Project Update: Double update!

Good evening friends!

First off, let me apologize for not providing an update in April, and since it's June 3rd, May too, but this is intended to be the May update.. I had every intention of sending the April update before I left for Dungeon Con but I got so wrapped up in making Dungeon Con as awesome as it could be that other duties slipped away from my attention.

Speaking of Dungeon Con, did you hear about the most excellent convention around! Goodman Games opened their warehouse doors and some of the most amazing staff members and writers ran games among the pallets of the warehouse. It reminded me of my youth in Iowa exploring through abandoned grain mills and finding secret corners to set up forts and play games. If you didn't get a chance to go this year, start planning now for 2026 when Dungeon Con will return bigger and better!

Now back to business! During April, master artist Andy Edmonds finished up several amazing pieces of additional art. Some of those will be shown below under the spoilers tag. If you want a sneak peak, you can check them out but be warned, they will provide spoilers for some things that are contained within the pages of the module.

During the month of May, master artist Jeffrey Witty, has been working on some several handout images that will be added to the module. Originally, I had planned for the runic puzzle words to just be included in the description of the room but I thought it would be much cooler to have some handouts the players could be given to try to figure out the first puzzle. Some of those image will also be included below. Those you can look at because there is no way anyone could figure out the meaning without the cipher!

This month it will be all about finishing the layout and finalizing the PDF. Delivery is scheduled for July and time is running short. I'll keep you updated with another update at the end of June. Be expecting the pledge manager coming your way in the next week or two.

I'll also be running The Golden Idol of En-Tridar at this weekend at North Texas RPG Con and thought it would be cool to hand out some jar grips to a few of the players. I wanted to give y'all a heads up so it wouldn't freak anyone out if you saw someone post one online.

Thanks everyone!

Project Update: Behold the power of the un-dead cyclops jar grip!!

Hello everyone! We've got some exciting news, the jar grips have arrived and they are awesome! But don't take my word for it. Check out this video evidence submitted by a random citizen attesting to how strong the un-dead cyclops jar grip really is!

Never be frustrated by a stuck jar ever again!

These have been created in limited quantities and when they are gone, they are gone, so be sure to order yours when the pledge manager goes live. Here are a couple more pictures to feast your eyes on. If you look closely, you can see the twinkle of DCC in the eye of the cyclops!

Speaking of the pledge manager, you should expect to see that in the next month or two to finalize your pledge. We've got some of the last art coming in by Andy Edmonds, some of which is ready for review right now.

Keep Stefan Surratt and his family in your thoughts and prayers. We had a crazy wind storm down here and part of his room was ripped off his house! Please give him a shoutout of support when you can.

I had a disaster of my own coming home from Alamo City Game Con last night. My wife and I were rear ended in a 6 car pile up on I-35 in San Antonio. Luckily no one was seriously injured and we managed to limp the truck all the way back to Austin to avoid a ridiculous $700 towing fee. Please keep us, and the rest of the drivers, in your thoughts as well as we nurse a couple bruises and start the insurance paperwork to get our vehicle repaired. The cars you see here got the worst of it, we were the white truck in front of this mess.

My head is still a lil loopy so that's all for now. More news next month!

Project Update: Behold the Player Map!

If you caught the last episode of RAW: Rules As Written, then you already know what's coming. Adam Akana, an amazing artist/cartographer, has finished both the player and the Judge maps! Adam drew an excellent piece with an astounding amount of detail work and very cool art around the outside edge of the map. And you hear correctly. There is a players map Judges will be able to show their players without giving away the hidden secrets, and there are many secrets. Some of these pieces will give you an idea of what horrors lie in wait in The Golden Idol of En-Tridar.

In next month's update, I hope to have the cyclopean jar grips. Don't let that stuck jar of pickles annoy you for another second. Reach for the cyclops jar grip to help get a grip on any situation!

Now let's check out this map.

Project Update: Rewrites! New Art! Player Map!

Hey everyone,

Sorry about the tardiness of this January update, I meant to send it before I headed off to Aggie Con. So we'll be getting two this month, the second one coming near the end of the month. So where are we at with the module? We are still on track for a summer delivery.

One very exciting update is that Andy Edmonds, also known as Nerdronomicon, will be joining the project to provide some additional art for the module, making it absolutely packed with real art by real artists! You can see examples of Andy's work in his recent zine The Sorcerer's Return and on his website: https://nerdronomicon.com/. I've very excited to have him providing more awesome art and will share some sneak peaks in future updates.

When I began layout and looked at where the art would fit best, it immediately made me want to retreat a little bit and get some more awesome pieces of art in there. I also started rewriting a couple sections that seemed a little unnecessarily verbose. I guess Julian isn't the only sesquipedalian around here.

I've also contracted an amazing cartographer names Adam Akana, aka Tymortis. Adam is just breaking into the industry and his skill is undeniable! Check out these sick previews of the player map he is working on
Will you solve this cipher wheel before being consumed by the dragons poisonous breath?

What horrors await under these ominous grates?

Beware! The most beautiful flowers hide the deepest cuts.

Is it a spider? Is it a pig? Both, it's a porcanea!

Be sure to leave a comment and let Adam know how awesome his art is. And yes, I said player map! Adam is creating a player facing version of the map without all the secrets and traps that will be visible on the Judge's map.

That's all for now, more to come soon.

Be sure to check out The Conquest of Chaos, live on BackerKit right now! This compilation of modules written by my Rules As Written co-host, Stefan Surratt, features GIANTS of all kinds and will take PCs from 0 to 5th level in an entire campaigns worth of material!

And coming soon from the father-daughter creative team of Charles Roysten and his daughter Izzy, a 0-level funnel for all those characters who perish in the meat grinder. Sign up to be notified when The Cult That Never Was goes live!

Project Update: Gearing up for 2025!

I hope everyone had a great holiday season. I've been busy hosting visiting family and plan to get back to work on the layout of the module after the new year.

In an exciting news update. I have commissioned a map from a new and upcoming member of the community, Adam Akana. Adam, also known as Tymorits on Discord, will be our cartographer for the main dungeon map and is also a skilled artist who can add the DCC flair of images around the border. I'm very excited to welcome him to the team.

Happy New Year! Be safe and don't drink and drive!

Next update in January
