Congratulations on the funding. * How will the PDFs be delivered ? * What is the difference between the red ledger’s district maps strech goal and the district maps add-on ? Thanks for your reply.

Really excited to see this release, but I live in NZ and am not interested in virtual options so am looking into options for freight forwarding. Can you please provide estimates of the weight for the physical reward tiers or items to help figure out how much the forwarding costs are likely to be (as much as prediction is possible these days). At this stage I've put in a pledge for the special edition, but depending on shipping am interested in the other physical rewards as add ons (seems cheaper than the bundles with Roll20 things I don't want).

Project Update: Greetings, Scoundrel!

BACKER DOWNLOADS BELOW

Thank you to all the backers of Deep Cuts! As a thanks for backing now you can get immediate access to Deep Cuts version 1.1 (the current draft) with the link below. You can also find a playbooks and other reference handouts there!

The Deep Cuts version 1.1 contains the full text and rules of the game. Additional text changes, editing, and sensitivity reading will be done over the next few months and you'll receive the final version when the rewards are fulfilled.

If we have additional content to share during the campaign, we’ll provide it in the same folder linked below.

Your second instant backer reward is the Deep Cuts Roll20 Quickstart module.

It contains a glimpse at the new technology innovations, two of the the 15 factions outlined in Deep Cuts, an underworld turf map, six of the new Heritages, nine of the new Backgrounds, and an introduction for Catalysts.

We're working on the Roll20 character sheet update for Deep Cuts as well. We'll post here once it's ready!

Any questions? Let us know. We love questions! Join the BackerKit community discussion area for this project, or email us privately at [email protected].

And thank you as always for your support—it means a lot to us!

Project Update: First 36 hours - A Success with Excellent Effect

Hey friends,

Thanks to over 1900 of you, the first 36 hours of the campaign for Blades in the Dark: Deep Cuts was a resounding success! This project funded in just 68 minutes!

(And remember: One of the perks of being a backer is instant access to the full, current draft of Deep Cuts. Download links are found in Update #1.)

With over $100k raised, you’ve unlocked some deluxe finishes to the core Deep Cuts book and six additional improvements that provide new trackers, reference sheets, and more to the Red Ledger.

As a reminder, if you pledged at the PDF + POD level or higher, we’re making those same improvements to the PDF ledger we’re including for everyone in that level and above.

We want to take a moment to clarify a couple things that came up after launch.

First, we understand the frustration that our fans in the UK, EU, and other countries feel in regard to our decision to only ship physical rewards inside the U.S. Frankly, it’s a frustrating situation for us as well, but the current volatile state of international trade policy makes it impossible to predict what shipping or taxes will cost when the books are ready six months from now.

However, we’ve decided to try an experiment.

As we approach the public street date for Deep Cuts, we’re going to release a small number of Limited Edition copies of Deep Cuts into distribution abroad. If distributors order the LE version, you should have an opportunity to get one through your FLGS. Likewise, we are adding retailer-priced copies of the LE version to the retailer tier so international retailers (who handle their own importing via a freight forwarder) can get a supply of the LE version themselves.

Note that this puts a lot of the financial and shipping risk on the side of the local shops. They will very likely be forced to pass any extra expense onto the local price of the book.

It’s not an ideal solution but this is the best compromise we can find for our diehard fans who want the Limited Edition cover and don’t want to lean on a friend in the U.S. or explore their own options in using a freight forwarding service.

Second, we made an honest mistake when we assembled the Community Achievement rewards for Scurlock’s Vault. We thought that the Rail Jack and Grifter’s playbook were restricted releases exclusively available to the original backers of Blades in the Dark and we were hoping to bring them to a new audience here. Turns out that’s not the case.

So instead we are including two new rewards in their place:

  • We’ll be issuing all backers a coupon to order a POD version of the Cutter’s Deck on an at-cost basis through DriveThruCards. (This replaces the 1000 Backers achievement.)
  • We’ll be creating a digital wallpaper pack, based on the art in Deep Cuts, which you can use on your desktop or as a Zoom background. (This replaces the 1500 Backer achievement.)

And as of this post, we’re about 80 backers shy of the 2000 mark, where we’ll add Sean Nittner’s Vigilantes to the Vault.

With your help we can get there faster.

Whether you’re a diehard fan of Doskvol or someone new to Blades in the Dark, you can help scribe new entries in the Red Ledger and unlock more stretch goals and Community Achievements by sharing the project on social media and with your friends.

We’re enormously grateful for the outpouring of support we’ve seen in these first 36 hours. Thank you, there’s more to come!

I'd really like an official Blades in the Dark module for Foundry VTT, it would be amazing to have something as polished as the Roll20 module without the limitations of an online only subscription based service. I know I can't be alone on this, maybe with enough support we can make it happen.
