Project Update: Free Web Hex Map Generator and Clings Updates! Improvements to the Hexploration Decks & Tiles project.

Greetings Adventure Masters & Worldbuilders!

Before we get into the new-news, just to recap some of the prior improvements/stretch goals:  We've already hit goals to make the original 4 decks 56 cards each and make the map tiles a set of 80 tiles from the original 64.  And we're not far away from making the stickers for towns/towers/etc. into clings. (See below.)

Our project has slowed down in recent days--I think mostly because I spent the weekend and early part of the week making that new Free Web Hex Map Generator. An update today now lets you move & remove points of interest (towers/towns/etc) and add/move/remove coasts to the map. (But they aren't auto-placed.) I hope it helps this project get the attention it deserves--but it is a fun tool on its own.

A sample map made with the generator and adding a couple points of interest and coasts.

I want to add rivers in the same was as coasts and then let you use simple lines for roads/trails.  Then stop there for a while.  The generator was supposed to be just a little tool to help promote this crowdfunding, so I don't want to spend too much time on it until we get you these decks & tiles!  But do give it a try!
A few white clings (the two in the far upper left plus the other town on that tile) and several clear clings--everything else except the trees.

Second, I got the samples of clear clings!  I then put them on a few of the tiles I had previously printed and laminated--which also had a couple of the white clings too.  This picture shows what they are like.  If you look closely you'll see I thought to myself, "What if we did coasts this way too?"  And maybe we should try the same approach for rivers...

The clinginess of both white and clear clings seems good and as many have reported here, if they lose their cling, just wash them carefully.

Now that I know they'll work (one way or another) I've set the next stretch goal to convert our stickers.  If we hit $44,000, we'll do our points of interest as vinyl clings.  I can't promise that all will be individually pre-cut, but that is the goal and I do have some good leads on that--I expect to have more info in the next update.

Let me know in our new poll if you think the coasts & rivers as clings is a good idea!  That will probably become a near-future stretch goal because it will mean more clings!

And as in most updates, I like to highlight crowdfunding from friends and colleagues. Our first is from Jason Duff who is also part of a TTRPG creators group that helps me:

Unleash your imagination with Heroes & Hardships, the ultimate d10 dice pool roleplaying system for any setting, any character, any adventure. From fantasy realms to deep space,
this robust system offers deep customization, tactical combat, and flexible magic to bring your world to life.

The Core Rulebook is packed with everything you need—rules for vehicles, adversaries, and a bestiary spanning multiple genres. Plus, a GM Screen for quick reference and Foundry VTT integration for seamless online play. Create, explore, conquer—your next great adventure starts now!  Follow along to get notified when it goes live.

Second, Azukail Games has a great series of random table products.  Seriously, they have a ton on DriveThruRPG already!  Now they are dipping their toes into Kickstarter with D66 Diverse Magical Doors.

This supplement has 36 magical doors suitable for fantasy role playing games, especially those that could be considered OSR, but also other d20 systems. There are some generalised references to stats, which will work for many systems.

These can be used by a Game Master to flesh out a location with a door that is a little bit different. Some of the doors are useful, whilst others are dangerous to mess with.

Thanks again for your support... please share our project with a friend.  And if you see a post of ours about the project, re-share it!  We really are doing our best to have a bunch of worthwhile stretch goals with no cost to you!
