Project Update: Print copies ordered!

I've got great news! I finally received the proof copy of the physical book and it was good to go. For everyone who ordered a physical copy and has completed the survey (with the exception of a few whose payment is not going through),  I have now placed the order for your physical book with DTRPG. The lead time on the print-on-demand process is very difficult to predict. Normally, they ship within about 2 weeks, but the proof copy took nearly a month to ship to me, probably because of end-of-year crunch. Regardless, backers of the physical copy will soon have the book in hand. Thanks again for your amazing support!

Project Update: Digital copies issued

Hello Road Trippers,
I'm happy to report that everyone who has responded to the survey and has had their payment clear has just been issued the digital copy of Road Trip.
The digital-only backers have also been issued their add-on books.
For those who ordered the physical book, I hope to get the digital copies of your add-ons issued in the next day or so.

The digital distribution is all happening through DriveThruRPG, so be on the lookout for an email from them for your digital rewards.

If you have responded to the survey and your payment has cleared and you do not receive the email from DriveThru, contact me ([email protected]) and I'll reissue yours.

Enjoy the drive!

Project Update: Across the finish line!

Hello Road Trippers,
The Xcrawl Road Trip project made it across the finish line and exceeded my expectations. I want to take this moment to express to you all how very thankful I am that you have supported this project. I hope it brings hours of fun to your game table.

The next step will be the fulfillment survey, which I will get sent out just as soon as Backerkit gives me the clearance to do so.

I hope to hear from some of you about the adventures (and misadventures) encountered by your game group as they set out on the Road Trip. Perhaps I will bump into some of you at conventions and can receive your stories in person.

Until then, may your drive for fame bring glory to the Empire!

Project Update: Home stretch...

Hey Road Trippers,
We're close enough to the end of the campaign that Backerkit is doing the countdown in hours rather than days. When the campaign wraps up, you'll get sent a survey to provide fulfillment information. The sooner these surveys are completed, the sooner I can start sending out the books :) ... so keep an eye out for that in your email.

Just from looking at the map shown in the campaign, does the Road Trip come close to anyone's hometown?

Game on,
Ed

Project Update: The Old School - adventuring in the Goodman warehouse

Hello Xcrawlers,
I'm coming to you to bring another preview. Inspired by Dungeon Con (and suggested by Jason Mizzell), one of the events in Road Trip takes place in a building based on the map of the Goodman Games warehouse in Ft. Wayne. It's "The Old School". If the team is sufficiently cunning and can sneak past the dragon in this event, they can drive away in their very own Wizard Van!
____________________________________________________________

#13 - Ohio District, Indiana Shire, Ft. Wayne

In the history of the taming of the North American continent, some locations stand out as particularly noteworthy. One such location is the military base built in the northern reaches of Indiana Shire in the Ohio District. This fort, called Ft. Wayne, has been a crucial base of operations against the host of deadly monsters that roam this region.

One of the particular locations that the soldiers of Ft. Wayne must keep an eye on is the den of the dragon Godwer. Over the years, Godwer has amassed a vast hoard composed of thousands of old tomes. These dusty old books contain many dark secrets on all matters arcane. There are many who are tempted by the promise of power that could be gained from the forbidden knowledge in these books, and some of those people are daring enough to try to sneak into Godwer's hoard to get even a peek inside a tome or two. These desperate hunters of arcane knowledge have come to refer to the dragon's hoard as "The Old School".

For the Ft. Wayne event, the Xcrawl team will have to sneak their way into The Old School and gain access to one of these ancient tomes. The specific nature of what they must find will vary by division. Once they locate the appropriate tome, they must then copy the designated portion from it, replace the book where they found it and then sneak back out with their copy. This event may not be retried if failed.

The Task at Hand
The team is tasked with tracking down a specific book in The Old School. Once they do so, they must transcribe a section of it, a task requiring great focus and exacting skill. Any mistakes made in the copy will render the text invalid. Also of concern for the team is that the books in question describe ancient secrets about long-hidden magics. These arcane secrets are caustic to the fragile mortal psyche. The mere process of reading the text in order to copy it forces a Will save on the part of the would-be scribe. If the reader fails this Will save, they incur a mental corruption. (See the Mental Corruptions section towards the end of this book.) To succeed in the copying process, the Xcrawler must make an intelligence skill roll (d20 + level + intelligence modifier) against the listed Copy DC. If the roll fails, the scribe has made an error and must begin again, forcing a new Will save. Note that failing the Will save does not prevent a successful copy.
____________________________________________________________

Let's hope the Xcrawl team is clever enough to come out on top in this event.

Game on,
Ed
