Project Update: 40% reached, new wave of backers, class revisions and more!

Hello all!
We've had our rest during recent holidays and now wanted to update you on how things are going with our crowdfunder and the Vampire!

Once again - thank you, Backers!

We've just reached 40% of the funding goal! We welcome all of you, new Backers, and thank you for your support. You have our eternal gratitude and it makes us so happy there are people willing to believe in us and in our project! There are two reasons for the new wave of Backers. The first one is an interview with Triglav Games' Ananam that premiered on the Goblin Points podcast (video below) and the second one is Matt Colville sharing a link to our campaign online. Thank you so much Jon of Goblin Points and Matt for your tremendous help spreading the word about our crowdfunder!



Vampire Revisions

We've received playtest feedback from Pesto and are working on revisions for the class. There are some pain points that we intend to take care of, so that they are not troubling the design of the Vampire. 

The thing that requires most of our attention are the thirst drawbacks. They feel too severe and players hate that sometimes they are required to attack other heroes. To fix this, we are making the drawbacks less severe and introducing a way to mitigate them - we will see if testers will feel good about our solution.

There will also be some changes to Gloom Weaver and Elusive Beguiler blood legacies. Gloom Weaver can now be better at hiding and teleporting than a Shadow, so we are changing some of its mechanics to not be as potent, while providing some new benefits to compensate. Elusive Beguiler's triggered action seems to be overtuned so it will receive changes or be replaced with something more in line with the rest of the triggered actions. We are still discussing the extend of the changes to Elusive Beguiler.

Finally, the temporary stamina from Drink Most Exquisite provided too much self-sustain, so we are reducing the amount received so that the Vampire feels less tanky and will actually have to spend some recoveries.

On the horizon...

We plan to share an updated version of the class once the revisions are tested and the results of the tests show that our changes made the class better. We also intend to share the second part of Irina's story before the end of the campaign so stay tuned if you liked the first one!

Project Update: Irina's Story #1: The Dying Girl

Viktor Dimitrovich Rogov stood among ruins of Hrastno, witnessing the destruction brought here by a troop of brigands. The pungent mix of blood and burnt wood assaulted his sharp sense of smell. The villagers' corpses had been piled up and set ablaze in the middle of the settlement, but rain prevented them from turning into ash before Viktor got there. The smoldering flames devouring nearby buildings were slowly dying out.

Though unknown to him personally, these people lived on his land, making him their host and protector. It's been years since anyone was stupid or arrogant enough to raid and plunder Rogovia, his namesake, his name sufficing to scare most away. He cared for his people as a shepard cares for his flock. And no shepard allows wolves to prey upon their sheep.

He looked around for hints that could tell him where the bandits had gone. All he found was the aftermath of brigands' brutality. Corpses - of a mother and a child in her embrace. An old man, dismembered. A boy with an arrow in his eye. An eviscerated dog. Those who did it were no better than rabid animals and Viktor Dimitrovich, kniaz Rogov, a vampire lord, was eager to track the bandits down and satiate his thirst for vengeance and blood.

The tracks he found lead into nearby forest. He could tell some villagers tried to escape here, but were caught and slaughtered all the same, their injured bodies leaning against tree trunks or lying in moss sprinkled with their blood. Suddenly he registered a faint gasp, sounds of a person struggling to breathe.

Intrigued, he followed.

Hidden behind a raspberry bush, a wounded girl was lying on the ground, clutching her bleeding stomach. Viktor could tell she was beyond saving. Her eyes widened when she saw him and fear entered her face.

"Please..." she gasped. "Please don't... Don't kill me."

She could barely speak, her pain too severe. Viktor watched her for a while. The young, black-haired woman looked at him terrified, struggling to take another breath. 

As she realized the hopelessness of her situation, her demeanor changed. In her eyes glistened determination, a sign of defiance even in face of her upcoming death. That strength reminded him of someone, someone he buried a very long time ago. Someone of comparable resolve. In a land far away and in another lifetime. She reminded him of his daughter, Zora.

"What is your name, child?" His deep voice sounded supernaturally strong. She shuddered, once again made to feel fear.

"My... what?" she struggled to comprehend what was happening. "My... name? It's I-... Irina."

"Irina..." Rogov looked her in the eyes, his own now glowing red as his desire to feed grew stronger. The smell of blood fueled his thirst, but he resisted. For now. "I am afraid you are beyond saving, Irina."

"Beyond sa-... saving...?" she repeated, not understanding. "Will I.. will I die?"

Viktor nodded slowly. Irina felt every piece of hope she had in her was now gone, along with her will to live. Tears started welling up in her eyes and she started sobbing.

"At least... at least my sister is safe." She had to pause as crying brought her an unbearable amount of pain. "I saw Katya escape... I know she is safe. She has to be."

Viktor kept looking at her, not hearing what she was saying anymore. How was it possible? How was it possible that after so many years, after centuries, this dying girl made him remember the emotions he had for his daughter. A mere look of this girl made him feel again. Feel affection, love even! He was confused. Disoriented. What should he do?! He couldn't let this girl die! But she was going to!

Unless...

"Will you end me now?" He came to his senses and looked at her, puzzled. She continued, no longer crying, steadfast again. "I know what you are... I think I know WHO you are. Will you end me now or... or will you drink my blood first?"

"No, Irina..." He smiled faintly as he made his decision, once again alarming her. Not taking his eyes off her, he put one of his sharp claws to his left arm and cut his pale skin. Dark blood, almost black, poured out. He came closer and knelt down next to her, extending his arm towards her face. "You, my child, are going to live forever. And you will be the one drinking now."

Project Update: Over 25% of the goal reached, favorite subclass poll and more

Hello all!
We've got some things we wanted to update you on, so let's do this!

Thank you, Backers!

First of all, the whole team of Triglav Games would like to express their gratitude to our amazing early Backers. We didn't expect to have such a strong start! We've passed 25% of our funding goal (20% in the very first day!) and we are closing in on the 30%. It's all thanks to the wonderful people who like our design and believe in our project, so once again - thank you!

New campaign story section - Videos

We've added a new section to the campaign's story - Videos. The section contains all the content related to our Vampire class. We will be updating the section with more entries when the community will create more! If you like the class - don't hesitate! Create a video about the Vampire, and we will gladly post it in the Videos section!

Favorite subclass poll for Backers

We've posted a poll for our Backers, asking them which one of the Vampire's Blood Legacies is their favorite. If you are a Backer - go on and vote! If you are not a Backer - back now for access to Backer-exclusive discussions, polls and updates! The poll is attached at the bottom of this update for your convenience.

The sad truth about raising funds is that after an explosive start, it tends to drastically slow down. We need your help to keep the momentum! On the horizon...

When writing this update, we are waiting for results of Pesto's playtest session. Once we receive his feedback, we will discuss all of the reported issues and look for fixes. We are going to update you on Pesto's findings and our changes to the class that will aim to address any pain points. Once we've dealt with the issues, we will share an updated version of the Vampire with our Backers.

We will start work on our next major product, which will also be a Draw Steel class. We will reveal what the class will be later on.
