We're entering the last days of the Roll With History dice campaign and we want your input! The color of the Chain Mail D20 has been a hot topic during this project, so we've opened a poll to help us decide which color we should go with.
We're opening up the poll again for one last weekend, so come cast your vote! Royal Purple, Blood Blue, Metallic Gray, Rusty Red, and Original White… which will end up the favorite? You decide. This poll is open to all backers!
We're officially LIVE from the Min Museum headquarters!
If you're curious about our process, want to better understand the specimens that will be contained inside your dice, or just want to chat tabletop games and dinosaurs, now is your chance!
Can't make it? We'll make sure a recording is available for everyone to watch.
New color options for the chain mail d20 are available!
We heard you loud and clear: you want options! We're playing around with a few different colors for the chain mail d20. Be sure to weigh in on your favorites in the poll!
Leading up to this campaign, many of you asked if we'd have something special for board gamers. We're excited to announce that, thanks to the support of our backers so far, we're introducing two new d6 pairs: one featuring 15th-century chain mail links and another with a ~66 million-year-old triceratops fossil inclusion.
Whether you're playing Yahtzee or Monopoly, you can bring history right to your table by swapping out the base dice with these. Show off a piece of medieval craftsmanship or prehistoric wonder every time you play!
If you've already backed the campaign, a set of the Chain Mail dice has been added to the Museum Curator Tier (All In) and as an add-on option for all other tiers!
If you haven’t pledged yet, you can join in at the Board Gamertier to choose your favorite set! When the campaign wraps up, you’ll be able to pick your preferred set in your backer survey. Want both? Just add the second pair as an add-on!
Our friends at Mini Museum will be coming to you LIVE from their headquarters tomorrow, Wednesday, February 4th at 4 PM ET! If you've got questions about the project, want to get a behind-the-scenes view at their process and specimens, or want to chat all things science and history, stop by and chat! They'll be streaming live on Twitch, and everything will be broadcast through the Launch Party on Backerkit automatically.
Thank you to everyone who has shown up so far! We're so excited for this campaign -- and what an amazing first day we've had already! We blew by the $100k funding mark and we're only just getting started.
We wanted to take this time to talk a bit more about the project and answer your burning question...
Why dice?
It's a great question, and the answer comes from a place we’ve been thinking about a lot lately. First, we think the world could use more science and history in everyday life, and more moments of shared wonder. We've explored this through jewelry, books, and other collaborative projects. This project is one small way of adding to that conversation.
All the dice in Roll with History, Dinosaurs, Campo del Cielo, and Chain Mail
But there's always more than that with Mini Museum. There's a big picture too and that picture revolves around the underlying promise of Mini Museum, which is to say that history, time, and reality are best understood through direct, physicalcontact. We try to encourage this by making meaningful collections designed to provide a sense of one's place in the universe, connecting the present directly with moments and materials far outside everyday experience.

In contrast, dice are meant to be handled as the centerpiece of interactive gameplay that involves storytelling and a shared connection with others. In that sense, they're dynamic in a way that is very different from our typical collections. We found this combination really intriguing and it inspired us to see what might be possible by merging wonderandfun.
Someone's having fun!
The result is an object that captures a piece of the past inside an object designed to be used in the present. In this way, the artifact becomes something more than an item to study and transforms into a new kind of experience you engage with in a different context… hopefully an experience you share with others because that's really what Mini Museum is all about.
So... What's Next?
We still have a few tricks up our sleeves! We'll be announcing a few stretch goals and even more ways to grow your collection, so stay tuned and check back in often! What are you hoping for? What are you most excited about with this collection? Drop a comment and let us know!
Now... What About You?
As we've already talked about, this campaign is a unique one for Mini Museum. We want to bring history to a new audience in new ways, so we'd love to hear a bit more from YOU! Fill out the poll to help us get to know you better!
How long have you been following Mini Museum? Have you been with us since our first campaign over a decade ago?
Or is this your first collection? If so, welcome! Glad to have you here! What questions do you have for us? Whether its questions about our process, how we ensure your specimens are authentic, or what our favorite dino is, we're happy to answer - just ask!
Wow! We can't believe we ALREADY get to share the campaign update for Roll With History, and it’s quite the update indeed! Just 10 minutes into our campaign, we’re already fully funded! From both the Mini Museum and FanRoll teams, we want to say: THANK YOU!
We're so excited to move forward with this project and bring meteorites, fossils, and medieval chain mail to your gaming tables. We wouldn’t be able to do this project without you!
For over a decade, Mini Museum’s mission has been to take authentic, interesting, and historical specimens and put them in the palm of your hand! Now with FanRoll Dice, our companies are taking this one step further: taking artifacts from across time and space and fashioning sets of out-of-this-world dice! Thank you again for being a part of this journey!
Our goal has been met, but our campaign is just getting going! Dungeon masters, call up your players, they’re not going to want to miss out on these dice!
That’s all for now, but remember, we’re just getting started!
