Just here this week to let you know that we're still on track and working hard to meet all the deadlines Conor set forth in the last update! We've been toiling away in our respective caves going over the final details and finishing touches of the book!
We've also had a couple of questions about placing orders etc, up until we explicitly close Pre-Orders you are still more than welcome to place last minute orders and you'll still be included in the upcoming distribution! The same goes for any backers that want to make specific changes to their existing addons etc, we can't offer refunds but if you want to pick up an addon that you previously didn't have the funds for we're more than happy to accommodate! For any queries or requests regarding orders or anything for that matter feel free to chuck me an email at [email protected]!
Now for the bulk of this weeks previews, last update Conor gave you a peak at most of the gorgeous painted art pieces in the book. Today I'm bringing you some in situ previews of the layout as well as some of the gorgeous pen and ink illustrations dotted throughout!
Magic and Miscellany: First we have a preview of the equipment and one of the spell-list spreads! One small note I'd like to share about the equipment page is that that helmet is a Conor original design but he designed it so that it is entirely functional! The art throughout this book is so full of small details like that, things that not everyone that reads Faerie will fully appreciate but shows just how much of a passion project this is for us!
The spells and magic item pages will also be similarly dotted with spot illustrations like the Hexenwolf one, something that isn't done too often in RPG books but does provide some more room to show off Conor's gorgeous art! (Internally we call these Vibe Illustrations!)
A look at the equipment page, as well as the spells and a new Hexenwolf illustration!
Arms and Armorial: Okay, so the Armorial is something that Conor has been playing with for such a long time and seeing the finished version I think you can tell! The various Blazons of each of the major and minor houses follow rules that were once used for the real house heraldry! But not only do they follow design rules, they are also illustrated in a way that makes them look authentic too!
I think we can all agree that there is something just so gorgeous about pieces of art in a book that look almost like they're in universe, sketches like the equipment included in the Witch Knight pages are similarly dotted around the book to give an almost 'prop' feel, like some of these pages could be taken directly from tomes found within the realm of Faerie!
The Armorial of Faerie, its noble houses and their blazons; followed by the Witch Knight Subclass, including new athame art
Fealty: A sneaky little look at some of the deeper mechanics for the fealty system here, I'm sure there will be plenty of you zooming into these pages to try and scrape as many details as you can. Fear not though! For it will not be long until you have the entire fealty system in hand and you and your companions can swear your loyalty to one of the major forces of Faerie!
A sneak peak of the fealty system, including House Autumn’s Retainer
Where are we?: Finally, the map of Faerie! The land of faerie is a whimsical and ever-changing place, it takes the mind of a madman to fully map these lands and keep track of their denizens. And I think that says more about myself and Conor than I care to admit! But we present to you, Faerie in its entirety!
The Mappa Mundi of Faerie, in illuminated glory!
We draw ever closer to getting Faerie into your hands and I, for one, cannot wait! This book is so full of small details from functional armour designs, to lore nods to British folklore but also is something that even the most casual of fantasy enjoys will (hopefully) love!
As always, thank you all for reading and I'll see you soon! Aston
