New FAQ: how can I use my minis outside of the Nostalgitron?
We're almost at 150 backers, which means we're almost at a 9th mini!
We’ve gone ahead and developed a 9th battlemap mini, Scruth-Scruth the Talking Chubcat. If we get to ...
Hi all, quick note to ask: do you mind taking 1 minute to fill out our survey? We are done with the book other than the list of backer credits! It looks amazing, and we can't wait to share it. But we want to credit the backers who helped bring this beautifully weird project to life.
Keep in mind, we will reach out again to check shipping addresses when we're closer to having a final print plan. This won't be for at least a few months, as our printer is building a new facility outside of China, and tariffs continue to fluctuate. So don't worry about your address for now.
That's it! Thanks, and happy summer.
Just one illustration from the final book: super-mutants at home in their Nostalgitronic castle
Dear Nostalgitronic fam, just a quick note to give you the heads-up that we'll be sending out surveys to confirm your names for the credits page soon. Of course, you can also choose to be listed under that celebrated catch-all, "Anonymous."
Next, we'll send PDFs of the book, hopefully within two or three weeks! It's laid out, illustrated, and edited. Michael is just giving a few art elements a last polish, and we're adding your approved-for-credits names, post-survey.
We'll reach out again later when we have more news about printing and shipping rewards. When we're close to shipping, we'll confirm addresses and charge for shipping. That will probably happen later in 2025.
In the meantime, fingers crossed that the situation with tariffs and, well, everything improves.
Hit us up with any questions! Excited to share the book soon.
Dear backers, happy spring! Thank you for your patience as we move ahead with bringing the Nostalgitron to life. TL;DR: we’re on track to send out PDFs this summer. At the same time, we’re finalizing our physical production plans, having looked into a few options due to tariffs.
Layout and art
Michael has laid out the book and illustrated the vast majority of it. We’ve added a couple of paragraphs and callouts, here and there, but mostly we’re sticking to the manuscript we wrote over the winter. Overall, it’s looking amazing! Here are a few sample spreads to show off the look and feel. Drumroll…
Watch out for the WARNING SHOTS—
Pre-gens, with fully articulated limbs—
Early sketches of some brainwashed NPCs—
Henchmen (lore REDACTED for your narrative protection)—
Printing and manufacturing
You can write this part yourself: the tariffs… worked perfectly, incentivizing U.S. manufacturing companies to reshore with the quickness and lowering prices for all. <Stares at camera, unsmiling.>
In all seriousness, since the tariff landscape keeps changing, we are actively researching our options. There are a few. We will get the books produced no matter what. Once we have a solid timeline, we'll share more.
Surveys
We’re setting up BackerKit Pledge Manager to send our surveys soon, mainly to confirm your name for the credits + your email address for the PDFs.
Shipping will happen later, and we’ll send a follow-up to confirm your address then.
Shout-out: Lazlo’s Cubed Crypt!
There are only a few hours left to back this extremely cool physical project made by some folks we know. Go check it out!
Lazlo's Cubed Crypt is a level-12 adventure for Dungeons & Dragons 5e accompanied by a physical Puzzle Cube map. With a map provided by professional cartographer Dyson Logos, Lazlo’s Cubed Crypt features a Puzzle Cube map. Choose whether you require your players to solve the cube as part of the adventure or give it to them in the solved state as they navigate through the dungeon.
As Michael builds out the book, we’ve started hosting livedrawing streams with him over on our Twitch channel so we can chat with each other and anyone who’s interested in art, design, and publishing. We’ve held two so far and will almost certainly hold at least one more. Please comment on this post and let us know what you think!
In addition, we’ve published a few different episodes of our game-design podcast, Why We Roll, in conversation with Michael as well as our BackerKit Collab partner, Marco Serrano of Spicy Tuna RPG. If you missed these during the campaign, check them out now! The conversations were really fun, and they span a wide range of topics when it comes to indie publishing, art-making, genre fiction, and more.
Major thanks to each of the 150+ backers who’ve made this project possible.
Thanks to you, Scruth-Scruth is here. They’re anxious, they’re rainbow-colored, and they come with unique rules (in “Scruth-Scruth Steals the Show”). If you haven’t backed at a tier with minis, consider picking up all 8 + plus the new, totally free 9th mini!
Today's the last day, so please consider sharing the campaign with a friend. Thank you so much!
