Angeles with considerably fewer on-the-job injuries. TJ is the author of Space Unicorn Blues and Five Unicorn Flush from Angry Robot, as well as several short stories. Find her on Instagram: @tjberrywrites
We also have a bunch of returning Space Wizard Authors!
- William C. Tracy (he/him) Owner and editor for Space Wizard Science Fantasy! His largest work is the Dissolutionverse: a space opera with music-based magic including nine books and a TTRPG. He’s also published Fruits of the Gods, an epic fantasy with seasonal fruit magic; How to Operate Your Body, a nonfiction book about body mechanics and correct posture; and The Biomass Conflux, a sci-fi trilogy with colony ships and a planet covered by a sentient fungus. He’s currently working on a progression fantasy series about martial arts and moving islands. William is an NC native, has a master’s in mechanical engineering, has trained in Wado-Ryu karate since 2003, and keeps bees.
- Heather Tracy (she/her), has been the lead copy editor for Space Wizard since before 2016. She also runs her own travel agency, Melvin's Travel Adventures, where she plans Nerdventures—travel for the nerd in all of us. As a writer, she's had short stories published in the Fiery Deeps and Lesbians in Space: Where No Man Has Gone Before anthologies. Her debut novel, Only a Chapter, was published in April 2025.
- Robin C.M. Duncan (he/him), is a Scot born and living in Glasgow. A Civil Engineer by profession, he has been writing for decades, but seriously only for the last ten years. Robin has completed various novels, numerous short stories, novellas, novelettes, and poems, with copious other projects in different stages of incompletion. Robin’s short story The NEU Oblivion was long-listed for the 2019 James White Award. He has contributed stories for five Space Wizard anthologies, as well as writing his science fiction thriller series, Quirk & Moth, beginning with The Mandroid Murders.
Robin belongs to the Glasgow Science Fiction Writers’ Circle, the Reading Excuses critique group, the British Fantasy Society, and the British Science Fiction Association. Deputy Area Head, Glasgow 2024 Presents. Robin likes LEGO, gardening, heavy metal, football (soccer), and long walks on the beach. Robin does not own a cat, but is slightly acquainted with one.
- C.J. Hosack(she/her), grew up in Southern California loving fantasy and science fiction. She has four children and an ever growing number of grandchildren. Adopted at eight months old, she recently found her birth parents. She has a Master’s Degree in Public History from Southern New Hampshire University, and if she’s not writing, you can generally find her quilting, costuming, or traveling to spend time with those she loves. C.J. is currently two and a half books into writing her YA fantasy series about adoption and hereditary magic. She’s a wannabe dress historian and follows many similar accounts. You can find C.J. on Twitter @CJHosack.
- Kristina W. Kelly (she/her) is an author of poetry, short stories, and novels including the sapphic fantasy romance adventure Tavern Tale (inspired by RPGs), a coauthored epic fantasy and sci-fi fusing series the Etherea Cycle, and the sci-fi and fantasy poetry collection Imaginari. Kristina is Secretary for Poetry Society of Indiana (2025), published in online poetry magazines and anthologies, and has received multiple honorable mentions and semi-finalist from the Writers of the Future contest.
Since childhood, writing stories on her mother’s typewriter or trying to catalog her own books like a library, Kristina has been in love with storytelling. Her undergraduate pursuits focused on Psychology, Music, and Computer Science. With trumpet as her main instrument and a connection to nature, Kristina often works music and visual landscapes into her writings. She takes photography, plays video games, and tends to her flower garden. She loves going on new adventures in the great wide somewhere (sometimes just by picking up a new book). Kristina resides in Indiana with her husband and sons.
There were also many great stories submitted by authors new to Space Wizard!
Aimee Cozza (she/her) is a freelance illustrator, web designer, and author from New England. She graduated from New England College (Formerly New Hampshire Institute of Art) in 2012 with a BFA in illustration. Aimee primarily focuses on subjects regarding the dark-beautiful, surreal, and unsettling, within genres of sci-fi and fantasy, often mixing or blurring the two. She enjoys exploring themes such as duality, disconnection, doomed romance, and mental illness/trauma. Her debut sci-fi novella, The Warm Machine, was published with a successful crowdfunding campaign in 2024 to a positive reception. Gina Fabio (they/them) is a bookkeeper (not the fun kind of books, alas), lifelong New Englander, and Godzilla enthusiast. They are a Futurescapes alum and frequent attendee of Writing Excuses retreats, but largely prefer to hole up on their couch to write alone like a good introvert. They can be found at ginafabio.com/blog.
Jonathan Fuller (he/him) grew up amid the sprawling corn and soybean fields of small-town Indiana. Reading and writing were his escape from everyday life. After completing a degree in English, he moved around a bit before landing in Austin, Texas. In his free time, he plays flag football and spends time with his chosen family. Jonathan's other published work includes Trials of the Innermost, the first book in The Etherea Cycle, a science fantasy series co-authored with Kristina Kelly. Rien Gray (they/them) is an agender butch author of lesbian-centered fantasy, noir, and speculative fiction. They have an ongoing Arthuriana series focused on trans and sapphic knights, starting with Valerin the Fair, and their most recent release is a blood drenched, eros-heavy novella called The Scales of Seduction. When not writing, they lift heavy things, play video games, and collect queer history books.
