im sure a lot of you have been wondering about the new GPSR guidelines & how they've been affecting many small businesses. ive been resesrching and seeking out professional advice from experts in the EU to get better insight into the situation & to find a way forward to ensure that EU customers can still get their batpacks.
here's the important part: EU backers WILL still receive their rewards! everything is expected to ship overseas with no trouble.
now, onto the meat of the situation:
- GPSR is not a new tax, or even an entirely new regulation; its an update to the GPSD which was established in 2016, replacing it completely. - the GPSR aims to clarify & consolidate previous standards, and tightens how they are administered. - currently, for the type of businesses that we're running (business-to-consumer), it is not expected that we will be under any higher scrutiny. this update i believe is moreso meant to impact those trying to import items into the EU for use in wholesale or dropshipping. - however, to err on the side of caution, i have already opened up the topic of safety testing with my manufacturer (previously, id assumed this was only required if we were marketing items towards children, but better to be safe than sorry), and have also established a relationship with an EU business representative (another big thing people were worried about as a requirement of the new legislation).
another big thing that was shared with me was that small businesses will not be expected to comply with new laws immediately as long as they're showing that theyre making efforts to become compliant. this is the big thing that reassured me that shipping the batpacks to you guys wouldnt be an issue, since weve already started taking these steps!
(however, after the batpack campaign is concluded, its more than likely that EU shipping wont be available in the future, just to be on the safe side. I've already decided to halt EU shipping for my main shop -- maintaining compliance can and will require a lot of time and money for product testing and representation that i just dont have :( )

first, we have our leather colors picked for the new samples! white and yellow for the honduran white bat...
and purple for the dreamy bat, with a new insert color as well!
we're getting a few color samples in to see what color will be right for marine bat, who may have to undergo a bit of a design change depending on our options... but we'll see!
also, fat bat memo pads AND batty blind bag charms are on their way to us! 🖤
I only have a photo of the memo pads to share currently, but im sooo excited to see them all!!! ❤️❤️
after considering some of the feedback from you guys wanting to see more samples before choosing your batpacks, & because of a few requests I've gotten from people asking for extensions, ive decided to extend the survey deadline until the end of this month!
ideally, id love to have the survey open until ALL samples have arrived, but we need to know how many of each design are being ordered ASAP so I can properly budget for manufacturing each design option, and I don't want to accidentally manufacture too little of a design and be forced to reorder them later (it's not cheap! 💀).
however, youre always welcome to request a change to your survey at ANY time, even after your order is locked! if you see a new sample and want to switch your choice to it, please just message me or backerkit literally any time and we will be happy to help you :)
speaking of samples, im hoping we'll be able to have our first look at the new ones sometime next week!
in terms of production, the items I mentioned last update (the memo pads and the charms) are still in progress. in addition, the new sticker designs have also now been ordered so those should be on the way soon!

hey yall! just wanted to let you know that we've finished getting the next two designs sample ready, so our first set of three new samples are currently underway!
of these three samples, one is a new version of the original design with a few changes & two are brand new designs: the honduran white bat & the dreamy bat!
of all the designs in the lineup, the dreamy bat is definitely the most complicated, so im hoping to get that one out of the way ASAP! luckily neither of these designs required any serious changes when converting to pantone, which i was a little worried about for dreamy bat 😅
anyway, other than samples, here are two of our add on items that have already arrived!
the all bats are beautiful sticker & the print set! the batty blind bag pins + the fat bat notepads are currently in production as well :D slowly but surely starting to get everything together!

i got back from my anniversary (now upgraded to ENGAGEMENT!! 💍💍) trip earlier this week and almost immediately had to jump into overtime for my fulltime job + our family pets have been having a myriad of health issues I've been trying to help my dad with, so i dont have much in the way of updates yet. i had to play catch up with some production work for my regular store & monthly membership clubs, so next on the list is putting together the design files for the next batch of samples!
our current production plan is as follows: the next set of samples will be the original brown bat (with some changes), the honduran white bat, and the dreamy bat. once we're happy with those three samples, we can start mass production on those at the same time as we start on samples for the next three designs, and so on so forth! I'm hoping that staggering production this way will help get things done more efficiently & with less stress for the factory in the upcoming holiday season.
