How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.
To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.
All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.
Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.
Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.
When will I be charged for my pledge?
Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.
What happens after the campaign is over?
The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.
Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.
Project FAQ
How do I pick which plushie I am going to recieve?
After the campaign ends, a survey will be sent out that will ask you a few questions, such as which specific plushie(s) will be sent to you! Survey will take up to two months to go out after the campaign ends, and finished prototype pictures will be available for all plushies before the survey is locked, but I will keep everyone up to date! You will also be able to add on additional plushies, charms, and stickers when the survey rolls out, if you decide you'd like more than what you initially pledged for.
I want a plushie of a character that hasn't been unlocked yet - should I wait to back until it unlocks?
Backing the project as soon as it begins, even if your favorite character has not yet been unlocked, helps give the campaign the greatest chance of reaching all it's goals! If we reach the final few days of the campaign and your favorite has still not been unlocked, you can cancel or adjust your pledge and add-ons, so you are only charged for what you'd like! My suggestion is to start out backing as if everything was unlocked, and adjust your pledge closer to the end of the campaign to reflect what we were able to accomplish!
Can I cancel/refund my pledge?
At any point while the campaign is running, you can easily cancel your pledge and will not be charged since the payment is only taken after the campaign ends and is successfully funded! After payments have been processed, refunds are only offered for extenuating circumstances, and cannot be processed after 3 months since the campaign has ended, I can only offer shop credit for your pledge amount. If you anticipate you would not like to receive your rewards, please cancel your pledge before the end of the campaign rather than waiting until after your card has been charged.
