Project FAQ
Every specimen in our shop is real, authentic, and unique. We take great care to source our specimens in the most ethical and sustainable manner possible. This includes abiding by local mining and heritage laws around the world. The products we sell are not replicas or casts, and each specimen or collection comes with our statement of authenticity included.
We rolled this die 1,000 times, which is far more than most people ever test a die. On a perfectly fair 20-sided die, each number should come up about 50 times in 1,000 rolls. In real life, randomness isn’t perfectly even, so some numbers come up a little more and some a little less, that’s normal. In our test, every number landed close to that expected range. The lowest result was 38, the highest was 63, and the average was exactly 50. No number dominated, and no pattern showed up. We also ran a standard fairness test used in statistics, and the results show there’s no meaningful bias. In plain terms, the small ups and downs we saw are exactly what you expect from a fair die. According to statistics, this was run with a 95% confidence interval, and in fact, most commercial dice are never tested anywhere near this thoroughly. A thousand rolls is considered a strong test even in statistics. If this die were unbalanced, we’d see the same numbers popping up over and over. That didn’t happen here. Based on both the large number of rolls and the results, this die is properly balanced and fair for play.
Shipping, Taxes, Customs, and Duties will be collected separately after the campaign ends. We use flat shipping rates for transportation to destinations around the world. Taxes and duties are not included in these rates, and this is where it gets complex. Many countries apply VAT, GST, or duty on imported goods, and these charges can change with little notice. We will make every effort to reduce these costs before we collect shipping and taxes prior to shipping. We are also exploring an additional postage option that may reduce costs while keeping shipments secure. We have been shipping internationally for more than a decade and this is a complex environment, but we will keep working to hold total costs down. For most locations, we will collect and remit duties on your behalf so rewards arrive “duties paid” (DDP). In regions where DDP is not available, you will need to pay duties directly to the carrier or your local customs office according to the rules in your country. Naturally, we'll let you know what to expect before we ship. Below you will find a chart of estimated flat shipping fees by country and estimated duties/taxes based on current pricing. All prices are in US Dollars (USD). Shipping Fees by Country and/or Region: USA: $10 flat shipping, no duties or taxes expected Canada: $20 flat shipping, estimated 35% duties and taxes UK: $25 flat shipping, estimated 30% duties and taxes EU: $25 flat shipping, estimated 30% duties and taxes Australia: $30 flat shipping, estimated 10% duties and taxes Japan: $25 flat shipping, estimated 20% duties and taxes Rest of the world: $30 flat shipping, duties and taxes to be determined based on location ℹ️ We know a single all inclusive price at backing would be ideal, but the landscape changes too quickly for that to be reliable. Tariffs in place today can disappear tomorrow, and new rules can appear just as fast. We are doing our best to navigate this and keep your total costs as low and predictable as possible while being open and transparent. For this campaign, we are unable to ship to the following countries: Brazil, India, Iran, Russia, & South Africa. If you are in one of these countries and would still like to support the campaign, we recommend using a reshipping or freight-forwarding service.
BackerKit FAQ
BackerKit Crowdfunding is an all-or-nothing collaborative funding platform. Creators share their project ideas and set a funding goal with a deadline. Backers pledge money to help make the project possible.
If the project meets its goal by the deadline, pledges are charged and the creator moves forward. If it doesn’t, no one is charged.
Backers often receive special rewards for their support, such as:
- Exclusive products
- Bonus rewards for backing related projects
- Discount pricing
- Behind-the-scenes updates
- Creative input opportunities
Pledging in crowdfunding is a commitment to support the creation of a new product or project. Unlike a traditional purchase, you're not buying an item that already exists. Instead, your contribution helps bring a creative idea to life, and in return, you typically receive rewards (such as the product itself) as a thank you for your early support.
- Select a pledge level with the reward(s) you would like to receive
- Select any add-ons
- Confirm your pledge!
- You are charged only if the campaign meets its funding goal.
- Charges happen when the campaign ends, not when you pledge.
The creator will send you a survey to:
- Ask you for more information about your rewards (selecting options, etc)
- Collect shipping information
- Offer additional items you may want to add to your pledge
- Collect shipping fees (if applicable)
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge. Additional payments are charged when you complete the survey.
Only the project creator and the BackerKit Support Team can see your pledge and contact information. Other backers and the public cannot see your individual pledge amount or personal details.
You can change or adjust your pledge level and add-ons before the campaign ends. After the project concludes, cancellations or changes are at the creator's discretion and may depend on what stage the project is in.
Overtime Mode extends your campaign past its original end time to give backers a final chance to make their pledge. It will add an additional 10 minutes past the end time as long as pledges keep coming in. The campaign will end when there is a 10-minute period without any new pledges.
