Header, About the Game

One player acts as the Scurry Master, while the other players act as crafty Beasts participating in a fast paced heist, called a Scurry.

Throughout their adventure, the Beasts will be faced with obstacles to overcome. The group’s stamina is represented by the Scurry Dice, which start as D12s. All Beasts share the Scurry Dice between them.

Whenever the Beasts need to push their luck, the Scurry Master will call for them to roll the Scurry Dice, which determines what happens next in the heist:

  • Max - Critical Success : The beasts do better than expected, and regain some stamina.
  • 4+ - Success : They do as well as they can, and avoid danger.
  • 2 to 3 - Complication : The beasts pull through, but not quite as intended.
  • 1 - Hijinx : Something goes hilariously wrong, and chaos is sure to follow.

The Scurry Master marks Progress on a clock whenever Something Bad happens during the heist - like if the Beasts hesitate for too long, someone is caught, or the heist’s success is jeopardised.

Whenever the clock fills, the Scurry Dice go down in size, from D12 to D10, to D8… it gets harder and harder to roll 4 or more, which means more bad things happen, and the clock fills up faster. Every Scurry turns into a hectic dash for the finish line!

If the Stress Dice should ever drop from D4 down to D0, Something Awful happens and the heist fails. Everyone then joins in together, narrating just how terribly everything falls apart. The worse it gets, the more fun for everyone.

If the Beasts pull off their Scurry, the size of the Scurry Dice determines their ending. The bigger your dice, the better your epilogue!

Header, Creating your Beasts

Character creation is efficient and creative in Scurry. Pick four Tags straight off the page (or invent your own) to describe who you’ll be playing as. You'll need:

  • A Skill, taught to you by your guild.
  • A Tool, brought along to help in the coming heist.
  • A Talent, that you love to show off.
  • A Trait, something special your animal body can do.

During the heist, you can roll the Scurry Dice twice and take the higher result if you can convince the Scurry Master that one of your tags is relevant to the current situation.

Header, Brand New Heists

This new edition of Scurry features 3 stand-alone adventures to go on across Spring, Summer and Autumn:

  • Best in Show. The star of this year’s pet pageant show has gone missing, and her owner thinks she’s been bug-napped! Can you investigate the other competitors and track down this fluttering beauty before curtain call?
  • Making Your Mark. The artists of Pinelight need rare Titan reagents to finish their heroic mural. Which will you quest for: Half-seen Paint, the Sun-Drinking Stars or the Light-Throwing Crystals? And what fate has befallen the animals of Team B, and can you rescue them in time?
  • Fangs, Steel and Stolen Honour. After losing a treasured heirloom, the wolf-sovereign has challenged the bear-king to a deadly duel, with a city full of innocent beasts caught in the middle! Can you sneak through a beaver dam, find what’s been lost, and bring peace before these behemoths wreak havoc in the city?

Each heist comes with delightful new artwork from Yasmin Younane (PrintWeaver, Tome of Pacts), Letty Wilson (Hollows, KNOCK!, A Folklore Bestiary) and VER (Wolvendaughter, Sacred Bodies).

These new heists pack in alongside the original three-part campaign following the misguided quest of Cinéad the Knower, and the bonus setting guide and heroic adventure for the Toads of the Bristley Woods from the second edition.
