Early Backer Reward - Back within the first 2 days and receive a pack of four (not) robber masks

Back the campaign before Friday April 25th at 11:59pm ET and receive a 4 pack of definitely NOT robber masks for your crew!
The Job: Boxset Edition with TOP SECRET Backer Exclusive Adventure!

What's the Score Section Intro: Listen up crew!
You’ve got one shot at the big score. Diamonds, gold bullion, the Mona Lisa—whatever it is, it’s shiny, priceless, and currently not yours. The Job is a fast-paced, no-nonsense RPG about pulling off legendary heists with style… or going down in a blaze of absolute, 100% memorable failure. You and your crew of specialized criminals will plan the perfect caper, dodge laser grids, sweet-talk security, and improvise when (not if) things go south. Think fast, move faster, and whatever you do—don’t drop the stack.

Twelve scenes. One heist. Zero do-overs.
No long-winded backstories, no stats to crunch, no character progression - just a slick, high-tension system designed for one-shots where the only thing standing between you  and success is a tower of dice teetering on the edge of disaster. The more risks you take, the higher it gets. Knock it over three times? Game’s up, you’re busted, enjoy your life behind bars. But if you pull it off… well, let’s just say there’s a cocktail with your name on it, somewhere far, far away.

THE JOB is a tabletop roleplaying game, leaning into the narrative, story-driven genre. In conventional RPGs, winning or losing is irrelevant. in this game, however, it isn't. Players have a clear objective: to pull off a heist. They either do it, or they don't. The game is played in two phases, Preparation and Action. In the first phase, players devise their master Plan. In the second, they put it into action and discover how (ill-)prepared they were. This phase is played with a teetering dice stack that may fall with any failed action, potentially compromising the entire heist.

World of the Job Header Image - The world of The Job is don't get caught.

This is a high-stakes, split-second decision, adrenaline-fueled fever dream where the only rule is, you know it by now, don’t get caught. The world is a well-dressed con artist who can talk their way past laser grids, a wheelman who can drift a getaway van through rush-hour traffic, or a bruiser who can punch their way out of a bad situation (or into a worse one). It’s a world where security is tight, complications are inevitable, and everything that can go wrong absolutely will—but that’s half the fun. The difference between a clean getaway and an utter disaster is razor-thin, and the only thing thicker than the tension is the stack of dice wobbling under your fingers.

YOU'RE NOT JUST PLAYING A HEIST - YOU'RE LIVING IT

How does The Job go down Header Image - The game is played in two phases.

THE JOB is a game designed for one Referee and three to five Players.
Each has a different role to play in two main phases of the game.

The Preparation Phase
Players receive a Brief from the Referee detailing the location they are robbing, the object, their budget and six known complications. Then, they plan the heist, imagining and writing down the scenes that will make up the Action Phase. Instead of traditional adventure modules, the Players prepare their own session, simulating the experience of planning a heist. They must plan for a total of 12 scenes, account for all complications and inform the Referee which scenes they want to play — not the other way around. The Referee's role is to listen, take notes, and negotiate the boundaries of scenes, if needed.

This phase should take around an hour and a half.

The Action Phase
With the plan in place, it’s time to make it happen. The plan is handed over to the Referee, who will guide the Players bring their crew to life in the scenes they planned. The role of the Referee is to breath life into the scenes the players imagined, roleplay these out with them and add unexpected trouble as the story moves forward. Every roll carries risk, every choice adds tension, and when things go south, they go fast. This phase is played with the Dice Stack - if it collapses three times, the heist is over. But if the crew holds their nerve? The score is theirs.

The game runs on a 2d6 system, where failure (2-6) adds dice to the stack, partial success (7-9) forces Players to choose between adding dice or enduring a setback, and full success (10+) lets them remove a die. Each crew member has four unique stunts that grant advantages or let them pull off signature moves. Inventory? Simple: when you need something, use one of your four gear slots (that’s all you get for the whole heist!) and deduct the cost from the budget.

This phase should take another hour and a half.

As the brains behind Games Omnivorous, he crafts fast, low-prep, and stylishly chaotic games. We think we know what he’s doing… but at this point, who can really tell?

Impact of US Tariffs on the Campaign

We understand many backers may have concerns with how we plan to handle tariffs and other global logistical issues in light of recent events. We want to reassure fans that we are tackling these problems headfirst to ensure that we are bringing the highest quality independent games to your tables. Here are some ways we are planning to navigate these issues:

Game Development Status:

The files for the core game are already complete and ready for manufacturing, so we expect to start that process shortly after the Pledge Manager closes and we know the final quantities needed for fulfillment.   We decided that it was best to launch this campaign with the game already prepared for manufacturing in order to minimize the risk of delays.

Manufacturing:

We plan to have manufacturing and assembly take place outside of China and other areas of the world with high tariff costs in an effort to avoid/ lessen potential tariffs on items that come into the US.  We are already in contact with multiple manufacturers and in the process of receiving quotes and samples to ensure we are able to produce the highest quality game possible in the shortest time frame.

Timeline impact:

The tariff policy and global economy is very volatile right now and while we cannot anticipate the exact impact this will have on the timing of delivery, we are taking steps to manage this by:
- Allowing an additional 6 months for fulfillment. Most of the files are complete for this project so we do not anticipate it taking anywhere near this long to fulfill, but feel more comfortable being conservative just in case.
- Reserving more of the raised funds to devote to any unexpected fluctuations in shipping/ customs costs.

Pricing Impact:

Backers in all regions will not see any additional fees or change to their pledge amounts or add-ons in the crowdfunding campaign nor in the pledge manager.

Backers outside of the US:

Some of you that are outside of the US may be asking how do tariffs on imports into the US affect me? The reality is that while our government may be in denial of it, the truth of the matter is we are all part of a global economy. We are also a US based company so we have to consider how these potential costs will affect both the movement of good into the US as well as the movement of good within other regions of the world. We are trying to minimize the impact on all backers and we appreciate the continued support including those backers outside of the US as you watch the dumpster fire that is the US economy right now.

Thank you for continuing to support independent creators and cool games despite the uncertainty at this time. We truly appreciate you.
