We know some of you may be new to crowdfunding and Backerkit, so today we're going over some Frequently Asked Questions about our pre-order crowdfunding campaign.

Our campaign will go live on Tuesday, September 23, at 5 pm UK-BST / 12 pm US-Eastern / 11 am US-Central / 10 am US-Mountain / 9 am US-Pacific. 

You will need a Backerkit account in order to pledge and pre-order your replica. If you do not yet have a Backerkit account, you can create one at: https://www.backerkit.com/c/users/sign_up 

The pre-order crowdfunding campaign will run for 30 days (October 23rd), at which point, if successfully funded, the campaign will go into Overtime Mode. Overtime Mode lets backers continue to pledge as long as there are new pledges within 10 minutes of the previous pledge. Once 10 minutes has elapsed with no new pledges, the campaign will officially end.

Our crowdfunded TOMY+ replicas are a limited-edition one-time production run, meaning we only produce the number of replicas ordered through our crowdfunding campaigns; they will not be available to purchase through our retail site. The molds are destroyed after production to ensure limited-edition authenticity.

 

Unlike regular retail, these products have not yet been manufactured, as we only go on to create the replicas if we successfully reach our crowdfunding campaign goal.

Since we only produce the number of replicas ordered through the campaign, you must pre-order during our live campaign (September 23rd - October 23rd) to secure a replica.

In crowdfunding, backers pledge money in order to make a project possible. Backerkit uses an all-or-nothing funding model, meaning that backers are only charged if the project meets the funding goal by the end of the campaign. If we meet our funding goal, your pledge becomes an official pre-order, and you will be charged immediately after the campaign ends. If we don't reach our funding goal, you will never be charged.

This is an all or nothing campaign, meaning backers are only charged if we reach our funding goal. If we reach our goal, your payment method will be charged) immediately after the campaign ends (once the campaign is no longer in Overtime Mode).

Our payment processor, Stripe, accepts any major credit/debit card, and Apple Pay (on mobile). Payments cannot be split among multiple cards.

CAN I USE PAYPAL?
No, PayPal is not an available payment option for this campaign.

Yes, Backerkit's Pay Over Time option allows backers to pay their balance over the four months after the campaign ends, rather than all at once. When the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal, these backers will be charged a quarter of their balance monthly, for four months. Backers can choose to pay off their remaining balance early in the app if they choose. 

You will be given the option to select Pay Over Time at checkout once you have entered your card details and click the blue "Update Payment Method" button. 

Pre-orders will be collected in USD. Backers in other countries will be charged the USD conversion rate as of the date backers are charged.

HOW SECURE IS IT TO PLEDGE ON YOUR SITE?

WHAT COUNTRIES WILL YOU SHIP TO?
For this campaign, we are shipping to the USA, Canada, and the UK. 

We plan to offer limited-edition units through our partners and select retailers after the campaign in Australia, France, and Germany if our initial crowdfunding campaign is successful. Availability in other EU countries is still being determined, however, if you choose to back this campaign using parcel forwarding to secure a model and pre-orders become available in your country at a later date, you will be able to cancel your initial crowdfunding pledge in order to pre-order through your country's campaign/designated retail partner.

There is a flat $50 shipping fee (USD) per replica, bringing the total cost per replica to $449 USD. This total is inclusive of VAT, duties, and sales tax. 

Shipping will be charged in the post-campaign Backerkit survey, sent approximately 90 days after the campaign ends.
