The shield hung on the wall before you is suitable for any human-sized warrior. It is seemingly made entirely of bronze and features the life-sized sculpted head of a medusa with its eyes closed. The Medusa’s head is encircled with dozens of snakes coiled in various attack poses.

This is THE MEDUSA SHIELD. It is a potent weapon and work of powerful protection that obeys commands that have been burned into the leather enarme (arm and hand straps found on the shield’s inside shell).

If anyone approaches this artifact, the shield reacts by opening its eyes, sending a glowing green cone of petrification out toward all intruders. The published product will most likely include a top-down diagram showing this cone and its area of effect.

This shield has the following command phrases and the actions it takes when these phrases are uttered.

This secret phrase is uttered by Saito and his trusted underlings every time they open the door to this room. This phrase completely DEACTIVATES the shield’s powers until the door is opened again at a different time.

GORGON - This command phrase unleashes a bright green cone of energy that has the power to (petrify) turn any living thing to stone. Every living being within this area of effect must make a successful saving throw or be turned to stone.

The actual stats, pluses, etc., are being worked on now and will be in the final product.
