How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.
To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.
All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.
Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.
Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.
When will I be charged for my pledge?
Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.
What happens after the campaign is over?
The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.
Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.

📦 Shipping Worldwide and Fees
It's important to note, although this is a relatively small pin project, it is on top of our day-to-day. Therefore, we want to be clear that this is a crowdfunding project, it's an investment into us, this is not our online shop. So by backing us here, you will agree to everything in the FAQ: 🌏 Where We Ship We ship worldwide! No matter where you are, you can celebrate Lunar New Year with us. 🛸 Shipping Fees & Options ❗IMPORTANT❗ By backing this campaign, you agree you will need to pay shipping after the campaign ends. We do this to save you money as people add to orders and we don't want to charge you extra if you order multiple pins. We use USPS + Tracking for US orders and Royal Mail/DHL + Tracking for International orders. Here's an estimate: - US: $4.95+ to $13.95 - UK: £4.95+ to £10.95 - Europe: €13.50+ to €19 - International: £14+
🤖 Manufacturer Quality Delays Risk
To mitigate these risks, we send detailed product specifications to our manufacturers. In the fastest timeline, at least 32 days are required from design approval to product shipped to us before we can turn it around to you, assuming everyone gets it right the first time. We've also been known to reject runs because they aren't to our standards. Although we've begun manufacturing, there's a chance there's a delay here.
🛃 Customs
When shipping internationally we will denote the package value as the cost of your order, and mark this as Sale of Goods. We are not responsible if your country holds your package and requires extra payment to release it, but as our members can attest, we're pretty good on email.
🤩 Designs in Adobe Illustrator vs the Manufactured Pin
There's something magical about holding an enamel pin. No matter how good we make a design look in Adobe Illustrator, it always looks different in real life. Different, but better (at least that's our opinion). We wanted to be transparent here because the pins won't look 100% the exact same in the mockup as when you're holding it in your hands, but we think they'll feel even nicer.
💖 Final Note on Community Safety and Mental Health
The Companion is a closed member community, funded and supported through the generosity of our paying members. We try hard to keep it a safe and welcoming space. This project is on BackerKit and out in the public. So even though we encourage folks to share and be open, we will block anyone who we deem is inappropriate, hateful, defamatory, or ignorant without warning or explanation. 🙏 Thank You!