Melissa Hopper (she/her) is a queer writer and Indie film maker who’s speculative fiction explores love resilience, and human connection against extraordinary backdrops. Her short story, "A Place That Holds Us," received an honorable mention from the Writers of the Future contest in early 2025. She is currently finishing her first novel and is developing a sapphic web series through her brand, Twin Orchids Media.
Karen Lawler (she/her) works in children’s publishing, where she helps turn books into movies and tv shows. She has previously published a short story, “I Hate Darcy Pemberley,” in the YA short story collection Proud. She lives in London with her wife.
Kia Leep (they/them) is the author of quirky, creepy, and queer fantasy books. Before turning to fiction, they built spaceships to send people to the Moon. When not roller skating or walking their dog, they can be found with a cup of tea working on any of their dozens of in-progress stories.
Fiona Moore (she/her) is a BSFA Award winning, WFA shortlisted writer, academic and critic, author of Management Lessons from Game of Thrones and the Morag and Seamus series of cozy post-apocalyptic stories. Her work has appeared in Asimov, Clarkesworld and Interzone, and she has published two novels. She makes miniatures and runs a blog about cooking food from franchise tie-in cookbooks. She lives in London with a tortoiseshell cat who is bent on world domination and a snowshoe cat who’s not bothered.
Karin J. Robinson (she/her) is an agented author of science fiction and fantasy. This is My Body was short-listed for the Spring 2025 Writers of the Future prize, and her other short fiction has been published in 100 Foot Crow and in Trembling With Fear. She is a graduate of the Faber Academy How to Write a Novel course and an active member of the British Fantasy Society and the Spectrum Writer’s Group in London where she lives with her husband, daughter and two very spoiled cats. N.A. Soleil is a portmanteau pseudonym for N and A Soleil — partners in writing, life, and snarkery. N is an AuDHD creative magpie weaving all the imagination-based activities to make her nest the shiniest, and A is a combat vet with C-PTSD whose world travels and interest in the "why" of humans led to building the foundation for Metacosm.
Theresa Tyree (they/she) grew up in the Oregon woods, dreaming of magic amongst the trees. She lives in Portland, with their platonic life partner and cat. As a nonbinary queer woman, Theresa’s favorite tales to tell are speculative queer stories that give her readers hope. She has particular interest in writing the “missing scenes” of Greek mythology that empower marginalized people and add to her own heritage. You can read more of their work on their website, theresatyree.com. Follow her on Bluesky at @theresatyree. Rem Wigmore (they/them) is a speculative fiction writer from Aotearoa New Zealand, author of the Vengeful Wild duology (Foxhunt and Wolfpack). Rem’s other books include Riverwitch and The Wind City. Their short fiction is published in venues including Capricious Magazine, Baffling Magazine and two Year’s Best Aotearoa New Zealand Science Fiction & Fantasy anthologies. In 2023 Rem won the Sir Julius Vogel Award for Best Fan Writing with their cli-fi essay "Conservation, Red in Tooth and Claw." Rem’s probably a changeling, but you’re stuck with them now. The coffee here is just too good. Rem can be found online at remwigmore.com. Sarah Zane (she/her) is an author of happy endings for traumatized queers. As a bisexual, it should be shocking to no one that she has more than one genre she loves and writes. She writes across genres but guarantees that a Sarah Zane book will always be queer and always have a happy ending...eventually. She has a particular fondness for writing sapphic pairings since they tend to be underrepresented in books. She lives in New England with her 2 black cats named Gatsby and Mr. Darcy.

Want to look over the available books? Here are the choices!
Simply choose your addon(s) when you pledge, in the pledge manager. If you picked a digital pledge level, you'll be asked for your address when choosing a physical addon.
My shipping fees are from my experience in the last six campaigns. Note the above numbers are estimates. Shipping will be added when you fill out your survey form, and is based on your location. Generally, US shipping for one book will be about $7, three books will be about $9, and five books is around $11. See below for International shipping.
International Shipping: I will still attempt to ship internationally, but considering the U.S. political situation, it is possible shipping books overseas may become prohibitively expensive or even impossible to ship before rewards are sent. If this happens, I will handle any issues for international orders as I can, by issuing refunds, manually changing orders from physical to electronic, or dropshipping books rather than personalizing them.
The cost starts around $30 for one book, shipping to Canada, and $50 international. The price will go up for extra books by weight. For example, another 2 books will add around $5-10 in shipping. This is the cheapest I've been able to find it for, especially if you are getting multiple books. I'd recommend getting the eBooks, and then you can get as many as you want!
Where's all the money going? Risks and challenges.
There are always risks and challenges with determining a budget for a campaign such as this, but I am a Professional Engineer by training, have spent the last 20 years in cost and benefit analysis, and now do data analysis for a living (along with publishing). I have accurately assessed costs for large projects in my work environment so I have a good understanding of how and where money is spent, and I have applied that knowledge to six previous campaigns. See below for how the money from the campaign is used:
Even if you don't pledge, thanks for taking the time to read this through! We strive to deliver quality queer stories to you with a professional feel. We hope Space Wizard will continue to expand, giving making plenty of stories where everyone can see themselves.
