The Devil in the Glass City is an adventure zine for Mausritter. Players will explore a haunted city suspended in a grand Chandelier that features a massive fair, strange spirits, a Ferris wheel and a devilish bargain maker.
Our debut project "Devil in the Glass City" is an adventure site for the Sword and Whiskers game Mausritter. Brave mice will adventure through a haunted chandelier that was once promised to be a glittering city of progress free of crime, pollution and cats. Glass automatons keep the city's wonders alive, but a sinister evil haunts the city. Deep below a bead of glass glows a deep haunting laugh. Will you discover the chandelier's secrets?
Devil in the Glass City is inspired by the real historical events of the World's Columbian Exposition. In 1893 Chicago hosted the world's fair to showcase the city's extravagance. Architect Daniel Burnham created the famous "White City," which hosted many of the world's most wondrous attractions. It truly was a fascinating moment in the city's history.
Our zine takes inspiration from the real fair and gives it the Mausritter twist. Shrunk down to fit in a giant chandelier, our mousey version of the "White City" will be filled with both historical reference and interesting challenges for fans of OSR games.
Although we are great lovers of history, we are not historians, so expect quite a few liberties in the final product. Made with love of course.
All shipping fees will be chargedseparately, AFTER the campaign, during pledge management. The prices below are estimates. Actual shipping prices will be determined after production is finished and we're gearing up to send out the zines.
We expect to have a digital version of the layout during the first quarter of 2026. From there we expect to go through a diligent editing and proofreading process that we will keep you all informed on. We're already in negotiations with our selected printing company and as soon as the layouts have been thoroughly reviewed we will send them out to the printer.
Our hope is to get you and your players into the Glass City before the end of 2026.
Obviously this schedule could potentially change, but we will remain as transparent as possible with consistent detailed updates.
We are planning on offering unique stretch goals. We will announce those as the crowdfunding campaign begins/continues.
Here's an outline of our stretch goals!
$600 Item cards!
$800 player facing maps!
$1000 Custom Character Sheets!
$1200 Additional stickers
$1500 Rafter Heights! An expansion to the zine that includes the nearby town of Rafter Heights.
Item cards Mausritter shines the most when players get to utilize the item cards to help visualize and customize their characters. Our items are inspired by the technology of the late 1800s and what was debuted at the World's Fair.
Those who have backed the physical tier will receive one printed sheet of all the items to cut out. Digital backers will receive a PDF version of the same sheet.
Player maps Our art director has been working tirelessly to create a really dynamic set of isometric maps for each tier of the chandelier. From the fair to the city to the private penthouse of the mysterious architect who designed this glass marvel.
Those who have packed the physical tier will receive 3 double-sided printed maps that include Rafter Heights and all five of the chandelier levels. Digital backers will receive high-quality PDFs of the same maps.
Custom Character Sheets Every player needs a character sheet and for this project we wanted our character sheets to be distinctive. The neoclassical/Beaux-Arts style prevalent in the "White City's" architecture was evocative and flavorful. We think it is the perfect grounds for these character sheets.
Physical backers will receive 4 printed copies of the character sheets. Digital backers will receive a PDF version of the same sheet.
Additional Stickers Everyone loves stickers and we're going to order a lot more of them!
Physical backers and those who have selected the Sticker Add-On will receive additional stickers with all new designs.
Rafter Heights Every good adventure site needs a nearby starting town. Rafter Heights is the starting town near the chandelier our adventure. There will be new NPCs, rumors, stores to shop in and mysteries to unravel. This will add a few more pages to the already planned 20+ page zine.
