I'm sorry it's been so long since the last update. I just realized that the last one I did write didn't get posted so it is even longer than I knew since you've heard from me. Things are moving but slowly. After months of chasing him down I finally got a signature on a contract from my last author. I'm laying out the text and am about halfway done. There are a few pieces of art still outstanding. Here is the last one that did come in, an illustration of the character Donna Stone from Rick Silva's story, "Soup".
I'm still waiting on two pieces of internal art and I need to try again to chase down two of my writers to get contracts signed so I can pay them. I'll check in again with you next week, hopefully with more news.
I apologize for the long silence on the progress of the Best of S&SM1 anthology. It has been very slow so it has been hard for me to talk about. At the moment I am still waiting for two pieces of art to come in. I have hope that they will be finished soon, but won't make any predictions on how much longer they will take lest I disappoint you. Once they do arrive I will try to get things together to go to the printer as quickly as possible. Meanwhile, I am chasing down my writers again to get contracts signed and payments to them made. I am also getting things set for the layout process that will be completed as quickly as I can once the art is all in.
Once again, I am sorry for not keeping you updated more often. I'll try to be better going forward. On the theory that no news is not good news, I will endeavor to send out weekly updates from now on, so look to hear from me again next Tuesday.
Work is still ongoing on "The Best of Swords & Sorcery Magazine, Vol. 1" The remaining interior art is coming in and layout work is in progress. Here's a peek at one of the most recent illustrations we've received, the illustration by David House for "The Ink of the Slime Lord" by Jason Ray Carney.

A big thank you to everyone who has backed the project. We hit our funding goal with a few days left in the campaign. Of course, the campaign is still ongoing and it would be really great if we could hit our first stretch goal of doubling author pay...
